Erikson is the proper spelling, named after my Great great Grandfather. There is a great story of him (scary) he is the woodchopper you can still hear him chopping at times. He is buried up there but not in a cemetery just under a tree.
What??!!! I've been using a USFS Rocky Mountain Region campground list. It includes forests & grasslands in KS, CO, WY, & SD. The Manti-La Sal Natl Forest is in a different region. I totally forgot that it crosses over into western Colorado. Just added Buckeye & Pioneer to our list for a future trip. Thanks for the suggestion!!!
Paonia is nice and they have a beautiful winery on top of a hill called Azura. The building is very "Tuscan". There is a small gallery at the winery too. Check it out next time you are here. Question, I've been looking for a Colorado trail map by number and I can't find one. All these trails have numbers but I would love to see an index with the trail number, location and info (length, etc...). Thank you
Thanks for the tip on Paonia! I assume you've checked out the COTREX app. I'll keep my eyes open for a master list of trails. Each of the national forest websites have a list like this: www.fs.usda.gov/activity/whiteriver/recreation/hiking/?recid=40405&actid=50
I wish they would spell Erikson's Springs how it's supposed to be spelled.... My family homesteaded this land and they refuse to change it to the proper spelling ERIKSON'S SPRINGS
@@erinrogers1383Keep asking and hopefully, they will make the change someday. That has to be frustrating. I have contacts in some of the national forests but not in the Gunnison NF. If I ever meet somebody, I'll mention it.
Love your channel! I'm in Colorado springs and always searching for a new camp spot so I come visit your channel. I'm visiting Stagecoach state park home of the state record northern Pike Wednesday and wondering if you covered that park yet?
I love you guys. Thanks for all you do.
Happy to help out
I live 20 minutes from there
Lucky!!
Like that area
It's a nice area.

I love learning the old history of the places we visit. Any idea why the forest service didn't spell it correctly?
@@CampgroundRecon i think they just assumed it was spelt the way they spelled it.
He was my husband's great grandfather too. I have heard the woodchopper story...
Love it. Can you do Buckeye campground?

Campground Recon awesome I look forward to more videos!

This is such a great idea showing campgrounds! Colorado is so beautiful! God Bless you guys!
Thanks for checking it out! It's been a fun project. Tonight's video of Lost Lake was our 197th Colorado campground video.

Wonder why they didn’t spell it correctly to begin with.
It's a simple mistake but when the family offers to pay for a new sign with proper spelling and they say no it's kind of frustrating
My Great Great Great Grandfather is buried up there where Erikson's Springs Ranch is 😊

I’m looking for a spot to camp for free with trout fishing. Any suggestions?
We have a playlist of free campgrounds. Rio Grande Campground is one that comes to mind.
Campground Recon thank you so much. We are headed to Colorado early Tuesday morning from Arkansas. First trip ever to Colorado. Very excited. 😃
Drink plenty of water and you shouldn’t have to worry about the change in elevation
another nice area and campground

We haven't covered many of Colorado's state parks yet. We'll hopefully visit a couple after the USFS campgrounds close for the season.
Great video. See any elk hunters at the campground?
Not when we were there. I bet it’s a popular spot for them during hunting season.
My favorite campground. Please don’t share my secrets!
I won't tell too many people
