In 1985-86, I purchased a pair of the same lamps you are sitting next to in this video (mine had pleated off white shades, however) to decorate my first apartment's living room. While I no longer have the lamps, I still like them a lot & may have to keep my eye out for them again when thrifting! Nice home!

Putting a pretty (breakable) vase on a pedestal isn't really an option for me and I'd love to get some ideas how to style my home around the children's items I have to have in this moment of life.

Kristen, I’m not a fan of the plaid pillow on your sofa. I guess it’s because I grew up in the 70’s. We over loaded on plaids back then. Plaid everything! I love your style and that you do so much of the work yourself. You’re helping women feel empowered!
Haha I’ll always love plaid! Maybe because of my Scottish heritage 😊 i think it’s a cozy classic pattern!

These are wonderful tips but they are more aimed at the larger sized rooms where there is space to follow the tips you offered. I find that a good idea used once looks great, but when it is used several times can look overused and repetitive, like stacking books for height for example and not all homes have enough power points in a room for three lamps...........I love your ideas but can't really use them also I don't have a Walmart.

When someone says bring in colour, l think of primary and secondary hues.
Your home is overall a warm neutral palette: cream, beige, brown with accents of white, gray and black. A pinch of green via foliage.
Yes, neutrals are colour but not colourful in the sense of vibrancy as red, blue, yellow, green and purple.
Your home is lovely implementing the warm neutrals and l can appreciate the aesthetic.

I’m getting those lamps for my bedroom. I have been looking for something that would work. And those definitely will. I have touch lamps in there now. And they stink. I accidentally touch them when I go to bed. My husband goes to bed way before me. So if I bump it, on it comes and I have to keep touching it until it goes off. So I have them in my cart. And will get them this week. I don’t want to bring in branches from our trees. I’m sure they are full of bugs. I’ll buy stems at a store or leave the branches outside for a while.

Where do you find your beautiful dresses
I saw the idea of a runner in another video of yours. So I bought a runner that has the colors of my home. Wow, what a difference. My bathroom was remodeled a few years ago with neutrals, but it wasn't truly completed until I added the runner. Thanks for the idea. I love watching your programs.
