- LSU head football coach Brian Kelly met with the media Tuesday afternoon where he recapped his Tigers season opening defeat to USC, Nicholls State up next and more.

I'm pissed about Sunday night but we have to remember what Kelly took over. Hes had back to back 10 win seasons after the dumper fire he inherited. It's gonna be 2025 or 2026 before we can win a NC. Remember Kirby smart took 6 years to win it

I can't figure out why in the hell LSU fans think that Kelly is gonna lead them to a national championship. He coached uninspired, shit football at ND. The fans didn't respect him, neither did the players. He constantly threw them under the bus. The coaching was insanely awful on Sunday, and he says Nuss got "outplayed" when it was literally his coaching staff's fault. Stop defending this dude. It's insane.

It would be fine if his play calling wasn't predictable, and he doesn't throw everyone under the bus after every loss, but that's his brand.

It’s so funny I grew up watching LSU sinc 1980’s and they have never been USC , Alabama saban and Bryant years, Bobby Bowden years at FS we have been a lot of downs and little ups . And yet BK's old team, Notre Dame, has no fear of opening the season against a MORE THAN "decent" team -- AT THE OPPONENT'S HOME FIELD (i.e., not at a neutral site). The Fighting Irish went into College Station as an underdog [despite being more highly ranked], played a SOLID game at Kyle Field -- a VERY tough place to play for visiting teams -- against a high quality, highly disciplined Texas A&M team, and emerged victorious. So much for BK whining about how Notre Dame's academic demands on its student athletes and ND's supposed inability to recruit the talent level and depth of the players at SEC schools [i.e., "football mills"] allegedly "held him back" from realizing his "destiny" of winning a national championship !!!

@@mykecheckk Thanks for your opinion @mykecheckjk -- and you're certainly entitled to it. Just as I'm entitled to think it's silly and a bad look for LSU fans to whine. The schedule is the schedule. Of course it makes sense that ANY/EVERY "power" team should/would want to start the season off with a creampuff opponent to "ease into a season" and "work out the kinks" so that they have a better chance to secure an "undefeated season" and get into the playoffs. BUT THAT'S NOT POSSIBLE FOR "EVERY" TEAM to schedule -- why should LSU "only" get such a benefit? (And if it's "that" big a deal, WHY does the LSU AD schedule "tough" opposition at the start of the season -- apart from the publicity and extra $$$ it brings to the school/conference to be featured in a "kickoff classic" game?)
Moreover, going "undefeated" or finishing with only 1 or at most 2 losses is no longer "that" imperative or pressing of a "need" now that the CFB playoffs have FINALLY and quite PROPERLY EXPANDED. 12 teams is WAY better than "just" 4 teams, but it still represents LESS than 1/10 of the teams playing major college football (which is in essence a de facto "farm system" for the NFL although the NFL pays nothing for the reward they reap). Given all the quality college teams in a "Division I league" whose participating schools exceeded well over 120 in number, it was always ridiculous and unjust to limit the college football playoff to "just" 4 teams ... a grouping that some faceless, biased, conference-controlled committee voted on behind closed doors. IMO, the playoffs will become better still when they expand the playoff field to 16 teams at a minimum and ELIMINATE "bye" games. IMO, the "top" voted/ranked teams don;t need and shouldn't receive "byes." Getting to play AT HOME to start the playoffs and AGAINST THE LOWEST SEEDED TEAMS is and ought to be sufficient "reward" for being the top ranked team(s). In any event, "IF" LSU is going to be "that" good of a team deserving of the playoffs, they'll get there -- a singular loss at the start of the season to a NON-CONFERENCE team is essentially meaningless, UNLESS they suffer more and more losses throughout the season. But even IF LSU suffers MULTIPLE losses throughout the season to non-conference opponents, the way the playoff system is set up, LSU can STILL run the table on all SEC games, win the SEC Championship, and secure an AUTOMATIC bid for the playoffs !!!
Notre Dame, by comparison, does NOT have that luxury as a football independent without access to a Power 5 conference championship game (and its automatic bid into the playoffs). I don't think ND is complaining about the inability to ever receive either an automatic playoff bid or a playoff bye [even if they are unbeaten and have the #1 ranking] -- they apparently embrace the tougher road as a condition of remaining independent and free to play teams throughout the entire country. They simply have a different paradigm ... But they also have less margin for error -- in all likelihood (unless ALL top teams have 3 losses in a season), ND isn't going to make the playoffs unless they either go undefeated or else have at most 1, maybe 2 losses (again, depending on how the seasons of other teams unfold and how "bad"/to whom ND losses occur).
My main point in the initial posting was that it's pretty ironic that BK always whined about how tough it is to compete for a National Championship at ND because of the serious academic requirements that all student-athletes are EXPECTED to navigate and are held to, and the fact that those requiements prevented him from being able to recruit enough "blue chip, SEC style, 4 & 5 star athletes" necessary to secure a "natty" -- because there weren't enough players to build sufficient depth on a team who were the combination of ELITE athletes, TOP-NOTCH academically, AND WILLING to take the "harder" path of actually going to class, doing the course work, and toiling in out-of-the-way Northern Indiana in crappy and/or cold weather 4 or so months out of the year (i.e., quite understandably, most young men who have their "pick of the litter" of schools because they are top athletes WILL WANT to take the "easier" path where going to class and doing the "academic" work is either optional or a fraudulent joke, where having "fun" and "partying" outside of football games and practice is the way of life, where the weather is nice year-round, where there is either night life or at least plenty of frat parties or other things to do, and where pretty girls are plentiful). This is NOT a knock on the natural inclinations of "most" young men; but the realityis that it DOES take a special person to DELIBERATELY EMBRACE the tougher road when they could have all the collateral "goodies" offered elsewhere. Anyway, the irony was that with or without Kelly, ND continues to embrace the "harder path" -- including opening this season AT the SEC's member school Texas A&M ... and they nonetheless emerged victorious. Meanwhile, LSU has had consecutive season-opening losses to ACC and former Pac-12 schools ... and let's be honest, for 30+ years, the only thing college football fans have repeatedly had shoved down their throats coming out of the SEC and ESPN-ABC is how, supposedly, the SEC is the "best" conference hands-down; how the SEC is the be-all, end-all; how the SEC "deserves" the National Championship to be played between two SEC schools; how comparatively "inferior" other conferences such as the Pac 12 and ACC are; and so on ...
Additionally, apart from the ND angle, now that the new LSU concern is apparently to have some cupcake to steamroll on opening day of the season, I find it curious that an LSU fan would now essentially say that Florida State (ACC) and USC (former Pac-12 member which lost its Conference Championship to Utah, and is YET to play a Big 10 game in its new conference) are evidently "too big a challenge" for a would-be "top" contender within the supposed "best conference" to have to face on opening day at a NEUTRAL site. IF LSU is supposedly a top team in the "best" conference, why does it matter if they opened the season with FSU or USC -- isn't it still the "first game" for those two schools from supposedly "inferior" conferences as well ... and don't they also need to "work out their kinks" too ???

Moreover, I seem to recall LSU having won the National Championship not all that long ago with former USC head coach Ed Orgeron at the helm and Joe Burrow as your starting QB ... so it's NOT as if LSU fans are especially "suffering" or the least bit "deprived." LSU also won two other national championships IN THIS 21st CENTURY with Nick Saban and Les Miles (and a previous one in the late 1950s) !! Fans of many other teams -- many of whom have NEVER had the privilege of enjoying their team win a National Championship (let alone 3 within 20 years) and who no doubt are equally "just [as] tired of seeing [that] same outcome -- do NOT squeal, whine, or complain like stuck pigs. Only fans who feel "entitled" carry on that way -- be thankful for what you've had in these recent decades ... and thankful that ONE loss to a non-conference team is MEANINGLESS for where LSU wants to go.

I’m very disappointed like many Tiger Fans. It’s hard to get a second look as the season progresses from those who make the determinations of which teams get to the playoffs after a loss like this. As he said, “Our path is razor thin now.” I want to see the guys just play the damn game. Stop this stupid stuff which kills promising drives. His team sure looked like they spent a lot of time on their pre-game dance choreography and that may have gassed them in the 4th quarter! Just a coach cashing checks at this point! Honestly had high hopes for BK but I was wrong. He is an average coach who can't build a team of players. Too many SHOW OFF athletes and not team players. Regarding rushing plays and execution. USC was crashing their outside LB's and Safeties in on the inside rushes and tackling the LSU RB's before they got started. They even admitted postgame they were "selling - out" to stop the inside run realizing that Nuss was NEVER going to fake it and run it himself. The perimeter was open all game & we didn't attack it properly. THAT is "Scheme" and coaching adjustments. We didn't make adjustments period & Nuss is going to have to fake and run it sometimes then get down quickly just to keep that a threat.
LSU is a decent team maybe the 6th best team in the SEC. Georgia, Alabama, Texas, Ole Miss, Tennessee, LSU. They're not a playoff team LSU. Maybe they can get in the Sun Bowl 🌞 and go 9-4 and call it good👍

at the very beginning of the game; Trojans first drive, a safety got into with a wideout… after it was over he lifted his hand like a pistol and shot at him. ( LSU defense shot at at USC wideout ) right in front of the ref. I havent seen anything like that in a while and I watch almost every college football game. my first thought.. “Kirby Smart would kick this idiot off the team.” I couldn’t believe it. You must of been watching the FSU game. Because defense gave the offense multiple chances to put USC away. However the offensive play call was so conservative it hurt the offense
@@CajunYT Agreed, I think adding easy to predict runs on first down hurt the offense's confidence and increased USC's defensive confidence. Bad play calling for sure. If LSU ran just enough to keep USC honest but in a non-predictable way then LSU could get a few breakaway runs.

LSU was unprepared - too many penalties, especially the personal fouls, leading to two touchdowns. The offensive line gets inside the 15 three times, and no TDs. It's like the offensive line was waiting to be rescued, with Daniels' play in the back of their minds from last year, or has NIL made them all soft? Campbell said before the game, "It's gonna be a fist fight". But that reminds one of Mike Tyson's saying, "Everyone's got a plan, until they get punched in the mouth"!

Saban put water on it, nurtured it, pruned it and let it blossom into a program that got him a championship and the following two coaches one too. Those coaches didn’t try to break what wasn’t broken.
