I personally think this is an issue of parasocial relationships because people grow up watching these guys for years, maybe even also watching them from humble beginnings so for some reason they feel like the content creators owe the fans to never do a cash grab or be the most trransparent, humble and perfect person ever.Peoples expectations for a youtuber who they think should be the same ultra humble, underdog, mr I do this for the fans they were in the beginning, but they dont uphold the same standards for artists, celebrities, companies, etc.
I think it's fine to point out flaws and criticize the products and how these creators can improve the product, but the main issue is that is it a character assasination to create a product that isnt up to the standard the fans expected (in mkbhd's situation) or making a product that is advertised as healthy compared to a competitor but is only slightly healthier (in Lunchly's situation)?
to answer omar's question about the difference between content creator's and rappers when they create products. I think that the parasocial relationship we have with content creators is closer with creators and even though yall dont know us but your fans see the version of yourselves that you choose to show to the world most if the time its positive and entertaining. And since we're fans, we want to root for your success because most content creator's rise to success is more genuine than rappers that talk about what they do in their music. sure the music is good but i know that most rappers wanna rob and scam anyway they can.
"Trust in the community" stop it... yall are just being entertained... stop making it bigger than what it is... Dudes been selling ads to you, having a shop of products under their videos... and now an app that you want to cry about? c'mon son...
Why do you trust them??? Because they are funny? If you trust people you’ve never met in person, lunchables aren’t you’re biggest problem. Parasocial people don’t get a pass for being stupid.
the original point of why people watched youtubers was as an alternative to the corporate style that had been the standard up until that point. Good creators establish a trust with the people that watch them, and when they dip into avenues that are strictly for profit that isn't marketed towards their audience, that erodes that trust. At the very least, the product has to be in line with their brand, which is why I personally didn't have much of an issue with KSI and logan paul doing Prime, since being athletes and such is part of their brand, which a gatorade style drink is congruent with. And to anyone who says "oh you dont have to buy it", that's clearly not the point of the issue. The people who watch a creator don't want their image of who that person is and what they value to be tainted, they want someone who is passionate and cares about what they're putting out into the world, not someone who is trying to make a quick buck.
Definitely get your bag, think the problem is Logan is known to scam/create products that aren’t what they talk them up to be. Mr beast issue (food related) is last time he made a product to be healthier he changed the formula and backtracked to taste better. Personally just don’t buy the crap but I get why people are upset since it’s Marketed to kids who just cry until they get what they want at the store once they see it hahaha
L take? U an L human lol. Content creators BEEN giving you free content for yrs and you complain when they try to branch out and make money through legit means and actual product. The privilege some ppl have is sickening fr
deadass the only difference is content creators feel more like friends to these mfs because they are able to interact with them THAT IT which is BS let these mfs get they money support em or don't and move on stop crying
"Content creator being the most disrespected occupation" shows you never had a JOB job
