    Wow. That's the most times I've heard "diegetic" and "non-diegetic" in 5 minutes. Yes, I had to look it up. Great reviews AND educational to boot.

      I admit, I struggled with maybe explaining what diegetic music was. I was very familiar how it worked in the context of cinema, but not with musicals and I had to research as to how the term applied to musicals. The best definition I found used The Sound of Music as an example. When the Captain sing Edelweiss, or when Maria and the children sing Do-Re-Me, it’s diegetic, because they’re consciously aware they are singing. But songs like Sixteen Going on Seventeen is non-diegetic.

    These were the most nondiagetic diagetic numbers I've ever heard lol. I think what bothered me the most was them trying to shoehorn in all of the plot points into the band's songs. It doesn't bother me so much when used as nondiagetic songs but it really grated on my nerves to be used in the diagetic songs.
