As a Kiwi, I can also confirm that Daniel was there. NZ is a very small place, so you can't walk down the street without going through Tim's living room. Needless to say I was very surprised when I saw Daniel just chilling and watching season 2 of this godly show.
As an Australian who watched this ages ago and wondered why the hell nobody was talking about it, it's nice that a couple of UA-camrs I follow have gotten around to it and are gushing about it. Phenomenal show.
I truly enjoy obeying the law and watching shows through legal means by applying for residency in New Zealand and by acquiring shows in absolutely no other way, shape, or form. "Your mind would be the same" I actually just talked about this over on Bluesky this morning, but it absolutely would not. People who talk about this stuff always ignore just how much of your personality is based on hormones. You are a different person when you're hungry. Horny. Tired. When your adrenaline is high, when your adrenaline is low, when your cortisol is high or low, etc. The impact that hormones have on who you are cannot be overstated.
I 100 percent agree. But hormone activity could also be simulated as well perhaps. It would only be simulated so that a human would think like a human and not like a machine that is based on human memories. So UI's in Pantheon I assumed did that kind of simulating because they were emotional.
In the show they mention that all the SIs have completely simulated bodies. It's not just their minds, it's the whole deal. So hormones would be included.
You are your body, if your body don’t exist, you do not exist. Uploading yourself to the digital world is just creating a digital clone. You need to belive that souls exist and they are tangible things to be convinced of something like that is actually you.
The thing is that to prove to ourselves that uploading your mind would be a 1:1 transfer, we'd first have to demonstrate that we could _make_ a full-on human from scratch that could reproduce because that is the only reliable proof we have that they're a reliable human. Then we could use that same code to simulate a physical body. I believe in "souls", whatever that means to you personally, so this whole thing would be quite complicated. Could we create beings from scratch that are so complex and intelligent that they would have their own souls?
Not to mention, the hardware running the uploaded minds is completely different to brains. It is a facsimile, not to mention whether it is functioning as more of a 'Chinese Room' or Philosophical Zombie: appearing conscious but it really isn't. Can computer code ever become conscious? I certainly don't know. But the bottom line is, without a soul, the upload is merely a copy that thinks it is the person, as the actual person's brain is destroyed in the process. There are interesting parrallels here to a certain character in Christopher Ruocchio's Sun Eater, too

A Big Tech-critical show about *selfish factions ruining something for everyone as they fight over who gets to control it* being dismembered and denied an audience the way it was is too ironic for words. Somehow, despite it all, it turned out to be a genuinely very good piece of science fiction. Highly recommended! If you can *"send a clone to New Zealand"* it's well worth it! She literally creates billions upon billions of sentient beings who experience tremendous suffering - billions of hitters, Dalmers, countless victims of the most heinous crimes imaginable - all in an attempt to recreate the real world as accurately as possible just to bring back her loved ones.
@Blate1 I think that's a matter of perspective. It's the same philosophical question of whether God can truly be good if suffering exists in the world in any capacity. Like Maddie said, she engineered so many new worlds but chose not to intervene in the choices of the people, ultimately leaving the success or demise of civilizations up to those within them.
I’ve been a huge fan since the channel started and it’s what got me into reading and finding out how much I love reading horror and fantasy. Lately I’ve been going through a rough patch in life so I’ve been drowning myself in reading (found the poppy war and am obsessed with it now reading the second book) and it’s insane to me that I wouldn’t have this hobby that lets me forget stressful things in life without this channel. Not only did I fall in love with reading but it’s also helped me learn because I was always a terrible reader and now I can definitely say I’m above average and it’s something I’m proud of. Sorry for the long message but I really wanted to thank you, you’re the best.💪
My first introduction to Pantheon was watching clips of season 2 on UA-cam. I found all of the full episodes here on youtube. I was trying to figure out if I wanted to put in the time to watch it the series so I watched an episode... I ended up watching the last episode of the series without knowing it was the last episode... That made me want to watch the series even more. It is worth the watch.
@@itsme_Dio I accidentally watched the final episode on UA-cam because the person made it the first episode on the playlist. It was so good I watched the entire series just to find out what tf was going on.
Pantheon is incredible. I don't like to explain any part of the show to anyone and just tell people I think will enjoy it to watch it. Pretty much everything relevant to the plot is a mistery at some point in the story.
I'm so happy to see Daniel covering Pantheon! I remember binge-watching it when it came out, and I absolutely loved it. I was shocked that none of my friends had watched it yet. It's such a fantastic show, and I 100% agree with everything Daniel said in this video. While the animation isn't groundbreaking, the story and characters are dynamic and compelling, in my opinion.
Pantheon is one of my favorite shows of all time, had a friend beg me to watch it but I put it off forever because it wasn’t on any streaming services. (this was before netflix licensed season 1) So happy your bringing more attention to it it needs more attention.
God damn, thanks for sharing info about this stuff. Found out about it from your video. Watched it today, now i'm in a bit of existential crisis, but in a good way. Returned to watch the actual video. Previously i stopped to avoid spoilers.
My favourite stylised battle of a non-physical conflict was from the second season of "legion" where animated avatars of the characters fought in the sky as samurai, then with flamethrowers, then ones a tank but the villain is smoke. That or the rap battle against the anthropomorphism of the big bad wolf .
YES! I love Pantheon, it's amazing! As an Australian I actually had no idea that season 2 wasn't available in most of the world which is really damn sad, though I have heard that it was originally planned to have 3 seasons and the issues around releasing S2 caused them to compress the story a bit. Still worked out great but it's disappointing that we didn't get more of it, I definitely see how the two halves of S2 could have been their own separate seasons and I'm eternally mad they got screwed over in production.
Yay, I'm glad you watched Pantheon. I am still mad at AMC for ditching this show for a tax write off. And this doesn't include the poor marketing surround the show. However, it was one of the best things I watched in a long time. It's on of those shows that I can't explain other than, "you need to watch it."
I can't tell you how long I've been waiting for someone to rave about this show as much, if not significantly more than me. Watched this show as it was airing and lost count of the amount of times I've audibly gasped per episode. I do remember that there was an upload error during season 2 that made it a bit difficult to watch. The problem being that episodes aired out of order. Truly believe this is one of the best sci-fi shows I've seen in a long time, aside from The Foundation which is a bit of a guilty pleasure for its visuals.
I live only an island away from Tim and saw the second season of this first because Prime didn't show that a first season existed for the first few weeks. That was a confusing first few episodes until I realized it HAD to be a second season, or possibly a third. And yeah, saw it, accidentially fell in love with the characters. Especially the Mom and ex-fighter pilot. Loved that ending even more though
Finally, someone watched it that has some reach. Though this really dashes the six degrees of separation idea, there were a good 2000 people on Reddit who had seen the show and have been looking to share it with the world.
omg, I saw the first season when it came out on streaming and I thought it was interesting, good voice acting and script, when I finished it I thought I saw that a second season was not approved and in my mind it stayed like those series that you resign yourself you'll never be able to see its conclusion.... UNTIL TODAY, thank you for making me remember this series. The last two chapters blew my mind!!! I don't understand how they could cancel its global launch!!! God! I finished watching it 5 minutes ago and I'm in shock.
the game of thrones horse stirrup bit is killing me. dogmatic commitment to realism with no real purpose beyond 'because its realistic' is so exhausting
I can't argue with anything you say. It's a great show. Season 2 is available here on UA-cam, at least as of a couple days ago. I wonder if I should say, but I also want more folk to watch it. I think it suffered from sudden cancellation, as the ending felt rushed to me, though the story they were going for seemed worth it. God, I wish someone would fund a S3.
What a great show! I remember reading an article about how good the series was and sought it out on Amazon and bought the first season and devoured it. when i found out there was a 2nd season i remember searching everywhere to find it. what an amazing piece of scifi!
I'm thankful that someone with interests similar to mine will keep up with all the new stuff for me and tell me what's worth experiencing. Never heard of it before this videos but Pantheon sounds great, I'm gonna watch it tonight :)
I feel your pain...The moral dillema you faced with trying to watch season 2 of this is the exact same thing I go through for everything because I'm in Iran and trust me EVERYTHING is blocked like this for me I've come to terms with my existence. I believe piracy is not good when it ends up losing compensation for a potential person in the market, but if the person pirating the thing IS NOT EVEN IN THE TARGET MARKET, I.E not sold to them by..I don't know being blocked for them? what harm can be caused if that person pirates or not? They won't lose any customers either way.
Pantheon left me with a lot of questions. Like what age differences I am ok with for teenagers dating. Apart from that, amazing series, ending felt a bit rushed, but I assume that is due to corporate bs.
Dear Daniel, I was looking for something to watch. I was excited to try this. But then I watched it all in one sitting, and my problem now is I still have nothing to watch. Dammit! (though I don't have a clone to send to NZ atm)
The setup is very nice but overall I agree with the three points you mentioned: It should be slightly less symmetrical, for example, the center of the shelves a little bit to the right and you sligh bit to the left, closer to the curtains (they work nicely btw, it let us know you are in a nice space and not in a "spaceship" studio; Also, definetly filling those spaces in the back with something not too visually heavy would help.
Man could have used a VPN set in New Zealand but he went the extra of sailing over to watch... The seas must have been nice this time of year. Yarr.... And yes it is a great show and being part of the Animation supremacy camp they did good on choosing that. Agree that it's not "the best" but it serves the story so well, better than some live action with jarring CGI on show.
Hugely underrated show! I'm doing my best to promote this where I can, but people just don't take this seriously how actually good this show is, due to YA-protagonists (and regional bullshittery of streaming service drama). My go-to AI-centric original recommendations are Pantheon and Vivy: Fluorite Eye's Song.
When most people go to New Zealand, they go for the scenery and LotR reenactments. Daniel, I mean, Ganiel Dreene, went for the second season of a sci-fi show. 😛😛😛 I loved Tim's little skit. As far as bookshelf nook aesthetics look, I like the addition of the curtain, and I have a suggestion of what to do with the empty bottom space: set up some little tables with Lego. But only if it's easy to do, and doesn't make it hard for you to get at the books and get in and out for filming. 😀
This show has an AMAZING conclusion and is actually better than 99% of the crap that gets made today. IT's absolutely brilliantly written. It will make you hate other shows because of how good it is and how much the writing on 99% of other shows pales in comparison
I saw you starting to review this so I went and watch both seasons. Pretty good, though I have a hard time appreciating an unclear ending like that. I like it more cut and dry than that in the end but hey still a good show.
I binge watched this show in 2 days a week ago cause FriendlySpaceNinja made a video about it. Luckily, I'm in Australia, so I could easily watch season 2, and it was amazing. I hope even more people watch it cause of videos like this.
someone has posted s2 here on YT, with the original songs removed (which is a shame because it had a Gorillaz song in the soundtrack), so if you want to watch it before it gets taken down that would be a little easier than pirating.
I do think the curtain IS cozy, and the new layout is nice and warm ❤ anway I'm mostly leaving this here as a way of apologizing for not watching the full thing, as you have successfully sold me on watching the show and maybe making a trip to NZ just so I can watch S2.

@@itsme_Dio I accidentally watched the final episode on UA-cam because the person made it the first episode on the playlist. It was so good I watched the entire series just to find out what tf was going on.
Both campaigns spending a Billion from rich donors is insane. Shows whos really incharge
Pantheon is incredible. I don't like to explain any part of the show to anyone and just tell people I think will enjoy it to watch it. Pretty much everything relevant to the plot is a mistery at some point in the story.
I am so glad to see more people discovering Pantheon. It is a masterpiece and an almost completely forgotten one.
i cant believe it took this long for a big channel to recognize this beautiful show
I'm so happy to see Daniel covering Pantheon!
Thank You for Shouting out this Amazing Series! It deserves way more recognition than it got due to a lack of faith from the show backers.
I cringe out of my skin whenever I see musk skipping around like a toddler. It always gets to me, man 💀
Pantheon is one of my favorite shows of all time, had a friend beg me to watch it but I put it off forever because it wasn’t on any streaming services.
Thank you so much for sharing this, we need more ppl covering Pantheon. Let's make it the success it freakin deserves.
I just watched both seasons in 1 night. It’s 3am and it hands down might be the greatest storytelling I’ve ever seen!
My favourite stylised battle of a non-physical conflict was from the second season of "legion" where animated avatars of the characters fought in the sky as samurai, then with flamethrowers, then ones a tank but the villain is smoke. That or the rap battle against the anthropomorphism of the big bad wolf .
I have never clicked on a Mr. Greene video so fast. Such a nu-classic of animated television.
Watched this a year ago before netflix and now I'm glad
Yessss!! Glad to see you enjoyed it! I’m been trying to convince other people to give this one a watch bc it blew me away!!!
I've read so many great things about this show. Even saw Friendly Space Ninja rave about it in his recent video. I guess I'll finally watch it.
Finally someone talks about this. I've been commenting and recommending this for ages now
Finally, someone watched it that has some reach.
Jaw dropping series. Have a good one y'all
I wish the series had a bigger following for how incredible every episode was. It's my new go-to recommend show.
I got to 14:45, said "alrighty", paused the video and immediately began watching the show.
Also yay for living in the land down under
So glad to see someone else talking about this show. I discovered it when it came on Netflix and liked it so much I'm working on an essay about it.
I feel your pain...The moral dillema you faced with trying to watch season 2 of this is the exact same thing I go through for everything because I'm in Iran and trust me EVERYTHING is blocked like this for me
I've come to terms with my existence.
I truly do love this show. Ending of season 2 gave me an existential crisis.
Pantheon season 2 was also released in Germany and completely dubbed in German like the first season.
YEEEESS!! Pantheon gets the recognition it deserves!!!
Viyi is GREAT
When most people go to New Zealand, they go for the scenery and LotR reenactments.
Heyyy, just finished Pantheon last week. Had to watch second season on UA-cam. What a great show!
Daniel is right. Please watch the series to the end. The ending is... Astounding
Yay! Thanks for shining more light on Pantheon!!!
Wow, didn't expect this to drop.
10 minutes into this video I was sold on Pantheon. Definitely going to watch this now.
You know a story is good and hits close to home if it's banned by corporations in your country
someone has posted s2 here on YT, with the original songs removed (which is a shame because it had a Gorillaz song in the soundtrack), so if you want to watch it before it gets taken down that would be a little easier than pirating.
I do think the curtain IS cozy, and the new layout is nice and warm ❤ anway I'm mostly leaving this here as a way of apologizing for not watching the full thing, as you have successfully sold me on watching the show and maybe making a trip to NZ just so I can watch S2.
Just finished the series yesterday it was fantastic and I love the ending.
Good review. One of my favourite shows ever :)
