"But someone will say, “You have faith and I have works.” Show me your faith apart from your works, and I will show you my faith by my works." It's about genuine faith. Is your faith real? And if it is there will be fruit. If there is no fruit, your profession is useless. Fruitless faith is dead; it cannot save. There is no other way to determine whether faith is real apart from the fruit of one's life. Paul is not exhorting them or us to make sure we check all of the boxes of our particular theological bent. It is amazing how you twist simple passages to fit your loop. It's a simple exhortation: "Examine yourselves to see if you are in the faith." Notice that this exhortation follows Paul's rebuke regarding their sin (v.2), not their doctrine.
2 Corinthians 13:1-5 is specifically speaking to the Corinthians regarding their sin. It is not Paul defending himself against the "super apostles." Paul has written two letters to the Corinthians because of the sin and lack of Christian love that he is hearing about. He tells them that he is harsh in his writing so that hopefully they will repent and he will not have to be as harsh when he sees them in person.
Sin is transgression of the law. You are basically saying you are saved by your not sinning (law keeping). That is a false hope and sinking sand. Christ alone by grace alone is the hope and assurance of gospel faith. Your own righteousness cannot save you.
@ you can’t have it both ways friend. Either you obey the law and do it perfectly, or you fail and repent and are covered by Grace. Do not fool yourself to think you are above the law and repentance is not necessary for you. Only sins you have repented for are covered by Grace. Otherwise there would be no need for a law. You can reject the logic, that doesn’t make it not true. You are deceived and follow false doctrine. Grace only opened the door to cover your mistakes, but you have to ask for forgiveness for it to work. Work is the key word. We are saved by works of repentance, Grace to remove the sin from your record and faith in Christ that it works for you. It is foolish to think you don’t have to be obedient or repent and still be covered by Grace
@@boardtodeath46 You are wasting your words. I reject will worship, false humility, and any hope that depends on the will, works, or worth of man. Your warnings are as a dog barking at a wall.
@ you can reject whatever you want. The Truth remains. Of course you are going to fight the Truth. You don’t want to hear it. And you will receive your reward. If Grace covered everyone without needing works, we would all make it home.
I think I can affirm the point being made that everything is not awesome and some Christians appear to be in a Lego Movie mindset but the verse you are trying to use does not support what you are saying and the dichotomy you present with that verse is not there. Its actually a false trichotomy (I think). All three claims could be true simultaneously in light of that verse. Paul's point can be addressing the Corinthians but also the principal can apply to all Christian while at the same time it has nothing to do with everything being awesome or easy. Wouldn't it be the case the point you are making would only be true if you cant conceive of a Christian trusting God and being patient in the midst of suffering and agony as evidence of fruit in which case that would ironically put you in the Lego Movie? Seems like it would be more productive to accurately expand what constitutes fruit.
This is also true, but when a person genuinely understands grace, they don’t want to go out and do whatever they want. It’s important to note that in the New Testament that warnings against abusing grace are only mentioned twice. Romans 6 and Jude. Warnings against legalism and misuse of the law are everywhere, including the entire book of Galatians.
We need to start looking for God’s economy at work in ourselves. God’s currency is Love, Joy, peace, patience! Trusting, hopeful, and content. The Kingdom of God is within first! Follow the fruit of the Spirit. You can’t fake the fruit of the presence of the Spirit.
Yea I can tell within minutes of someone speaking if they are legit because they will have a joy & peace that is pouring out of them, giving others joy & peace. And if they don’t I try to lift them up with joy & peace, but when they continue to suppress & fight against it that’s when you have to take a step back & guard your heart. Those who are not against us are for us. But those who are against love peace joy grace hope kindness mercy are very very difficult to keep company with.
@ True, the spiritually poor are the poor of our generation. They’re starving for love, joy and peace. Some work very hard to prosper but they can’t because their souls don’t prosper. We all need the prosperity of the narrow gate and narrow way. Our Lord’s purchased prosperity for us! Trusting, hopeful, and following!
No, but Christians of many denominations will be there. Denominations are a wonderful thing, and only uneducated people totally ignorant of church history could attack denominations. It is a slap in the face to great men of God who often risked their lives for the faith, to attack denominations. Nobody set out to create division, but many cults & heretical sects referred to themselves as "Christians," so denominational labels became a way to find other believers who had seen the same truths in scripture as one held to. So when people sit back today, from the comfort of their couch, having had all the major theological controversies wrestled with and spiritual storms prayed through by men that came before them, and make idiotic comments about how "bad" denominations are, and "I'm just a Christian, no denomination," as if somehow they could possibly have stood in those men's shoes and wrestled with those issues, and achieved some heavenly unity in the body, is the height of stupidity and misplaced arrogance.
@ajmartinez1470 Lol Orthodox...funny. Pure innovation. Sacerdotal priesthood, prayer to idols, works salvation...total abandonment of New Testament faith
@@Michael_Chandler_Keaton My friend. In all love, The New Testament you trust that was written by the fathers of the Orthodox Church. If you trust the Holy Spirit to guide the church father's in faithfully scribing our gospels and epistles why can't you trust that The Holy Spirit has preserved the faith handed down from Our Lord Jesus to the Apostles throughout history? God bless you man ☦️🙏🏽
@ajmartinez1470 No, the Apostles didn't belong to 'The Orthodox Church.' The early church recognized the authority of scripture, and justification by faith. Orthodox theologians just do selective church history, and disregard all those figures that disagreed with them. The Holy Spirit HAS preserved the faith. Just not in the Orthodox church, that doesn't recognize the new birth, and what it means to be justified by faith alone through God's grace.
Such a good reminder to find our fullness in Christ. Thank you
A beautiful reminder of who we are in Christ!! An even better reminder of who God is!!
God is light. In Him there is no darkness.
Taking every thought captive will keep us out of a lot of trouble.

The most important aspect in life is to repent . Only through repentance can we gain salvation. Grace does not cover unrepentant sins

Grace can be used as a license to sin and excuse to compromise and this also needs to be addressed.

You don't need a license to sin 😂. You sin just fine all by yourself lol.
Jesus came for a reason.
AMEN brother, that's all I can say. Reading the Bible in context and rightly divided. Follow Paul peeps, he was sent by Jesus Himself.
Yes, "THE faith" i.e. the body of truth.
Good!
Great analogy. Calvinism has much in common with the truman show and lego movie.
3:54 sounds very reformed. He is the one who will keep me. Amen!

Are these guys Calvinists? They say they are reformed.
If you are Reformed ,you are a Calvinist. You believe in unconditional election, particular atonement etc.

The only christian body that has held to the same teachings of our Lord Jesus Christ is the Eastern Orthodox Church ☦️
