"For this conversion, I used the alpharius miniature from forge world... as inspiration" Dude I was so scared you actually cut up alpharius when you paused there.
@@PeteTheWargamer I will say, the idea of a Chaos Warband where the entire army is the Alpharius Miniature with different wargear options would be hilarious. Takes "I am Alpharius!" to another level.
Heresy Gulliman: disband the Legions 40K Gulliman: bring back the legions Heresy Gulliman: what are you doing you idiot 40K Gulliman: No longer sniffling plastic glue.
Great job! I'm not bothered by "Primaris Chaos" not fitting the lore - I see this as a True-scale Alpha Legionnaire rather than a "Primaris" anything. Would love to see him painted up.
CONCERNING THE SCALES: For those who can't find a CD case with that pattern or can't get their hands on one of those TubeTools, use a bolt with 6mm diameter and cut off it's head. I find it easier to roll the GrenStuff (or putty) flat and let it dry for 1h or so before I wet it and the bold and roll it hard against the putty so I can make the pattern. Anyways good video and awesome tips!
Man, this was the first video of yours and I only clicked on it because I saw the title and thought "There are no Alpha Legion primaris, is this guy stupid?" And then I actually watched the video, realized it was awesome, and now have actually built and painted models based on your videos. I love this channel, and am glad I saw this to discover it. Keep being awesome, Pete!
Why would anyone give free content like this a thumbs down? Excellent vid and I'm planning to build an entire list of Alpha Legion in Primaris form - perfect timing for your vid and thanks for the inspiration!
Hey, call DID make traitor p marines, just look at the Sons of the Phoenix. I seriously have no idea how Cawl could pull that one. It says they have Imperial Fist stalk, but that chapter screams Emperors Children.
Another fantastic video! I would greatly appreciate your take on a Deathwing bone armour video please. These videos are my go to tutorials and have been a huge help. Thanks for sharing.
So much to do, so little time! I will get back to doing some AoS and other videos soon but at the moment I'm really enjoying making these conversion videos.
It could be an interesting idea for a legion to create a primaris version of one of the traitor legions with pre heresy colours (in this instance, the Alpha legion) that Cawl create in secret and have them loyal to the Mechanicus, rather than the emperor. The imperium already rely on them to supply all of their weapons and equipment but if they had their own legions of privatised primaris space marines that would make the power the mechanicus holds absolutely terrifying
I once heard that a safe way to bend plastic is by dipping the piece in hot water and then bending and letting it dry. Maybe this is a good idea to prevent the head part from accidentally snapping.
Dear Pete, how could one create balls from the heresy era armor on the primaris leg and shoulders? Do you know any tricks on how to do this? ( A tutorial like this would be much appreaciated
Great video!!!! Going to consider geting some of those chains to wrap around my Carchardon's weapons... World water stly Please do a Carchardons primaris conversion!
Quick question, would I be able to convert forge worlds alpharius into a chaos warlord am use him as exactly that on the table top? Any feedback from anyone would be great, thanks. 😁 Edit: or could I use him as a warlord with abbaddons rules maybe?
@@Alino- thank you for your reply, really appreciate it. You've given me tons of info, I've just got my first batch of chaos marines and choas lord to start off my alpha legion and this comment has made me more excited to start. The alpharius model is one of my favourites and knowing now what you've told me I'm happy to continue with this army now so thank you for that info again. BTW is there anywhere online or otherwise where I could buy the blade of the hydra maybe for a conversion or is it just something you state when playing.. Thank you Edit : I have read about the relic haha, I'm still very new to the technical side of W40k.
Hey there I’m following your tutorial with some Primaries infiltrators any suggestions for having their armor change by the Warp like the Chaos space Marines kit
If there would be some Primaris Marines would be from the given Primarch, and the same name, I would go and give each of these chapters the original legion name and hearldry. Like for the Death Guard, I would give them the original name. The Dusk Raiders.
I am planning on painting a primaris alpha legion. I'm doing this cause I love both but I do want to be able to play it. Should I do a successor chapter rule set or play with raven gaurd rules?
Weren't the Alpha legionnaires actually a bit beefier than all the other legions? My understanding from the HH books was that the rank and file Alpha Legion were on the larger end , and the Primarch(s) on the smaller scale, this is how the two mingled and swapped identities so readily with the rank and file Alpha legionaries . That being said, that'd be a good excuse to use Primaris as your Alpha legion base
while I agree that only a butcher would use clippers to cut off the blade, if, instead of the knife, you use an actual saw, the results would be even better! :-) tamiya has excellent, very thin saws that fit into your xacto knife
Plague marines next ? that sound good ;) Could you show for Word bearers too, after ? thank you for your video, it help me a lot for my Death guard army and my painting skills in general :)
Death Guard (not plague marines) are next. I'll be tackling an untainted version of the chapter. But check out the poll on my community page, the Word Bearers have been included as a voting option!
I tried doing the scale method with GS, but it just ended up sticking to the tube tool - so much so that I'm going to have to soak them in Dettol to get it all out What have I done wrong? Should I have left the putty out for longer after mixing? How long did you leave yours?
I left my putty for an hour then rolled it into the form with water on both the form and the roller... used a deodorant can as the roller. Then left it for another hour before applying to the armour. My layer was about half as thin again than his and was also cut to the lines of the breast plates of the armour underneath as well as being symmetrical to the model instead of just slapped on at any old angle.
Well the Alpha Legion did run off with the genetic data stolen from the Raven Guard in 'Deliverance Lost,' so to think in 10,000 years that some of them have done nothing with it is just stupid. Whilst I don't think they'd have Primaris per say, some genetic modifications could have been done on the larger legion members (similar to how the pre-mutated Raptors turned out) as it's stated that at least half of the Legion under went extensive surgery to resemble Alpharius in both look and size. Both Captains Ingo Pech and Kel Silonius were described in Praetorian of Dorn as being in the blurred zone for Primarch height. And we now how the legion likes to steal blue prints to other stuff Like the MK6 armour (before it was even mass produced to most other legions) and the Phoenix Spear and to adapt and make it their own So at the very least some of the larger Alpha Legion members could have gotten hold of the Primaris armour and mofified it to fit themselves.
Thanks, and I appreciate the comment. You don't like the idea of the conversion and that's fine, not everyone has to. But you are still able to appreciate the technique and let me know as such. I just wish more people left comments like yours!
Forge world parts are a bit more pricey than buying individual components from bits sellers, and that's if they don't get discontinued. Plus when it comes to Primaris the only 30k parts that are in scale are heads and shoulder pads. The video is just offered as an alternative to them
A few things really. First of all, make sure your file is fine and designed for model making. I've often see people use files designed for metal work and they seem to be a lot coarser. Also, I like to run the edge of my blade at a slight angle to the surface a kind of shave away the plastic. That will help to smooth things out a little more.

Yeah, but then you have horrible primaris aesthetics.

These lore wise could also be Fabius Vile's creations, the chaos space marines codex says he's taken interest in making an equivalent troop
Thats a nice Alpha Primaris you have there... or is it?
