IN April 2022, My husband & I, along with our dog Duke, were camping at Baileys Point Campground. … at same time you guys were! Thanks for the tour of A.L.F.! I greatly enjoyed it!
We love our A213hwesp. We have made shelves for our dry food over the sink. We have plastic drawers for our clothes and sit them on the end of our dinette we go for 1-2 weeks at a time . We are also on year 3 and would not trade it for anything Thanks for sharing
Terry loves A-Frames so we will enjoy this review! Looks like you have a lot of storage! Love the sink! It looks a lot roomier than I thought it would be. We will be going full time soon in our tent... We decided we wanted to be closer to nature. Enjoyed the review guys!! 💗👍
Terry really loves the A-Frames so we enjoyed watching your review! Looks like you have plenty of storage... Love your sink! I am surprised how much room you have in there - very nice! Enjoyed the review!
@@HappyTrailsHiking Oh wow - my comment had disappeared so I did another one so if you see two just disregard one! LOL The second one disappeared as well so happy you see it though! You are very welcome!!
I’ve been looking at A Liners for a while now but this is the first Forest River I’ve seen. Looks like the Forest river offer more storage. Thanks for sharing
I havnt gotten any notifications on your videos lately, we are looking at getting a camper,,we have always stayed in hotels, b&bs, cruise ships. But with covid and us getting older we are on a more restricted diet so having your own place and being able to cook your own food would be nice. I have been looking at teardrop campers but most have no storage, your camper has incredible amounts of storage compared to teardrops and alot of small campers. Only concern is how it holds up construction wise, leaks? Strong winds etc.😎😀
Great to see you. We have slowed our creating a bit. We haven't had any issues with winds (and we have been through a storm or two. :-) Alf is garage kept and we haven't had any leaks in the 3 seasons we have had him. There is lots of storage for short trips.
Interesting review. It seems alot to do with the style of camping you want. This summer we did 2 weeks in the Adirondacks without electric hookup. It was awesome and cool enough to not need AC. We store our clothes in bins under the table as we do not use it either.
While I’ve had various campers, including several pop-up campers. Currently have a 30’ towable RV with slideout and the space is great, but it’s time to downsize. This A frame seems like a compromise between a full fledged hard sided RV and a pop up camper. Looks very easy to set up. It doesn’t sound like you’ve had any major maintenance issues but would like to confirm that. Of course garage storing it help extends its life.
My wife and I went to a dealer today...and really like the Flagstaff hardside.... In your video you mentioned after a year. The motorized pop-up function failed..... And you manually raised it.... This was a concern of mine after watching a demo video..... I was just wondering if you could explain how you solved that Problem..... Thank you, your video was very helpful. Hopefully someday when we get our pop-up.. We can share our experiences with you...😊
Fortunately, Matt is 6 foot tall and in relatively good shape, and can lift the roof. It just pops into place pretty easily. If I had to do it by myself, it would be another story.
I am looking at Aframe pop-up trailers because at 67, I want something that gives me more shelter than a tent, and that won't get torn to shreds in a wind storm. I camp in Death Valley National Park for 2~3 weeks every winter, and they can get these 50 to 60 mph desert wind storms that can last 36 hours or more. Being in a tent when one of these hits is miserable. But the tow limit on my Rav4 is only 2500 pounds, so the camper has to be no more than maybe 1400 pounds max dry weight. The Aliner Scout Lite is light enough, but with only a 10 foot box, it's really small, so I am looking at other makes to see in I can get something with a 12 to 14 foot box that would still be under 1600 pounds.
In your opinion as seasonsed a-framers, would a Flagstaff A-frame a little smaller than yours (T12RBRT specifically), be rugged enough for an extended road trip for a solo traveler with a dog? Or are they just not up to the task, and are more suited for weekend tripping? I've got a Honda Ridgeline, so storage woudn't be an issue. Thanks much!
That is a good question. We took ours from Missouri to Rocky Mountain NP on one trip and from Missouri to Salt Lake City and the up to Grand Teton NP on another. They can take long trips. We just like to have more room (we like our own space sometimes)
@@HappyTrailsHiking Oh, I see. Thanks for your quick reply! I had barely checked the chicken wings in the air fryer after posting…and there you were. Ha! So the camper can take it, but it’s more of how we handle those close quarters with each other. Makes perfect sense. Your trip sounds great. Your videos are informative and inspiring. :)
you know im not a camper guy but this was very interesting, quite the awesome set up in there! love all the out side storage too great video!! how do you like that refrigerator cooler thing?
Hey, Thorn. Thanks for always finding good things. We like this camper because we still spend most of our time outside and Air conditioning is important in the Midwest. Ha! As for the cooler, we like it. First run was a success. It was nice to have in the truck and kept every cool while we drove 5 hours.
You mentioned one item that broke within the first year. What else, if anything, has broken during the time that you’ve owned it? And, did you fix it, replace it, or live with it as is?
We only owned it for 4 years and don’t still own it. (Just wanted to add perspective of you looked at the date of the video. 😊) The hinge on the counter that covers the toilet had the screws come out. We fixed it ourselves before we traded it in. It was a great camper!! We will probably buy another one when life allows.
Hi, great video. We have a similar unit, the Rockwood A122 ESPBH. This is our first winter and we noticed condensation under the mattress. The unit was resealed and there are no leaks around the bubble window. Have you ever dealt with this? If so, any suggestions ?
We have not had that issue. Ours is garage stored, we haven't gotten it out since we winterized, but we will sure check that in a few weeks when we do get it out. My only guess might be the folding seem and actual condensation at the joint.
We are always honest. 😊 We have been through a couple of storms and strong winds in ALF when we had it. It shakes a lot in the wind. We never had any significant lakes in the three years we owned it. The seals were quite tight. Reminder, it was always garage kept after it came off of the dealer lot. There are never any guarantees against leaking. But we found ours to be a safe and dry place to be during a rain and thunderstorm.
Definitely not better than tent camping. Actual camping is so much better. Although, I’ve been looking for something like this for my extended 1-2 week long trips, and spend the week working while traveling. You mentioned a switch broke during the first season. Is that the power switch that raises and lowers the top? If so, do you just manually raise/lower it?
My Forest River Flagstaff A-frame camper (from the same year) was falling apart after 3 years. The skylight over the bed was warping away from the roof and leaking on all 4 corners. The roof warrantee doesn't cover the skylight. Water ruined my mattress, soaked through the bed support and ran out through the storage area. Forest River recommends having the camper professionally inspected and sealed "TWICE A YEAR" at a dealership. They were unsympathetic. Oddly enough the salespeople don't advertise those things. The walls are made of aluminum panels and they have a Styrofoam core. So the screws are screwed into Styrofoam. I had wall sections coming unscrewed from the hinges. I would never recommend this camper to anyone. Absolute junk. The manufacturer gets horrible scores with the better business bureau. Buyer Beware.
My experience wasn't as bad as your but during am extremely heavy Thunderstorm with heavy rain all night long Mine leaked while popped up and Created a soft spot in the floor and that was after one night of leaking

Hi, Diana (and Duke)! Thanks for stopping by in person and now virtually! It was great to meet you! Safe travels and Happy Camping this season!
I have the same camper without the Tapout and it is great . After some modifications we have used it many times up to 3 months .
Wow!! That’s great!! Thanks for the review!
Great upload 😊 TFS 🌈

Catching up after our weekend away. Great review and I came to similar conclusions to you. I will stick to what we have though as we love Desmond LOL
I missed this comment a week ago, David. Thank you for making it. Every rig has its own issues. We are happy with what we have.
Great job guys 💪🤠👍

Love the name. Thanks for the review. I was looking at a Jayco toy hauler but it doesn't have a toilet. It does have a lot of storage space.
Nice. Thanks for stopping in
these are very appealing over regular pop ups imo
We really like ours.
Thanks for keeping it real
You’re welcome. Thank you
Did you look in to trail manor? They seem like a perfect fit as well.
Thanks for the tip.
I have basically the camper. Completely self-contained and comfortable for two. We would like to add a third bed, but cannot figure out how to do it.
I can't believe it's been three years already!
Seems like a much shorter time.
Great info, TY

I heard there are a lot of structural issues that develope long term? Many suggest getting the Aliner campers.
We didn’t have structural issues with our in the time we had it. We have never owned an Aliner. Can’t compare. Sorry.

What did you end up getting?
Can you put a kayak on top for travel?
I don’t know the answer to that. Probably should check the FR website.

Thanks!!
We are always honest. 😊 We have been through a couple of storms and strong winds in ALF when we had it.

Have you guys had any water leaks coming inside Alf during storms?
This is our most popular question. No. Alf is garage kept.
We just went out for a week in Kentucky and it rained every day. We had no problems.

The actuator on the arm that raises the roof failed after the first season. We manually listed the roof together after that.
How many cup holders do you need?
😉🤣

You point out the lift button quit the first season and then don't tell (show would be HUGE) how to set it up without the button working.
Good point. This has been a few years ago. I feel like we showed that in At least one video. We just over head-pressed the roof up
