The (Low) German influence on Norwegian language once was huge (Medieval Hansa merchants). Pronounciation too. The guttural "R" arrived in Bergen, conquered the west and spread to the south coast. Luckily it finally stopped, just south of Risør. So, my east-norwegian children will roll their "r"s, just like me. He he.
