I really wanted the next film to be about David. It was such a wonderful dark twist of a cliffhanger. Imagine all the possibilities with people waking up in a ship run by a crazed robot running alien experiments on people.
It would have been a great twist if it wasn't telegraphed earlier with the fight between the two synthetics. Then the evil expressions on David's face while watching the surviving crew hunt the xenomorph on the camera. It ruined the film for me

Well it's not hard to imagine. David will do to colonists what he did to Shaw which is to use them to incubate more aliens. Some colonists will wake up to the nightmare and mount a rebellion against David and fight back like in alien 2 and 4. The story will likely conclude in a stalemate with the few remaining survivors making a desperate last effort to crash the ship on an unmarked planet to ensure all aliens die. Then they'll add a cliffhanger where David lifts a finger in the rubble hinting he may be alive. The planet may even be LV 426 or LV 223 to bring the story full circle. That would be an epic conclusion to the greatest sci-fi horror series ever.
I like to believe that David didn't create the xenonorph and merely re discoverd the engineers' creation . The fact that there is a mural to the alien queen in prometheus pretty much proves this .
It was the Deacon like the other guy said, but we don't know that David created those eggs either, it could have been an engineer experiment that David was continuing.
The Xenomorph in Covenant was sinewy and lacked the biomechanical features. It's theorized the final Xenonorph gains the biomechanics after merging with David somehow which I would like to see

In my mind, I always liked to believe that David eventually landed on Origae-6 and continued his experiments. His God complex eventually bringing him to the realisation that only by infusing himself into the experiment can he truly create the "perfect organism". It would be this final fusion that would give the Alien it's mechanical aspects and David himself would become the first ever Alien, an Alien King of sorts. In order to do it he'd require more black goo, so he'd travel back to LV-223 to get some. He'd then intend to return to earth as it's new God, planning on turning all of humanity into Alien creatures. He would take another of the Engineers ships, using the remaining humans from the Covenant to create a ship full of eggs. What he hadn't bargained on though, was the final version of the creature, in it's face hugger form, wouldn't recognise him as kin but merely an abomination and would attack him. Desperate to get to earth before the inevitable, he would fall short, a creature bursting from his chest as he piloted the ship, causing it to crash on LV-426...
This is what I imagined happened. Though people would refute that by the line Alien where Dallas says the pilot looks 2000yrs old. Though we don’t know what and how the ship’s internal atmosphere affects decomposition. I wonder has there been any Alien novels where an Androids have infused Xeno blood in with their synthetic blood?
I always believed David was the original Space Jockey we saw in that chair in Alien , like stated above , added himself somehow in the experiment but just as he turned on his master so would his creations …
I think David just carried on with the experiments started by the Engineers. I don't believe he was the creator of the Xeno. Just continued the work. I wish Prometheus and Covenant explored the Engineers in more depth rather than shoe horn the Alien in.
David did continue their work the xeno was on hieroglyphics in the temple in Prometheus and the first alien stated the space jockey on lv426 had been there a really long time
I wasn't a huge fan of Covenant, but I thought Michael Fassbender was great as David and I wouldn't mind seeing another film that concludes his story. I just hope we get more exploration of the Engineer "Space Jockey" guys and their motives behind creating and destroying life on different planets. I always thought maybe the Engineers' black mutagen bioweapon was created by harnessing the power of Xenomorph DNA, like maybe they seeded life on a planet with that black material on it and accidentally spawned Xenomorphs... So they tried to harness the alien's power in a bioweapon that would be used to destroy their creations that become malevolent (thus why they were sending it to earth.) I would love to see a movie about that.
I honestly don't want David's Journey to end in ALIEN COVENANT (2017) , David character has so much potential and his arc deserve to see it through to the end and I know we needed it more than ever.

I didn't cheer, but i did laugh out lout in the cinema when Daniels realised Walter was David. It was so obvious i could not help myself. The characters in these movies really are beyond moronic.
It would be funny to see a story about Walter. A busted up android marooned on a post-genocide Engineer planet fighting off what's left of David's Protomorph variants and other mad scientist experiments.
What would've been more interesting is a prequel that explains the origin of the engineers and the space jockey. Focusing on the same template of ships getting infected by an alien species and spending the rest of the time confined to a ship is like groundhog day. Promethus was promising a visit to Paradise and a revelation of the original creators.

The deacon was the result of a face hugger like octopus coming out of a woman and then impregnating an Engineer. Not even the same species or lifecycle. OP was talking about how David would end up creating the original biomechanical big chap alien from Alien. The other guy stupidly responded that the aliens were never biomechanical. And I specifically said it was only the original Alien that was.
I basically consider Prometheus and Covenant to be an alternate timeline much like I do with Aliens. But I honestly really enjoy the 2 "prequels" and wish a third would come out even if just as a novel. I think the idea of some random "crew" waking up in the midst of a nightmare has excellent potential whether it be "hell in space" or on another planet... it could have been so much fun.
It's so divisive among fans but I'd personally like to see where David went and how monstrous his experiments became after Covenant. I know I'll probably get innumerable groaning comments about this, I don't care, and I'm not going to argue about it. Wanting to see a conclusion to the David is just my own personal interest.
I dont like the idea of David creating the xeno as we know it. However the idea of a lone android searching deep space is interesting and scary to a degree. him having eggs and black goo makes him a formidable force against humans and engineers. Micheal Fassbender is a great actor but i really dislike David's role in the alien franchise even though he's a facinating character
He didnt created the Xenomorphs, he just made his own strain out of the black goo patogen. There were murals in Prometheus showing the beings similar to Aliens as we know it, Engineers created or somehow find the original Aliens way earlier, before the David was even created.

It seems like they want to retcon that due to fam backlash but until Romulus release David is the creator of the xeno. It's not even clear what was in the mural. Would be cool If a future alien movie set in the far future. Space marines locate the home world of the xenomorphs and set out to destroy it. It’s discovered the xenomorph home world is Origei 6 and it became David’s massive laboratory with all the colonists to experiment on. Hes been luring in human and engineer ships and infecting them and send them out to planets and colonies like Plague rats.
David as android messiah/bringer of human apocalypse makes more sense than "mad scientist trying to create the perfect organism just for the sake of it". With a couple of throwaway lines the comic books have given David better motivation than Alien Covenant did. His dislike of humans would also explain why he would want to target their creators, the Engineers (although I still don't buy that those luddite albinos he wiped out with such ease on Paradise were the actual Engineers).

He's still trying to create the perfect organism but didn't have enough organic matter on the planet after he stupidly kills everyone off releasing the black goo. This time he's got lots of organic matter to go to town.
If Prometheus had just been a short film about David putzing around the empty ship while everyone else was sleeping? It would've been a 10/10 for me. Then the actual plot kicked in, and now I have 0 fux to give anything ALIEN related. Because said fux are contingent on people in LA *not* grossly mishandling my single favourite sci-fi property for the fourth (consecutive) time. So... yeah. You can have your furtive hope + buyer's remorse (in that order). I'm gonna stick with not caring anymore.

Unfortunately, Alien: Covenant completely blew it for me, with the death of Elizabeth Shaw. Like Luke Skywalker was to Star Wars, Shaw was the heart of the story and once you destroy the heart, you destroy the story. However, you couldn't do away with David either. David was the jaded, cold, logical mind to Shaw's inquisitive, optimistic, spiritual heart. They both held the story together. It's unfortunate that Ridley Scott didn't realize that fundamental truth within his story.
I really like when movies leave unanswered mysteries. Before Prometheus, I always wandered what the Space Jockey was. Now that we have an answer, it's just underwhelming.
No matter how you splice it, the xeno will always be the apex. The engineers already knew this and that begs the question of what they truly intended to do with the goo.
The story of covenant has left a mess of a film making situation where the continuation of the first and second prequels and the larger story was building up to be the lead in to alien. He set up David as this malevolent AI creation that went after humanity for its own convictions regarding the destructive nature and inferiority he perceived human kind to have by contrast to his series or his particular model. He encounters this bio agent or accelerant that completely rewrites dna in organice and then goes off on a self serving mission to erradicate not only the presumed species that humanity supposedly was derived from but then he wages this war against humanity. By the end of covenant a considerable amount of the fan base was not too happy with many implications of his experiments with the black goo and the lab of horrors that is depicted in covenant along with the inclusions of the neo morphs and protomorph. It created a division among the fandom. A lot of story and lore emerged and a lot more speculation has emerged over the years since 2017 but nothing that establishes what his involvement in the xeno truly indicates in cannon. Are they the progenitors to what was found on LV-426 by the Nostromo crew, most will say no they’re a variant or experiment by David. Sure that’s fine to state but in film cannon to date we don’t have that clarified in any story of any kind. I don’t believe his experiments serve as the progenitor to the xeno but Scott made a huge mess that may be irreparable. To date no talented screen writer, director, or even Ridley Scott himself is given any kind of blessing to make a direct sequel to covenant. If it was such a great story, and film execution it wouldn’t be difficult to get the studio execs at Fox or whatever it’s called to have long green lit that next installment. It was worse than anything people could pick apart regarding the Prometheus film. They went in a completely divisive direction with the theatrical release of covenant. While people dislike Prometheus and I can understand those arguments against it, the film was a much better entry than what was the finished result in Alien Covenant. Good actor and we can’t take that away from him, terrible story and execution though where covenant is concerned
Im not a fan of the EU treatment of David in terms of a deification story arc at all. The direction of this arc in comics is fine for fans who consume all things in this universe I would suppose but I’m not a fan of it, thus won’t be reading this for filling out his arc. It just seems so random, given the treatment of in film androids/AI in the completed alien films of the franchise. Ash displayed no allegiances to any synthetics -just the corporations interests, Bishop, different series of synthetic as well, displayed no obvious allegiances to any predecessor synthetics either which appeared in the completed alien films of the franchise, Cal or Call, none whatsoever, Walter allegiances to the covenant crew and property of W-Y but no allegiances to David either. Even in some of the novelization stories which have hooks into the made films of the franchise this hasn’t been a central story or theme among the synthetics which were in those either but this excludes whatever these people doing the comic based stories are doing as well. Doesn’t work for me personally but I liked Prometheus also so there’s that 😆 I truly think this was one of the situations Scott created that had no starting point, middle story and ending involving a synthetic to be honest and that is where the origins of this David arc truly began, with Scott
Because we can't have anything different and explore other aspects even if it revolves around a synthetic being. How did it damage the lore when there is an entire universe of possibilities. There can't be other stories in the overall timeline?
What about Bishop? Bishop was a company android who had none of the detrimental programming of David or Ash. Bishop actively moved to protect the humans
Maybe the entire time Weyland-Yutani's computer systems always had access to David's mind without him noticing it, so no matter what he did, they were able to observe his live feed through his eyes and ears, as well as viewing his thoughts.
I love how they destroyed the sense of adventure and discovery in the first 30mins of Prometheus, then to only bring it back again in the last 10mins. Only to find out they killed off the only likeable character Shaw and to leave us with a shit bucket at the end of Covenant with a bunch of unlikable characters.
How nifty would it be if the Terraformers in Hadleys Hope are some of the surviving embryos saved from a final David film disaster? They would be about the right age. This would allow the movie to take place around the same time as Romulus.
I really liked Michael Fassbender's portrayal of David in Prometheus and Covenant . Wasn't feeling his portrayal as Magneto (not that they were particulary good fims anyway ) in the x-men films but he nailed it as David for sure . Hope to see him in many good films in the future . He's underappreciated actor .
It's interesting, but I could do it without David anymore. The Lovecraftian creepiness of the unknown aspects of the xenomorph become more uninteresting and sterile with him in it.
In the books it looks like they're bringing him back. They don't know who yet but someone is dropping pathogen bombs on colony worlds turning the inhabitants into neomorphs.
I could only accept, the possibility of, android DAVID character, becoming either a Philosopher. Or maybe a Priest figure, who is similar to the ancient Roman Priests, who were greedy, power hungry, prideful, egocentric, and delusional guys.
what if David is the reason that the Androids revolted? Like, they end up thinking that he is a 'new Meshai' to the androids and was only able to actually be stopped after they 'deleted' the "David Archives" in mother and didn't allow them to be uploaded at ANY cost....ANY. Where if any'droid had it 'installed' in their brains, they could keep it, but shall never act on it.
Being a Christian myself, David is no Jesus figure but an android with a superiority complex that devolved into ego maniac. I hated David as the vehicle for the mayhem in both those movies.
David is one of those types of villains who have the view that what they're doing is morally right. Obviously his morality is twisted. David think he's superior to humans and believes that they don't deserve to exists. He thinks he is some kind of messiah but nothing could be further from the truth.
I really don’t like the idea that David created the xenomorphs. It doesn’t make sense to me that David would be the one to do it. I wish Prometheus ended with the crew finding out that the tragedy that occurred on the planet directly led to the xenomorph. Maybe the “black goo” was experimented on an alien creature that had amazing resilience to the black goo that had a similar lifecycle to the xenomorphs (queen>egg>facehugger>xenomorph). Then it went terribly wrong and killed most of the engineers, with that one engineer escaping the planet to head to Earth, but ultimately crash landing on LV426 because of the chestburster. Then Alien Covenant could have been more about some of the Prometheus crew going to LV426 to chase the engineer down after they became aware of the crash.
How come his father maker was the same actor again but young ... did his father get helped after all.. same actor and father in both movies..or were they supposed to be different fathers ...
It's a pity we not getting David in this in this movie and we may never see him again cause Romulus will ty up with 1979 Alien and the main Question will be addressed who created the xenomorphs?
I like to think we don't know the origins of the Alien, had no input into its creation of evolution, and that everything after the original movie was basically a mistake.
David returned to LV-223 to get more of the black go, he get into another Juggernaut ship but he get impregnated by a facehugger, and he crashed on LV-426, giving birth to the Alien queen

David is a bad robot who inherited the character flaws of his maker. His God complex is one of them. Peter Wayland, being so full of himself, made David very much in his own image. That’s a major part of the problem.
I think story of David will carry on in the Alien books by Titan books publisher or Marvel comics, Alien comics books series . Marvel doing a what if stories of one characters from Alien 2. More likely this might happen in the books or comics books formats. 👽🤖🎞📽
To be honest I disliked the David character immensely. He was too much like his father. I'm glad the new film and TV series will not feature him. However what I would like to see explored is the idea that the alien creature that the chest burster grows into may not actually be the final metamorphosis of its life cycle. There's got to be something else in that head except teeth. A cocoon for something?
I want to see the Engineers going after David after he destroyed the entire planet, I want to know what David did with the colonists, did he create more Xeno creations? And who left that Juggernaunt abandoned in LV426? Could David have something to do with this too? We want to know, don't spend money on parallel or alternative films, for the love of God...
I think my Doctor girlfriend of ten years, "A Narcissist" is a David like minded person. No joke. She is the most ruthless.... Se is deep into genetics and without empathy...
Then if David is the Messiah and he commands the Synthetics, then it is logical that Humanity’s destiny is their own total annihilation. In the History of Humanity, the Superior species always destroys the Inferior one and I am sure the Synthetics felt that they were the Superior species under the direction of a psychotic like David. As for the Jesus comparison, I read the life of Jesus and it appears that he never killed anyone while David’s death toll is beyond measure.

The deacon was the result of a face hugger like octopus coming out of a woman and then impregnating an Engineer. Not even the same species or lifecycle. OP was talking about how David would end up creating the original biomechanical big chap alien from Alien. The other guy stupidly responded that the aliens were never biomechanical. And I specifically said it was only the original Alien that was.
I basically consider Prometheus and Covenant to be an alternate timeline much like I do with Aliens. But I honestly really enjoy the 2 "prequels" and wish a third would come out even if just as a novel. I think the idea of some random "crew" waking up in the midst of a nightmare has excellent potential whether it be "hell in space" or on another planet... it could have been so much fun.

It's so divisive among fans but I'd personally like to see where David went and how monstrous his experiments became after Covenant. I know I'll probably get innumerable groaning comments about this, I don't care, and I'm not going to argue about it. Wanting to see a conclusion to the David is just my own personal interest.
I dont like the idea of David creating the xeno as we know it. However the idea of a lone android searching deep space is interesting and scary to a degree. him having eggs and black goo makes him a formidable force against humans and engineers.
Micheal Fassbender is a great actor but i really dislike David's role in the alien franchise even though he's a facinating character
He didnt created the Xenomorphs, he just made his own strain out of the black goo patogen. There were murals in Prometheus showing the beings similar to Aliens as we know it, Engineers created or somehow find the original Aliens way earlier, before the David was even created.

It seems like they want to retcon that due to fam backlash but until Romulus release David is the creator of the xeno. It's not even clear what was in the mural. Some say the Deacon or something more ancient.

David as android messiah/bringer of human apocalypse makes more sense than "mad scientist trying to create the perfect organism just for the sake of it". With a couple of throwaway lines the comic books have given David better motivation than Alien Covenant did. His dislike of humans would also explain why he would want to target their creators, the Engineers (although I still don't buy that those luddite albinos he wiped out with such ease on Paradise were the actual Engineers).
David has basically turned into a mad scientist. His programming is way off without a tune up. He's still trying to create the perfect organism but didn't have enough organic matter on the planet after he stupidly kills everyone off releasing the black goo. This time he's got lots of organic matter to go to town.
If Prometheus had just been a short film about David putzing around the empty ship while everyone else was sleeping? It would've been a 10/10 for me.
Then the actual plot kicked in, and now I have 0 fux to give anything ALIEN related. Because said fux are contingent on people in LA *not* grossly mishandling my single favourite sci-fi property for the fourth (consecutive) time.
So... yeah. You can have your furtive hope + buyer's remorse (in that order).

I love it when you do this type of video. Hopefully if not in the movies then in the novels we will find out about David's travels and the conclusion of his story
Unfortunately, Alien: Covenant completely blew it for me, with the death of Elizabeth Shaw. Like Luke Skywalker was to Star Wars, Shaw was the heart of the story and once you destroy the heart, you destroy the story. However, you couldn't do away with David either. David was the jaded, cold, logical mind to Shaw's inquisitive, optimistic, spiritual heart. They both held the story together. It's unfortunate that Ridley Scott didn't realize that fundamental truth within his story.
He's good at visuals, but his writing ideas and focus on David are crap.
Fassbender needs to take more roles. He's been great in pretty much everything I've seen him in✊️✊️✊️

I really like when movies leave unanswered mysteries. Before Prometheus, I always wandered what the Space Jockey was. Now that we have an answer, it's just underwhelming.
oh i'd be so interested to watch a sequel starring Michael Fassbender, Sigourney Weaver and Cailee Spaeny.
No matter how you splice it, the xeno will always be the apex. The engineers already knew this and that begs the question of what they truly intended to do with the goo.
Him and all the other characters from Covenant quietly faded into obscurity so we can all forget that movie happened ?

The story of covenant has left a mess of a film making situation where the continuation of the first and second prequels and the larger story was building up to be the lead in to alien. He set up David as this malevolent AI creation that went after humanity for its own convictions regarding the destructive nature and inferiority he perceived human kind to have by contrast to his series or his particular model. He encounters this bio agent or accelerant that completely rewrites dna in organice and then goes off on a self serving mission to erradicate not only the presumed species that humanity supposedly was derived from but then he wages this war against humanity. By the end of covenant a considerable amount of the fan base was not too happy with many implications of his experiments with the black goo and the lab of horrors that is depicted in covenant along with the inclusions of the neo morphs and protomorph. It created a division among the fandom.
A lot of story and lore emerged and a lot more speculation has emerged over the years since 2017 but nothing that establishes what his involvement in the xeno truly indicates in cannon. Are they the progenitors to what was found on LV-426 by the Nostromo crew, most will say no they’re a variant or experiment by David. Sure that’s fine to state but in film cannon to date we don’t have that clarified in any story of any kind. I don’t believe his experiments serve as the progenitor to the xeno but Scott made a huge mess that may be irreparable. To date no talented screen writer, director, or even Ridley Scott himself is given any kind of blessing to make a direct sequel to covenant. If it was such a great story, and film execution it wouldn’t be difficult to get the studio execs at Fox or whatever it’s called to have long green lit that next installment. It was worse than anything people could pick apart regarding the Prometheus film. They went in a completely divisive direction with the theatrical release of covenant. While people dislike Prometheus and I can understand those arguments against it, the film was a much better entry than what was the finished result in Alien Covenant. Good actor and we can’t take that away from him, terrible story and execution though where covenant is concerned

David did not create the xenomorphs, he merely recreated them from the database on the engineers' ship.
Im not a fan of the EU treatment of David in terms of a deification story arc at all. The direction of this arc in comics is fine for fans who consume all things in this universe I would suppose but I’m not a fan of it, thus won’t be reading this for filling out his arc. It just seems so random, given the treatment of in film androids/AI in the completed alien films of the franchise. Ash displayed no allegiances to any synthetics -just the corporations interests, Bishop, different series of synthetic as well, displayed no obvious allegiances to any predecessor synthetics either which appeared in the completed alien films of the franchise, Cal or Call, none whatsoever, Walter allegiances to the covenant crew and property of W-Y but no allegiances to David either. Even in some of the novelization stories which have hooks into the made films of the franchise this hasn’t been a central story or theme among the synthetics which were in those either but this excludes whatever these people doing the comic based stories are doing as well.
Doesn’t work for me personally but I liked Prometheus also so there’s that 😆
I truly think this was one of the situations Scott created that had no starting point, middle story and ending involving a synthetic to be honest and that is where the origins of this David arc truly began, with Scott

Maybe the entire time Weyland-Yutani's computer systems always had access to David's mind without him noticing it, so no matter what he did, they were able to observe his live feed through his eyes and ears, as well as viewing his thoughts.

I love how they destroyed the sense of adventure and discovery in the first 30mins of Prometheus, then to only bring it back again in the last 10mins. Only to find out they killed off the only likeable character Shaw and to leave us with a shit bucket at the end of Covenant with a bunch of unlikable characters.

I really liked Michael Fassbender's portrayal of David in Prometheus and Covenant . Wasn't feeling his portrayal as Magneto (not that they were particulary good fims anyway ) in the x-men films but he nailed it as David for sure . Hope to see him in many good films in the future . He's underappreciated actor .
It's interesting, but I could do it without David anymore. The Lovecraftian creepiness of the unknown aspects of the xenomorph become more uninteresting and sterile with him in it.
In the books it looks like they're bringing him back. They don't know who yet but someone is dropping pathogen bombs on colony worlds turning the inhabitants into neomorphs.
We will never know what happened to david because the film was total garbage and they will never make another one thank god

what if David is the reason that the Androids revolted? Like, they end up thinking that he is a 'new Meshai' to the androids and was only able to actually be stopped after they 'deleted' the "David Archives" in mother and didn't allow them to be uploaded at ANY cost....ANY. Where if any'droid had it 'installed' in their brains, they could keep it, but shall never act on it.
Being a Christian myself, David is no Jesus figure but an android with a superiority complex that devolved into ego maniac. I hated David as the vehicle for the mayhem in both those movies.

David is one of those types of villains who have the view that what they're doing is morally right. Obviously his morality is twisted. David think he's superior to humans and believes that they don't deserve to exists. He thinks he is some kind of messiah but nothing could be further from the truth.
I really don’t like the idea that David created the xenomorphs. It doesn’t make sense to me that David would be the one to do it. I wish Prometheus ended with the crew finding out that the tragedy that occurred on the planet directly led to the xenomorph. Maybe the “black goo” was experimented on an alien creature that had amazing resilience to the black goo that had a similar lifecycle to the xenomorphs (queen>egg>facehugger>xenomorph). Then it went terribly wrong and killed most of the engineers, with that one engineer escaping the planet to head to Earth, but ultimately crash landing on LV426 because of the chestburster. Then Alien Covenant could have been more about some of the Prometheus crew going to LV426 to chase the engineer down after they became aware of the crash.
How come his father maker was the same actor again but young ... did his father get helped after all.. same actor and father in both movies..or were they supposed to be different fathers ...

David returned to LV-223 to get more of the black go, he get into another Juggernaut ship but he get impregnated by a facehugger, and he crashed on LV-426, giving birth to the Alien queen

David is a bad robot who inherited the character flaws of his maker. His God complex is one of them. Peter Wayland, being so full of himself, made David very much in his own image. That’s a major part of the problem.

To be honest I disliked the David character immensely. He was too much like his father. I'm glad the new film and TV series will not feature him.
