Metal is basically shadowed enough though in the intro to still keep his involvement until you play through as a surprise, since he usually reveals himself after you finish one of the team's routes.
As someone who never played Sonic CD, I never knew who the shadowed figure at the end was when I was younger. That is until I started to read the comics and dig a bit deeper into the Sonic Lore.

I would just idle around in the main menu for HOURS waiting for my mom to come back from work so we can play split-screen co-op mode (I did that in a lot of games, just waiting on the main menu waiting for mom). Even the logo sound effect (Shine effect) is something I used to imitate like "sheoew sheow!" brought a tear to my eye just to remember that. God I was small, not even 4 or 5 years old. Felt good to share this, thank you.
They should add this song to a scene in one of the sonic movies. Just sonic tails and kuckles vs egg man's drones leaving nothing but ruins robots behind them.
Thanks to this game and Sonic Gems Collection ( I guess that's why Metal Sonic is my favourite ), I have became addicted to this franchise and I don't regret it

I like Sonic Heroes and this was the first Sonic game I played and we need Shadow Sonic Silver Tails Amy Knuckles Cream and their friends as all playable characters again permanently with darker edgier and more serious stories I like playing as Sonic Shadow Silver and Tails best. I prefer Sonic over Mario.
I wish this game would get re-released. Sadly, the graphics engine for both this game and Shadow the Hedgehog has been in copyright limbo for a long time now.
