CNMI Gov. Palacios provides 902 talks update

Northern Mariana Islands Governor Arnold Palacios said The White House is identifying who will represent President Joe Biden in upcoming 902 talks.
“They are trying their best to expedite that appointment…We need to be patient…but the assurance is that it will happen,” Palacios told KUAM News in a one-on-one interview Thursday afternoon.
The governor hopes the official process will begin in July with a letter from The White House. He said they plan to hold working sessions next week to plan for the talks. He said, “The last thing I want to see is we are not very clear as to what it is we want to discuss and we want to be very clear and not wordy in what we would like to see discussed.”
In May, Palacios officially initiated the process for 902 talks with The White House in a letter he sent to Biden. He said they are also in discussion with federal agencies about funding for the talks.
