    This is awesome. It's just makes me sad that many teachers who also deserve this, don't usually get it.

      I just thought of 11 teachers I've had over the years who I think deserve something like this. None of them get nearly enough credit for what they do.

      11? Really? Either you have kind of low standards or I am too critical... I probably had about 5 teachers that I'd consider above average. none of them I'd be really interested in doing something like this for. maybeee one of them if she hadn't have died of cancer some years back. I hardly even remember my first grade teacher. She left very little impression on me.

    Wow. Just wow. I'm in 9th grade, and this video nearly brought me to tears. I wish I could have a chance to see my 1st grade teacher again. Just thinking about the past brings me to tears. Its 2015 now, and I'm like wow, I'm already a high schooler. All my memories, my past....its been 15 years since I was born. I can'r believe 15 years. I still remember the day I walked through the door to preschool.... during snack time, I ate my entire lunch and was hungry the rest of the day xD....I remember the moment I let go of my moms hand, and went to first grade, 2nd and so on. can still remember the days when I was just a little kid. From the moment you start to walk, from the moment you say your first words, and then when you look back, it makes me cry. I wish I could stay a little kid forever, not having to watch my parents age along with me, knowing that one day, I won't have them in life. I wish I could relive the past. because you don't know what upholds you in the future, but you can build upon from your past :)

    I just watched this amazing video and it brought me to tears! The most influential people in my life have been teachers; one in particular was Dorothy R. Toaster my sixth grade teacher! It is unfortunate that people can watch something so touching and still find something negative to say! For all those negative and angry people find something else to do other than criticize! To this awesome teacher , Mrs. Toaster Scott and every wonderful teacher - I salute you and say thanks! !!

    One of the great treasures of life is the gift of love. You may not even realize how your positive words could affect someone. Once a ran into a girl from high school I couldn't remember her name but she had told me that I had convinced her not to commit suicide and she thanked me so much. I hadn't even realized I did that while I'm sure I did, but it's great when you can see the work you do and it comes back and remembers you! Obviously an amazing teacher! Spread love. There are Many people I would love to thank that I may never see again.

    This is such a sweet and touching video! She seems like she inspired a lot of people. I wish more teachers could be like that. Going through school I'm very sad to say that I encountered teachers no better than your average teenage bully, and then seldom would I find that one diamond in the rough who was not only an inspirational and intelligent teacher, but a friend to his/her students. I hope that one day the world is blessed with more people like this woman who seems to have had a wonderful career.
    It's depressing to think of how many crimes and horrible things some teachers have been getting away with these days, and getting nothing more than a slap on a the wrist and paid leave. I know that teachers are hard to come by, but surely anyone would be better than someone who mistreats their students on severe levels?
    Bless this teacher's heart, though. She was so adorable when she was in shock / so surprised! Thank you for sharing this video, uploader. :)

    I am seriously choking up right now. It's so sweet and I think I'm going to seriously cry. It's really adorable and how incredible a teacher worked for 41 year! The part when one of her old students explained the time when she went from door to door singing a song really got me. ;-;

    This is so amazing. My elementary school teachers were and still are some of the most influential and inspiring people in my life. I wish I could go back now to thank them and tell them how much they're kindness and care for me meant in my life. I love seeing things like this because some teachers truly are gifts to children and deserve to know how much they mean.

    i dont usually say this, but, awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww. it is really touching to see how much of a positive impact a 1st grade teacher can have. kids should be encouraged from a young age to be the best they can be and not to be shy of their talents, just like this teacher did for her students. i think back to when i was in my first year at school and i still remember the positive encouragement i received from some of my teachers when it came to drawing, and it is probably one of the reasons i stuck at it (im 20 now), because those kind words can have such a massive impact on a young person.

      well... all exceptional teachers... this lady sounded like she was a real great one.. I mean you could hear her out in the hallway telling everyone hi and good morning before she knew about the surprise, things like that kind of tip you off that she probably brings a lot of positive energy into her work and her life... um, honestly, I never had a teacher that I recall that meant a whole lot to me. I had a handful of good ones, but none that I would ever go out of my way to do something like this for.

      not all, only the best type. I had a teacher once that was tired of teaching and dealing with stupid students. Just counting the days until she got out of hell finally. it's basically how she put it. Most uncaring individual I have ever met. Also had an art teacher in elementary that was just brutal on all the kids, the fat angry bitch died 3 years later and I was damn glad as a kid.

    This reminded me of my 1st grade teacher in Pomona California at Mendoza elementary school; Mrs. Base. She learned Spanish, Vietnamese and a couple of other languages so that she could talk directly to all of our parents. She was great! I'll never forget her. I will also always remember Mr. Anderson, my 10th grade sociology teacher at John W. North High. He is most likely why I'm a therapist today. He was deeply understanding, genuine and fair. I took his psychology class in my junior year and became fascinated with the subject. Great teachers rock!

      Absolutely. All it takes is ONE teacher to show you love and tell you you're good enough, to light a fire under your butt and make you desire and crave learning and education. And likewise, all it takes is ONE teacher to be cold and mean and embarrass his/her students, to make them hate school and shut down.
