Frankie Knuckles was born in the Bronx, New York City on January 18, 1955. He began his career in the 1970s as a DJ in Chicago, where he became a pioneer of the house music scene. Knuckles was instrumental in popularizing the genre, and his use of soul, funk, and disco music in his DJ sets laid the foundation for the sound of house music.
Throughout his career, Knuckles released several albums and singles, including "Your Love" and "The Whistle Song." He also remixed songs for artists such as Michael Jackson, Diana Ross, and Depeche Mode. In addition to his work as a DJ and producer, Knuckles also owned and operated a nightclub in Chicago called The Power Plant. In addition to his contributions to the music industry, Knuckles was also a philanthropist and advocate for the LGBTQ+ community. He received numerous accolades for his work, including a Pioneer DJ Award from the International Dance Music Awards and a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award.
