I grew up at US.30! My dad was the only Black Starter in the United States at that time. His name was STARTER CARTER! I was out their every Weds, Sunday during the summer until the track closed in 84.
I remember your dad at the track. He was a real Pro. I had a 1969 Hurst Olds and took it there once to race. And I remember your dad staging me at the lights. Memories
Was down there once early 70's , we had a pro stock from Appleton Wi. and qualified. They really put on a show back then with nitro funnycars , jets , and prostocks.
Nothing like real 98% Nitro racing, NHRA needs to go backwards to go forward. These cars were way more affordable to run, and put on an show with fire in the pipes, long smoky burnouts, dry hops and unbelievable nitro sounds. Don't care if they never went 330mph. Please wake up NHRA!!!!!
These AA/FC's were the best ! I'd rather watch these any day than modern cars. Really pathetic how weak willed nhra became. Now it's 1000' racing instead of 1/4 mile ? Bite me. I live 40 minutes from Pomona raceway and haven't gone to a race there in at least 15.years.
I grew up going to this dragstrip. Jeff Galka with the 1970 candy red Chevelle called Primo introduced me to drag racing when I was 11 years old by letting me tag along nearly every Sunday, Sunday, Sunday..., and I've been hooked ever since. If anyone knows what became of Jeff, I'd sure love to say hello.

I remember that post blue ribbon rack. No big thing😂
At least they look like real cars, and they are all different.

Everything you replied here is true NHRA drag racing has lost so much of its audience when these cars ran the stands were packed
I wonder where all these cars are at now ????
The Footage of Al Bergers is priceless!
In a world of Chevy Vegas, the Charger and Grand Am were HUGE cars.
Love these old Funny Car videos. Really takes me back to my childhood. Thank you so much for uploading.

SUNDAY SUNDAY SUNDAY US 30 DRAGSTRIP WHERE THE GREAT ONES RUN NOTHING LIKE WEDNESDAY NIGHT MATCH RACE MADDNESS
Now these were funny cars. I really dislike the "shells" that are passing for Funny's these days.

Thanks for watching and liking my videos. I'm all for safety. but they have used it in so many ways in our sports. It's destroyed the sports we loved.
