Man I wish we had pump E85 here. Great episode brother.
Thank you!
the pump E85 near me tests regularly 65-75%Eth. These fuels are far more consistent and higher rated. worth the $$ when it counts.
You do. Several stations in Vegas have e85. Probably 10. I have a list of addresses
Thats really good stuff. And will make even a huge difference under boost and that fuel and the ability to add timing and not worry
In N/A form, you won't see too much difference, but, when it's boosted or nitrous, it's night and day difference.....
True however us N/A guys like that we can get 30hp just by switching fuel, also can increase compression to 14:1😊
@@1sweet_ta true....
Can you use these fuels with a nitrous setup ?
@@richiec4120 of course.....
Oxygenated fuels are even better for nitrous oxide, because, you guess it, there's more oxygen in the mix.....
You can make 1500hp on pump and not worry
Best advertisement ever for pump e85. I think pump e85 is all you need. If you need more power just add 1or 2 lbs of boost. We’re already making 1300 hp on a 6.0 at 24 pounds pump E85. Not much need to change fuel change fuel, especially since pump e85 here in California is so cheap and test out exactly 85% ethanol. I’m sure e98 or c85 will make a lot more power boosted but can’t justify the cost. We’re already making as much power as the chassis can handle.
You sure it’s always 85? I live in Indiana where a lot of corn is grown, and I know ours is not always 85 percent. I’m even lucky enough to live by an ethanol plant called ibec that’s has a pump and it’s e90 all summer long but drops sometimes in the winter. With vp and sunco. You know it’s always the percentage they say, where as the pump is not always consistent
@@HoosierStreetScene California has a rep for being at least 85% sometimes higher.
@@dennisrobinson8008well at least California has that going for it 😂 lol well that’s good consistent fuel is always beneficial! What’s the price out there here it ranges 2.95-3.29
@@HoosierStreetScenewe test Chevron Chevron and Shell and they both test exactly to 85%. I’m surprise more old guys are not building 13 to 1 compression big blocks and running them on e85 here in California. free race gas. I’m old, most of my friends just don’t understand for some reason they’re all scared of ethanol. I think it’s the greatest thing that ever came to California Street racers dream.
@@danielsullivan986513:1 is so 2004 lol. Let's go with some of the nasties heads around and 15:1 with a hog ass cam in it lol.
It would be great if you could do a follow-up using a boosted application. Thanks for making this video.
seconded
Obviously it’s going to gain…
3 👍's up Engine Guy thank you for sharing 🤗
Gale Banks would approve of your dyno setup lol. Nice
Well I guess there’s only one thing to do.
Get a boosted donk on there and test them again. That’d be sweet. Thanks VP and Smeding Performance
E85 works perfect .. I make 950 hp on my GTR … all stock components… NA motors ..total waste… for VP…
this is a cool test. would be cool to see some 1/8mile,1/4 mile or 60 -130 #'s to see if the fuels made a real world difference.
With an engine like that it wont. Look at the tiny gains.
Please compare VPE85 Vs VP X85
I forgot until they got to the c85 that this was an NA engine. That c85 on a tune up for it with boost…BWAWUUW
Don't think you'll see a major difference not under boost. I think it's a solid alternative with proper mods to your fuel system
Ok, so these are basically souped up blends. Of course, they will make more power. Also, an independent test from an unbiased 3rd party makes more sense without the manufacturer present.
IMHO, pump E85 with content E sensor and flex fuel is the most cost effective. If need be add some X98 to bring it up in ethanol %.
Would you be interested in testing ETS Racing Fuels Z85?
E85 has a negative affect on some engine oils ! - i saw a subaru sump full of black jelly = it said E85.
I have ran pump e85, c85, and One ethanol R in my new 13:1 voodoo and the car loves c85 the best. Runs better, sounds better, makes more power and the burn is significantly better in my application. Nothing bad to say about One R, but the octane is a bit too high for my application, and seems to make my throttle a little sluggish, and the burn doesn’t seem as complete. Sticking to c85 all the way
C85 contains nitro methane
@@rongosick4546 yup, as long as your injectors specifically state they can handle MTBE and nitro you shouldn’t run it
Over 20-25psi of boost, sure get the good stuff. For me a Turbo LS shitbox on the street, pump E85 is all I need
I had Sunoco e85 sealed in 5 gallon drums stored in a cool location go bad within a year
Pretty sure he said these gains were over regular E85. So it would be even more of a gain over pump 91-93
Yes !
Looking at their pamphlet, VP always claims X% over other fuels. I've never seen real gains other than CHP+ and Q-16. C-12 compared to VP113 were identical in my combo, with C-12 taking the win as a fuel you can forget practically for years in the cell whereas the VP113 has special storage requirements. FWIW all the Q-16 tests I've run were worth 5 to 15 HP over the base fuel the engine was tested on.
Just filled up with E-85 that tested at E-79 for $3.12 a gallon , switched from pump 91 octane a while back , I'll never go back to 91 octane .
Gasoline and ethanol are not soluble. In the past benzole was used to bind the two. What is used today?
I know someone just tested Nitro Top Fuel I think it's $399 for 5 gallons they took a beat-up LS1 5.3 lm7 did a dino number Maid 279 HP 303 foot pounds of torque... did not touch timing or anything I think... just adding the fuel in hit the Dino and I think the next pass was 500 + horsepower
Lol sure..
Can you run a supply hose to my house please? thanks
Should I run top oil with C85?
Do they still have e85 at the pumps still,
Can a fbo lt1 with dsx fuel kit tuned. run c85 for a roll night here and their??
So what AFR is the C85 ?? I want a jug ! Lol
C85 can make more but not standard x85. Maybe x85L can due extra octane.
I doubt x98 will make more.
Better do a cylinder leak test before you wrap it with a Corvette. Lot of breather action.
You’re seeing moisture being cooked out by the oil temps, nothing to worry about
What was the alcohol content in the pump e85 that you used.
85%
@@JacobVillemain we dont get e85 that is 85 percent usually 70. But it works
Paying for a fuel like X98 just to pick up 15HP, along with needing to change your base fuel just flat out isn't worth it for the large majority of people. You're wayy more financially better off taking 75lbs of weight off the car or throwing a cheap dry kit on and spraying a 50 shot.
15HP NA isn't worth it?! You must not do any NA racing.
You dont need to change the fueling if your ecu is setup correctly with a flex sensor. But yeah, not worth it on these type of engines.
How about 15% to 20% nitro methane!
What was the alcohol content of the pump E85?
85%
"Approximately" 85%
@@oscaracme 85%
Without the dollar per gallon compared its not realistic comparison it's a Ad.
The VP is $17 per gallon
Hard to justify the price when Pump 85 is $3 a gallon.
C85 is king.
Then you are over fueling. Getting too much ethanol and n the oil. Another reason not to run it. Engine wear. Same with the drag engines I’ve worked with.
Pump e85 about $3 gallon, bet the VP is 20+ per gallon….
$13.40 per gallon for X85L and $17.00 per gallon for C85 compared to $3.35 per gallon for pump shell where I live. Your prices are higher then giraffe pussy for what little increase of performance you get.
Another Holdener level of a useless and incomplete test.
