recently I have been renting a vehicle from Lyft through a company they're not going to use anymore and a local company of hurtz doesn't have hybrids
... I'm so sad
this Toyota Prius has been a genius way to do rideshare ....
The local Hertz say they don't have any hybrids 😭 and the weekly fee is going to be about $25 more .....

Niiiice! My car died n renting 2017 SUV but read Uber n Lyft info says you can't drive either in a rental (taxi laws of some kind) - car must be registered to the driver - not rental car. Can you enlighten my how your doing rideshare with a rental please n ty? 😎✌

Hi Ezra, does Maven's insurance card carry your name that's why you're able to drive for multiple platforms simultaneously?! How does is it work?
Yeah, it does have my name on it... I'm not sure if this is the case for other Maven rentals like the ones they do exclusively for Uber and Lyft. But for Maven Gig, which I use, it does have my name on the card.
Rideshare Genius Great! Yeah, dunno about Uber, but for Lyft EDP, it does NOT state the driver's name --- Maven's only, which is a bummer if you wanna drive for multiple platforms like yours! I'll definitely check it out once Maven Gig hits the LA market 😉👍
How much is that rental after tax and how many days/hours would you have to drive Uber/Lyft just to cover the rental per week? Does it include insurance? You said the Bolts aren't out in another video I looked on the GM Maven website and I saw a few bolts available on the map in LA are the ones available on the map the ones you rent longer term or dif cars?

Is it really that practical to use this for Uber ? What if you have to run the AC ? Socal gets pretty hot during summer. Are those evGo stations always available ? I can imagine those stations would all be occupied by other drivers during the day. Some drivers may leave it plugged in even after their cars are fully charged.
Great questions, Peter. It really depends on the individual driver's situation. If you want to drive a lot of miles and work a lot, the rental is a good deal in that unlimited mileage and charging are included. It was easy to charge at evGo in 2017, but now Maven Gig is putting so many of these Bolts the road that it is certainly causing long waits to charge, especially close to the city, where there are even fewer evGo stations, for some reason. With the Bolt, the charging cable doesn't lock, so if someone leaves a car plugged in, you can unplug it. Some other EVs do lock the cable in

I heard that in some vehicles, the car alarm will go off if someone other than the owner tries to unplug it. Also, would unplugging the other charged vehicle really helped ? Because that vehicle is still occupying that charging space . I am just trying to work this out in my head before I commit into renting this from Maven Gig. I also understand a new vehicle inspection is needed each time a person switches a vehicle. Which equals to wasted time = wasted money .
Besides, imagine what a Tesla owner would say to a Maven Gig Chevy Bolt renter when he/she finds out on their apps that their vehicle was unplugged.
I really don't know which vehicles have locking charging ports. It might even vary from one model year to the next on a certain vehicle. But I'm sure all of this info is available online.
I wouldn't worry about people unplugging your Bolt. It happened to me only once and it was an asshole Lyft driver and I caught him doing it.
The inspection is definitely an unnecessary pain in the ass. Just plan ahead so you can quickly get the free inspections from Uber and Lyft the same day you pick up the car.

Because I was stuck in the car with them! Haha! They weren't vomit-inducing gross... Just "I wish I hadn't eaten those" gross 😀
How often do you need to charge and how long does it take?
The max range on a full battery is about 250 miles. It depends on what kind of charger you have access to. A supercharger (level 3) could charge it to about 70% full in an hour I think. A level 2 charger (often at grocery stores/malls for free) would probably take 8-10 hours to get a full charge. A level 1 charger (home outlet I think) would probably take all day! I have unlimited supercharger access with my rental
Who do you rent with? I may have missed something but don't you get restricted to one company depending on who you do the rental program through?
I am renting through Maven Gig, which is a new product from GM. It's available in San Diego and San Francisco and will be coming to LA later this year. You can drive with multiple apps, but the service has some problems so I'm not ready to recommend it to others just yet. But I do love the Bolt!

Thanks! It's $229/week and includes unlimited mileage, unlimited charging (no fuel expense at all!), insurance and maintenance. And I can drive it for any service! Yes, it's expensive, but I think worth it if you drive a lot
Maven is too expensive in Chicago. I'm thinking about trying Lyft to see if that vehicle available. Enterprise don't have nothing like that and getting too expensive.
Can you please tell me if you can use a lyft rental for uber as well?
Usually if you rent directly through a Lyft program, you would not be able to use that car with other services. But you can always ask
