Fist of the North Star is based on a beloved & ultra-violent Anime/Manga Franchise that also takes inspiration from Mad Max and Bruce Lee and in some weird way became influential to other franchises in the future such as Double Dragon and even Jojo's Bizarre Adventure. When Kenshiro does that wild scream of his, it's an homage to Bruce Lee that was even used in nearly every rendition of the games moving forward.

3 would have benefitted greatly from a remake.
4 is one of the greatest JRPGs ever made and doesn't need the help; the pacing, the characters, the music are all incredible.
Chrono Trigger is the only better paced RPG than Phantasy Star 4, with the latter getting a nostalgia boost because I was much younger when I played it.

    • @avideogamemaster

They were planning on skipping PS3, and remaking PS4. The 3 games were supposed to be a collection release as Phantasy Star Trilogy.
Phantasy Star 3 needs a remake the most, but it needs a lot more work than they were willing to put into it here, so I’m glad they skipped it.

Fist of the North Star is based on awesome "Mad max combined with Enter the Dragon" Post-Apocalypse Earth Anime series from the mid 80's that's based on a Manga.
Kenshiro is not shouting "apapapapa" you goof ball, his Ki-Ai yell is "AH TA TA TA TA TA TA TA ATTAACK!!!" "Black Belt" was Sega massively altered version of the Master System Fist of the North Star game....

    Regarding Dragon Force...
I don't speak japanese, but I had played the Saturn version to death, so I was able to play the PS2 version intuitively.
I do credit my friend for playing the Saturn version at my house and giving me an incentive to learn its mechanics though, because it had been on the backlog for years when we played it in 2005, and I sure as hell wasn't about the just read the instructions like some kind of chump.
The PS2 version does have rearranged music and a bunch of added content.
It's also a very addictive game once you get the hang of it, so I hope you'll give it another shot some day, hopefully when translated on the PS2.

Virtua Fighter 2 is way better on the Sega Saturn. The games that shine in the Sega Ages 2500 volumes are Puyo Puyo 2 and OutRun.

Hey Joe, while Phantasy Star 2 is Grindy, the reason you had to grind your levels so high is because you are only using 2 characters. Rudger is available as soon as you reach the second town, and you are intended to get him before the first dungeon.

Every time you reach a new town you have to return to Eusis house is Paseo and the new member will be waiting. It works the same as the original game.

I always have wanted to get into the Phantasy Star series after the 16 bit gen was over, but even though I grew up on NES I couldn't even get past the music in the first town in the Master System version. Once I found out about Generation 1 (not too many years ago), I played it just to get a taste of how it felt and ended up drawn into the game for over 5 hours. BTW, my PS2 isn't modded so I played the patched version on ePSXe and I didn't see no glitches

You have a bad transition version of Phantasy star. The OG CD Romance patch doesn’t corrupt the sprites and has better naming
