You were correct. It is is heavier, but only because it has every protection upgrade bolted on when you bought it. The 950 is four pounds heavier than the T7 and has 25-30% more HP depending on the year of the 950.
@trailrunnermike None. We pulled the carburetors and cleaned the jets, but they were ok. The carbs had been drained. Also, pretty sure they had used ethanol free fuel, as the 10 year old fuel still smelled ok. However, the foam air filter element had broken down and was replaced. The oil looked new, so we just ran it. So, really, we could have just freshened the fuel, replace the filter and start riding. Just run it...
The side stand is a relocate kit because the stock mounting is on the engine case which can be cracked it you’re not careful. The centre stand is stock.
if you're looking to get rid of that fibreglass windshield, i'd be more than happy taking it. been on the lookout for one in that shape for a while now
@@CrustyCycle9317 just a bit of a different shape with the lip on it. it's said to help a bit with wind buffeting. but I mainly like the look of it and because of the lip my nav setup could/would fit a bit better
@@CrustyCycle9317 Quite a find...can make a decent little bike. (there was a BSA version too and all were made in the BAS factory, but I think they all got rebadged as Triumph for the US after BSA went bust). The last attempt by the British to counter the Japanese in that sector (an important one in the UK market because back then a 250 was as big as you could go without taking a test). Good luck with it!
@@CrustyCycle9317 Just keep an eye on the coolant levels, and the oil pressure light. If the coolant levels fluctuate and the OP light flickers the water pump seals have gone. It's relatively easy to do the change; the Orange Crush HoW has all the info you need.
Thanks for reaching out. My buddy ended up buying it from me that day. It turned out to be a great runner with 36k miles. The fork seals developed a pretty good leak though.
Yeah, a screamin deal. But I had to buy it and that 750 Honda as non-running motorcycles, sitting for 10 years. They both ended up running good, and I sold the Honda for 1250. The 950 has 36k miles.

We've put a couple thousand miles on this bike now. It's excellent.
@ I just bought a 2006 950 Adv a few weeks ago. Any recommendation on where to start? It was not ridden much in the last fours years.
You can adjust the steering stops to stop the handle bars from hitting the windshield
Thanks.Yes, we got that figured out. It took a minute, though. We ended up putting on that solid fiberglass windshield.
Nice! I’m betting you’re probably right about those carburetors, they are gonna need a little love after sitting for 10 years.
We'll find out soon enough!
@@CrustyCycle9317 How much love did the engine need?

Got it, thanks. Glad we got that after market side stand. That's gotta be a good thing.

Maybe, What is the significance of the fiberglass shield?

@TarikScoots My buddy bought the bike. I'll see if he wants to let it go.
Triumph Trailblazer in the background?
Yes, that's right. I bought that at a vintage swap meet in Tenino, WA. It's original and complete, but I've never even tried to start it. Someday...

30k is low miles on a 950. I have a 2010 990, they're great bikes.
Thanks for the reassurance. It seems to be doing fine so far. It's a super fun bike to ride and very capable.
Center stand is stock
Yeah, we've since figured that one out...
Clean the carbs, change the waterpump
It's been running good so far, didn't change the water pump though.

@richardsimpson3792 thanks, I'll put that information in my toolbox 🧰
Good looking bike but it seems they all have 30k on them
I bet you're right about that on the miles.
30k is nothing on this engine i put 65k abuse on mine it has not missed a beat dam near bulletproof
@holeshot1721 That's reassuring. It ended up having 36k on it and has been running like a champ, no issues.
Just bought a 2007 990 adventure with 5,600km for $6k Canadian
Nice, I think you did really well on that one.
Can I please buy it from you with the boxes ☺️☺️☺️
