    s05e09 - A Weekend at Morrigan Manor:
The housemates are invited for a weekend away at the home of a mysterious, illustrious vampire.
    s05e10 - Exit Interview:
The vampires search for a missing Guillermo.
A look into the nightly lives of four vampires who have lived together on Staten Island for over a century.
What We Do in the Shadows is an American mockumentary comedy horror television series created by Jemaine Clement, first broadcast March 27, 2019, on FX. The series follows four vampire roommates on Staten Island, and stars Kayvan Novak, Matt Berry, Natasia Demetriou, Harvey Guillén, Mark Proksch, and Kristen Schaal.
Based on the 2014 New Zealand film of the same name, written by Clement and Taika Waititi, it is the second television series in the franchise. The fifth season of What We Do in the Shadows premiered on July 13, 2023,[1] with a sixth season renewal already confirmed.[2] It has been critically acclaimed (particularly for its cast and writing) and nominated for 21 Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Comedy Series in 2020 and 2022 for its second and third season, respectively.
Kayvan Novak as Nandor the Relentless - Once the bloodthirsty leader of the fictional kingdom of Al-Quolanudar in southern Iran and a warrior serving the Ottoman Empire. At age 760, he is the oldest vampire and the self-proclaimed leader of the group, leading him to frequently calling house meetings for frivolous discussions. Although he genuinely cares for his human familiar Guillermo, he has difficulty expressing it. Nandor is also quite naive to the ways of modern society and humans, which often results in Guillermo becoming frustrated with him. He is a massive fan of the 1992 Dream Team and collects much of their memorabilia; they also inspired him to apply for American citizenship, but he fails his test after being physically unable to say the phrase One Nation, Under God.
Matt Berry as Leslie "Laszlo" Cravensworth - A 310-year-old British nobleman vampire who was turned by Nadja and is now married to her. He is pansexual and a former porn actor, who is often preoccupied with thoughts of sex; he enjoys sexual relationships with both Nadja and Nandor. He also enjoys making topiary sculptures of vulvas in the yard, including those of his wife and mother. He confessed in season 1 to having been Jack the Ripper. In season 2, he briefly goes on the run and assumes the alias "Jackie Daytona", a "regular human bartender" in Clairton, Pennsylvania (which he chose because it sounded like Transylvania).
Natasia Demetriou as Nadja of Antipaxos - A 500-year-old Greek Romani vampire who turned Laszlo into a vampire and later married him. She is frequently frustrated with her male housemates and nostalgic about her human life. She has entertained an affair with a reincarnated knight named Gregor for hundreds of years, only for him to be decapitated in every reincarnation. In season 3, she reveals that she frequently collaborated with the Rat Pack and later becomes manager of her own vampire nightclub in season 4.
Demetriou also plays Nadja's human ghost, split from its corporeal form when Nadja was turned into a vampire, who inhabits a doll, which has appeared since the second season.
Harvey Guillén as Guillermo de la Cruz - Nandor's long-suffering Latino familiar. Despite his frustration with his unreasonable workload and Nandor's disregard for his mortality, he has served his master for more than a decade in the hope of being made a vampire, a dream inspired by Armand in the 1994 film Interview with the Vampire. Late in season one, Guillermo discovers that he is a descendant of the famous vampire hunter Abraham Van Helsing, and he proves to be very skilled at killing vampires (including by accident), giving him conflicting feelings about his desire to become a vampire. Guillermo's skill as a vampire slayer leads to him becoming a bodyguard for Nandor, Nadja, and Laszlo in the third season. He reveals he is gay in the fourth season, coming out to his family, with Nadja having to erase their memories about Guillermo's confession about wishing to become a vampire.

When Guillermo is hiding out and he says he wishes they had Bravo here...
Bravo is an American TV network that airs popular reality shows like The Real Housewives... a show popular among the LGBTQ community.

I love how Nandor is a total dumbass when it comes to everything except Guillermo. Then he knows exactly what to do and say. Like he actually knows him? And it was one of the only times he was actually serious?

I don't know for me it felt a little anticlimactic that finale. All the previous season was kind of wasted and we're back to the start. I guess Guillermo would be more comfortable in the "true blood" universe where synthetic blood exists and vampires don't have to feed on humans 😅 at least I hope for the final they will have nandor and Guillermo together from the first episode and not make us wait till the series finale.

I feel like they completely ignored the lore that was already established in the movie and 1st season. Like, I thought it was fairly obvious that Guillermo should have had human blood to complete his transformation, like Jenna in season 1. Also the whole biggest insult to a vampire when their familiar gets turned by another vampire isn't actually true because in the movie, Jackie was turned by Nick, and Deacon didn't kill himself or her so, I didn't see the point of that.

@@GenevaCnwy one more thing is the soul issue. All of them had ghosts caused they technically died but when would Guillermo loose his soul? When would he die too?

True... but I also know that he never really WANTED to be a vampire, wasn't very good at it either, and he was very lonely too. So at least now he has a bunch of other zombies around him to teach him the ropes and keep him company! Topher was pretty Nice to him, and Derek seemed almost excited to join them.

30:48: "Do you want me to [kill him]?"
    "I don't know"
    "I do. Give me that."
Nandor DEFINITELY just wanted to kill Derek let's be honest lolol.
I'm super curious about where they're gonna go with next season. I think romantic nandermo endgame would be very thematically satisfying (at least for Nandor's arc), but I'm also not gonna hold my breath. This show is delightfully queer, but usually only when they can make it comedic. I'm expecting it to be an ambigious thing at best, but I'd love to be wrong!
You also mentioned Laszlo especially warming up to Guillermo, and I wanted to point out at the end when Topher was acting like he was gonna attack Guillermo, Laszlo used his arm to block him. It was another really cute moment for them!

I cannot fathom how they pulled it back so instantly and completely after the weird sourness of S4. This whole season has been madness but with so much more heart, and might actually be my favourite overall. I wouldn't even have carried on watching after S4 if it hadn't been for these!

Love that show and felt similar to you about Nando & Guillermo. Do you know when the new season is coming out? I see F/X boost the WWDITS videos periodically so keeping hope alive. It seems like Matt Berry's done one project after the other, prolific fellow, but I hope they're back soon😭 I am not very familiar with Lost so I'll keep up with those probably and IWAV. Are you going to school for video editing??

I hate the last episode so much. I feel cheated on several levels!
    1. We were prepared all this season that Nandor would not be able to forgive such a betrayal and humiliation. This was repeated in almost every episode: first, the vampires said that "betrayal" was no laughing matter; then when Derek and Guillermo came to the Baron. Then Laszlo, Nadja, the Baron and finally Nandor found out about the "betrayal", and each of them repeated that Nandor would k*ll Guillermo... And in the last episode, it took Nandor 5 minutes to give up revenge for the humiliation that we were promised all season!?! It would have been better if Nandor had been looking and hunted Guillermo for at least a few episodes before forgiving him, or if the resolution had been postponed to the next season.
    2. And we've been told about Guillermo's dream of becoming a vampire for all 5 seasons! Most of the series was based on this expectation! And again, in the last episode, Guillermo suddenly changes his mind in 5 minutes. Is it because he can't k*ll a human? Is it strange that he didn't feel sorry for people before? After 13 years of bringing people to vampires, seeing them k*lled, then cleaning, dism*mb*ring and b*rying the bodies. All this for the sake of becoming a vampire... It's also interesting that Guillermo felt sorry for k*lling a stranger, but not sorry for k*lling Derek, who was his friend and had helped him several times...
I'm upset that this story started to fall apart for me because of some chaotic decisions at the end. Which could have easily been postponed to the next season to think them through better🥲🥲🥲

Great reaction, not sure if you’ve already seen this show but I’d highly recommend Bones. Like Buffy and Angel it’s a very addictive show that manages to retain its quality through 12 seasons
David Boreanaz is one of the leads in it and gets to lean even more into his comedy and directs a few of the episodes himself

On THAT lamp, he did run out of wishes a long time ago, bit the Djinn has no reason to correct Nandor on his mistake.

@@wandanemer2630 yes, that was very clearly the big lamp he tried to use. My prediction is he will eventually remember and use his wishes in season 6 and that at least one of them will be used to make himself and possibly some of the others human again.
