Hey all, thank you for all the support we've received recently! It is truly appreciated! This video took a lot of time to edit, but we're so happy looking back at all the memories! What's your favourite part about Malaysia? 🥰🇲🇾
Hi, I just would like to clarify here. The Malays, Chinese, Indians, Sikhs, Kadazans, Ibans and all other races, we are all referred to as MALAYSIANS. I think when you said the peranakan food is a mixture of "Malaysian" and Chinese, you meant "a mixture of Malay and Chinese cuisines", right? Actually, many foreigners don't understand that 'Malaysia' is the name of this Country. 'Malay' is the name of the dominant race here.
Love your channel as both of you come across as quite genuine people 😊. Malaysia is underrated, quality of life is actually quite high once you earn above a certain amount - and this threshold is lower than that in the UK for sure. Sure it has its challenges, but people are nice and lifestyle is incredible. Weather can be too humid for some.
That's such a lovely comment, thank you! We try to be as genuine as possible so I'm glad it comes across through our channel ☺️ we love being in Malaysia, it definitely feels like home from home to us now. I think we're just about getting used to the weather also 😂
Oh same as me, I'm a mix too..Malay Johor on my dad's side and UK on my mum's side. Cheers for making the video and showing off Malaysia’s culture and beauty to the world. Proper chuffed cause Malaysia's like a second home for you two, lovely couple❤
Oh really, so do you like in Malaysia or the UK? Thank you so much for taking the time to leave such a lovely comment 🥰 It's our pleasure, we love making videos about Malaysia and showing off this lovely country 🇲🇾 💖
Happy to see you guys enjoying Malaysia. I am also of mixed parentage melayu-cina. My siblings all have mixed features of malay n chinese. From varying skin colour n face features especially in eyes. N when some of my siblings marry partners with indian blood, their children have very interesting mixed features. Do you notice this in Malaysia. If a chinese marry an indian, their children often looked like a malay. Truly malaysian. This is what i love about my fellow countrymen.
It's so beautiful the mix of cultures and ethnicities in Malaysia. It's such a privilege to have Malaysian blood in me, I'm so proud! Not to mention the food 😂🤤 Also
It makes me happy you two could make it here. It makes sense what you say. Culture, people, food and experience fit for a place of living. Though the UK is lovely, we are pleased to have you for every steps you have taken and colors you have brought to this tiny country.🎉😊
That's such a kind comment, it's really made our day ☺️ we really love this country and everything it has to offer. As you said, the UK is really nice in parts, but we're falling for Malaysia 😍
I’ve always enjoyed your videos. Trust me there’s a lot more you can vlog in Malaysia. I’m 48 and I am still exploring it! Btw, all of us are Malaysians as our national identity, regardless of our race/culture of Malay, Chinese, Indian, Iban, Kadazan, Sikh, Orang Asli etc.
Aww thank you so much, we love seeing comments like this of people who have been following our journey! Where's your favourite place to visit in Msia? ☺️
@@DisappearforDays I love all parts of Malaysia.. the East Coast states of Terengganu followed by Kelantan would be the best for me.. culturally authentic, amazing forests, mountains and islands, kampung and beach vibes, laid back friendly people... you can really get lost in time..or lose track of time
@@DisappearforDaysThe Petronas Twin Towers are also one of my favorites things about Malaysia. Few of the objectives of KLCC, were to give KL, Malaysia, an iconic landmark, and the Petronas Twin Towers as a symbol of Malaysia economic miracle in the 1990s. Now the symbol has been renewed by the PNB Merdeka 118 Tower, soon to be occupied by tenants and soon the observation deck, located on one of the highest in the world, will be opened to the public. 😀
@@DisappearforDays Yes, variety mix of architecture, old and new, all blending in together. I also like the architecture of the colonial buildings built by the British. Dataran Merdeka and its vicinity has some of the most beautiful colonial buildings, the Sultan Abdul Samad Building, the Masjed Jameq Mosque, the KTM old train station and its administrative building etc. Ipoh and Penang also have many colonial buildings. Those colonial buildings have so much characters of an architecture aesthetic values. 😀
I've followed your adventure off and on for the last year and a half. I'm originally from KL and now live in California. What kept me coming back to your videos was watching Jacob lean into more and more of his Malaysian side. Also, watching you, Emma being supportive and also making your own culture shift and adjustments... bumps and all. It has been lovely and I'm looking forward to more of your adventures. Cheers and adventure on!
That's such a lovely comment, it's really made our day 😊 we love seeing people follow our journey over time and we hope our videos help you get to know us as people. We're so happy when we're in Malaysia, it really is like a second home to us now. Thank you for your support all this time ❤️
What a wonderful video. Thank you so much for moving to Malaysia and also keep coming back to Malaysia. Hope that life is treating you guys very well here in Malaysia.
I love watching traveler UA-camrs like you guys, I watch a lot of such videos, and it has spurred something in me to travel. I usually just travel around Malaysia southern states, I recently went to Penang, and going to Shanghai in February and more countries after that hopefully. Happy Travels to everyone travelling, it has made me so happy travelling and coming out of my comfort zone.
That's absolutely amazing, we are so glad we've contributed to encouraging you to travel more. You should be so proud of yourself for pushing yourself out of your comfort zone. As you'll know, for Emma it wasn't easy either, and at times for me also. But we've loved it and don't regret it one bit. We would love to go to Shanghai sometime soon! Happy travelling ❤️
Malaysians can eat a variety of cuisines every day, whether Malay, Chinese, Indian, western, Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese, Thai, Arabic, Borneo, etc.. Malaysian tastes are always changing in food.

Oh. You are actually half Malaccan. I am in NZ now but I am a Malaccan too....all my family members still in Malaysia but part is still in Malacca and half is in KL.
Oh, I thought the shorts came first. Well, parts of my guesses was correct, right? I never knew that you have Malaysian side family. What it feels like born to multiracial families? Thanks for this video❤
Haha, you learn something new everyday! I love my half Malaysian side as much and my English side. I'm proud of it! It's weird in some ways being born into a multiracial family, but it's great. People back home say I look Asian, whereas people here say I look Angmoh 😂 but it was really nice as a kid being able to experience this culture and life that many fully English kids wouldn't be able to experience. 😊❤️🇲🇾
@@DisappearforDays Wow, that's great. Keep up the good work Jacob and Emma too. I really get to know you guys better since I am a new subscriber as well. Need to do some catch-up from your past videos later. The reason behind why I like to see travellers go to Malaysia is that I can learn to appreciate and respect the culture of my own and culture of other countries. I also get to improve my English and that's why I like to jump in to the comment section. Love you guys. Selamat datang ke Malaysia❤️🇲🇾🇲🇾
Yeah, your English is almost perfect! Really impressive and much better than our BM... 😬 Thank you for watching! I hope our videos help with you learning English more 😊
I think as a Malaysian, one of the reasons why Malaysians are friendly towards foreigners is because we are able to communicate in English so we don't shy away from them.
Definitely, we've found that to! We love how easy it is to communicate with people as foreigners, but hopefully over time will be able to transition more to Bahasa ❤️🇲🇾
Nope we don't speak Tamil, Urdu, Mandarin, Hindi, Vietnam etc. We just welcome everyone regardless of the language barrier. We even welcome the Portuguese the dutch the Brits before they attack us Anyone is welcome even Nort Korea well except Israel.
You don't need to other country..just go Sabah the go to Sarawak by road then your visa will be stamped at the Sabah Sarawak border. Even Malaysian from Peninsular Malaysia also need a passport when they are going to Sabah and Sarawak because Peninsular,Sabah and Sarawak have a different law of the border.Maybe you can double check about this ✔️
Thanks for the tip! When we went to Sabah last year they stamped us in and out, but we don't think it renewed the 90 day visa. We also don't like doing border hops in general as well though, as the immigration officers don't like it. So we try to abide by the rules and keep on their good sides 😅

Thank you for the heads up and so glad you enjoyed! Unfortunately we're quite busy catching up on editing now Rob has gone, but the event looks amazing! Maybe next year we can do so 😄
Because M'sia countries of various nationalities all over the world can live together. For example, try to see many foreigners working in M'sia and marrying local citizens & mastering the language. People
Food & Malaysians are almost sacred, some would travel miles and miles just to have that one specific taste of a particular type of Asam Laksa (for instance)... this goes for all foods by the way :)
If you're into architecture, then you should check out the kampung houses because since they're made of timber, they're disappearing. Only old people live i them because the kids went to live in towns and cities for work. So the the old folks died, those house fell into disuse and then disrepair and replace by the kids with modern style houses. They're going out the way of the dodo
We love the Kampung and more traditional houses, but are sometimes a bit afraid to ask to look inside incase people think we are being nosey. We did see one in Malaka last year though, and it was so nice to see that kind of house 😊

Malaysian people can accept various cultures, religions & races.. Malays have a lot of marriages and other races and their food is delicious and varied.
That's so interesting! With your Malay friend, was this to 4 different people? Sorry we don't know how it all works, it sounds like a lot of marriage 😅
I suggest you try to speak or response in Malay frequently especially towards the malays. They will automatically speak malay. No worries, you can still survive in malaysia without knowing malay. We even have news in 4 different languages here to keep you up to date.
The news in all the languages is very useful! We try to speak as much Malay as possible when asking about food, clothing, and general talk. We're learning slowly but surely ☺️
That's a really good saying, we've never heard it before. It's so true! At the time the video of Emma in Malaysia alone came out, we had people from all races and religions being really horrible in our comments without doing their research. We don't mind and try not to take it to heart, as content creators, there will always be haters, just gotta block them out and focus on the nice guys ✌️
That's the best you can do really. I don't think UA-cam monitors behaviour like that closely, but we do try to keep on to of hate comments and remove/ban them 😊
Malaysian is citizenship. Malay or Melayu is an ethnic. As you mentioned before, Peranakan cuisine is mix of Chinese and Malaysian. It should be *Malay not Malaysian.
Yeah, I realised once we'd filmed and was editing that I mispronounced that part. It's a struggle to get a full sentence out of me without fumbling words at the best of times 😅
@@DisappearforDays It would probably do well. And, if I'm not wrong, Cornish pasties were for the miners working in the tin mines of Cornwall back in the Victorian era, the miners with their not so clean hands when working the mines would hold both ends of the pasties and just eat the middle portion. No hand washing facilities inside the mines. Probably why karipap is popular here....the State of Perak used to have many tin mines too. Food for thought, literally. Lol...

Oh. You are actually half Malaccan. I am in NZ now but I am a Malaccan too....all my family members still in Malaysia but part is still in Malacca and half is in KL.
Oh really! Yes I love Malacca, such a nice town! I think it was my great Grandpa who owned a shop on jalan bunga raya 😊❤️
lovely couple ❤
What a lovely comment, thank you so much 😊🥰
welcome malaysia, stay safe, stay health.. salam, from kedah, Malaysia ❤ 🎉...
Thank you so much 😊😊
Welcome to Malaysia..🇲🇾
Thank you, we love it here 🥰
Welcome back guys..to Malaysia
Thanks so much 😊😊
Oh, I thought the shorts came first.
@@emanuellgabrielYour English is fantastic brother!
Yeah, your English is almost perfect! Really impressive and much better than our BM... 😬 Thank you for watching! I hope our videos help with you learning English more 😊
The event name is ngoca ..nearby sri menanti palace in kuala pilah, negeri sembilan..you also can try negeri sembilan food also..
That sounds like a really interesting event to go to, but unfortunately we are in KL celebrating Malaysia day on the 14th! 😭
Nice video.. 👍
Thank you ☺️🇲🇾

😃😃
Welcome back to Malaysia.
Malaysia is truly Asia.
Malaysia Boleh. 🎉🎉🎉
Thank you so much 🥰
We're so happy to be back in Malaysia for the next few months 💖
So much more to explore...Terengganu island, Sabah and Sarawak
I know! 😅 So much to see here 😃
I think as a Malaysian, one of the reasons why Malaysians are friendly towards foreigners is because we are able to communicate in English so we don't shy away from them.
We even welcome the Portuguese the dutch the Brits before they attack us
Anyone is welcome even Nort Korea well except Israel.
Welcome ❤🎉🎉
Thank you so much 😊😊
You don't need to other country..just go Sabah the go to Sarawak by road then your visa will be stamped at the Sabah Sarawak border. Even Malaysian from Peninsular Malaysia also need a passport when they are going to Sabah and Sarawak because Peninsular,Sabah and Sarawak have a different law of the border.Maybe you can double check about this ✔️
Malaysian from peninsular Malaysia only need to provide IC to enter Sabah & Sarawak.
Thanks for the tip! When we went to Sabah last year they stamped us in and out, but we don't think it renewed the 90 day visa. We also don't like doing border hops in general as well though, as the immigration officers don't like it. So we try to abide by the rules and keep on their good sides 😅

Because M'sia countries of various nationalities all over the world can live together. For example, try to see many foreigners working in M'sia and marrying local citizens & mastering the language. People
That's right, it's so nice having such a mix of nationalities and ethnicities. 😊
Food & Malaysians are almost sacred, some would travel miles and miles just to have that one specific taste of a particular type of Asam Laksa (for instance)... this goes for all foods by the way :)
Haha definitely! Once you have found your good makan spot, none else can beat it right! 🤤
@@DisappearforDaysIn Alor Setar,Kedah the old house of Tun M (Mahathir our ex-Prime Minister) House is old kampong house. You can Google on it. KTM train has route to go Alor Setar 4hrs 45mins or so. On the 17-20Sept at Mitec there is a halal expo. Who knows you may opportunity to start business between the 2 countries.

I love Malaysia because the diversity of race, religion and culture.
We feel exactly the same, it makes for such a great country 🥰
If both of you do visit Kuching, Sarawak, one of these days hit me up...I can show you around, including visiting some nice waterfall
Thank you so much for the offer, we love a good waterfall, especially being shown by locals as we're not keen on really touristy places so we'd definitely be up for that!
Thanks again, we'll keep it mind when we visit 🥰

That's such a nice comment, thank you for the suggestion also! We have rented a car before, and have talked about doing a road trip down the east coast of Malaysia, we just need to figure it all out and when we are free to do so! It would be epic 😁
@@DisappearforDays welcome very3 much Jacob&Emma👩❤️👨
It's ok good
Enjoy your day
Hope that you can be a little "ambassadors" to Malaysia.. Firstly, you have to know Malaysians background especially the people.. Your mum from Malacca, Malacca is truly Malaysia 🇲🇾
Btw, your name is Jacob in Malay called Ya'kob or more familiar with Akob..😁
Emma and Akob, to win Malaysian viewers heart please try to speak Malay then Chinese and indian..it will make them love you more 👍☺️
We hope to be so too, we really love this country! We're always willing to learn more about Malaysia and promote this country to other people looking to come here! Emma and Akob, we love it! 😂 We are trying to learn more and more Malay and we are getting there. I'd love to learn Chinese but it's such a difficult language 😬
Fun fact: Malaysia is one of the country with the most public holidays in a year, not including weekends 😂
It's crazy how many there seems to be! My family always seem to be on holidays 😂
Yes my international professor at university hated it so much. Why WHY Malaysia is always CUTI 😂😂😂
@@arinamy6168 you have never seen Europeans taking their summer holiday right? end of the year too. actually, the amount is similar but we have scattered holidays due to the melting pot nation. not that we are less productive than European or America. your professor should stick with teaching. lol.
Its happen on 14 and 15 sept this coming saturday
Malaysian people can accept various cultures, religions & races.. Malays have a lot of marriages and other races and their food is delicious and varied.
I attended my Malay best friend's wedding four times within 7 years and the interesting part is that i was his best man 4 times. What an honour!
That's so interesting! With your Malay friend, was this to 4 different people? Sorry we don't know how it all works, it sounds like a lot of marriage 😅
Malaysia, truly Asia 🇲🇾
Please keep Malaysia underrated 🤭
Haha very true! We just love it too much, we can't stop telling people 😅😅
I suggest you try to speak or response in Malay frequently especially towards the malays.
You should see the Masjid Cina in Klang
I've just googled and it looks amazing so we'll definitely add that to the list for if we're ever in the area.
Thanks for the suggestion 😊
❤
Thank you for watching! ❤️❤️
Have you guys been to Kuching, Sarawak? 😊❤
Not yet unfortunately. It's definitely on the list though 😀
@@DisappearforDays ❤️
If people say something bad about you. Judge you as if they know you. Don't feel bad, just remember "dogs bark if they don't know the person".
@@DisappearforDays I wish I could block the haters but I can't. So I normally put thumbs down to their comments and make a report.
Those with families will definitely choose Malaysia... those who are single will choose Thailand and the rich will choose Singapore.
Hahaha, that could well be the case. We don't have a family just yet but still prefer Malaysia though 😅
Hello hai... So I can say, Jacob awak orang Melaka la yer 🤗 coz your mom from Melaka 😊👏🎉
What is the term for people originating from Melaka? Melakanese? But I'm glad I've been accepted 😊 😂

Here's something...I've never seen/eaten Cornish pasties here in Malaysia, only karipap (curry puffs). Lol.....btw, ex Kingstonian here
I can't imagine seeing cornish pasties in Malaysia but I'm sure they'd sell great! 😀Now there's an idea! 😂
Lol...
