Money Matters is a series where I have conversations with normal people such as you and I, on your personal finance issues.
It is important to note that I am NOT a financial expert, I am NOT SEBI registered, and I am NOT qualified to give financial advice.
Everything that I say in these videos is purely through my own experiences.
    - So these videos do not offer any stock tips, or specific mutual fund recommendations or get-rich-quick schemes.
    - I am not selling any product or service through these videos.
    - None of the brands that I mention in these videos have paid me to mention them, unless I explicitly say so (and I will say if the video is sponsored).
This also means that my advice may not always be the right advice. So incase I make a mistake, the best way to correct me will be to share your point of view in the comments, so that everyone can benefit from it.
I am not perfect, nor claiming to be either and would love to learn and grow.
The idea is simply to help people with their finance journey and through their story try to help others who may have a similar story.

Ankur, I agree with your plan with just a small change. If he is so much in debt I wouldn’t do the ELSS until he is paid off the PLs. That way he can come out of the loans may be 6 months earlier by diverting the extra 5K there. With his 55k salary he won’t pay a lot of taxes under new regime in any case.
Alternatively, he can also use the 5K per month to build his emergency fund until he clears off the PLs. That will ensure he does not have to take out another PL if any emergency arise during the 1.5 yrs time frame.
You also did not count the corpus value of the ELSS in your final figure of 3-4 cr.

step 1: stop SIP save 5k
step 2: clear 15k loan of bank asap
    step 3: collect 20k money
step 4: go to your office HR and ask for salary advance and take ((55k/2) * 12) = 3.3 lacs but 22.5k will be deducted in your salary every month which is equals to all emis + sip
step 5: clear all loans with step 4 and step 3 money
step 6: delete all loan apps
step: 7: you should not do any extra activities for next 12 months as step 4 salary deductions will be for 12 months.
step 8: after 12 months you will be saved half of your salary + 3500 (current savings)
    step 9: create Emergency fund
step 10: now you can start your tax saving SIP

Okay you have good idea for asking but HR will not ready for then
but he is taken loan from application and it's on 30%
then it should take other loan for all amount which may be on 16% and clear all that debt
and start give big emi to banks instand of all 5 emis
then ask help for ma papa ko bolo help kare kuch gold ho toh sell karna hi better option he kyuki
      gold is inventment option
mummy papa ko gold pasand hota he lekin vo bacche se jyada pyar karte honge esa me manta hu
sell you unwanted items it may save your intersets

Felt my heart sinking as he was narrating all the loans !

  • @CMA_Jyoti_Singh_
    @CMA_Jyoti_Singh_ 6 місяців тому +12

Currently he has total loan of 3,50,000 with emi per month of about 19.5k. What if he take a loan 3,50,000 which will cost 3,60,000 after processing charges and documentation for 4 years. It will make emi of about 9,500 every month.
He can pay off all his loans at once. Other than that, he will save 10,000 in hand as compared to previous emi's. But he will be able to save the amount for emergency fund from just next month. And in next 10 months, he will have 1 lakh as emergency fund. Instead of waiting for Oct, 25. Other than that, if he wants to, he can make part payment of loan as per his convenience so as to pay it earlier.
But I feel he will be in comfort from just next month with this method.
As per current situation, what if he needs emergency fund of even 10,000 in just 1-2 month. He will take another loan. Because as per this excel sheet, he will left with 0 every month.
The idea is good but practically not possible.

Brilliant way of tackling out a debt trap. When Tanmoy started narrating about his loans and the fact that he was not even aware of the interest rates of his ongoing loans, it gave me chills.... But the suggestions Ankur gave to Tanmoy was just brilliant. I hope Tanmoy clears all his debts soon and achieve financial stability... all the best 👍

This won’t work, not at all sustainable. Focus on finding a cheaper place to live, focus on switching and increasing salary. Any bonus / gift received should go to paying off loans. Non essential stuff should be sold off on olx/ebay, again to pay off loans. Start a second job/work on weekends/overtime to pay off loans.

Hats off to Tanmoy, for his courage to come on this show so vulnerable. People should learn from him, how to ask for help when situation is tough!
coming to Ankur's suggestion, it is not practical, I can say he is in very tight grocery/food expenses, once he get to know that he has some more surplus money, he will spend it for at least needs; although I really think he missed some expenses in the calculation itself, he said in the beginning that what is left- he uses it for food/grocery i.e. 6k. If it is not 6k and 9-10k instead, he would have said that.
Also, I wonder how he manage his marriage? How he will take care of his emergency fund in the next 1 year? What about his child planning? What about his traveling expenses like going home and returning in a year? What about his vacation planning?
Although the main point of this video is to pay your debts first then invest and avoid loans as much as possible. Thank you Ankur for highlight that.

This video is purely hypothetical. I would suggest you to take one more interview of Tanmoy in Oct 25 to check whether this plan worked for him or not. As far as i can see tanmoy is in huge debt crisis right now and only a loyal friend can save him by providing him an interest free load for 01 year covering the entire amount of personal loans taken by Tanmoy till now.
He has to reduce his living expenses by heavily cutting down his rent. 12000 rent is too much for a bachelor, 4-5k must be sufficient.
Now, the assumption on which your whole plan is working are:
    1) Tanmoy is not going to have any emergency till Oct 25, what if he gets an emergency in between?
    2) Tanmoy will be in continuous job till Oct'25, how can you be so sure that he will not be laid off? He is in pvt sector not govt.
    3) Some expenditure are very unexpected, like if he got his laptop dead and has to buy new laptop? Got his mobile dead and has to buy a new mobile. How is your plan taking care of unexpected and necessary expenses?
I am expecting reply of my concerns from Ankur Sir

    • @Kartha6096
      @Kartha6096 6 місяців тому +2

How is this hypothetical bro. Its pure reality on display. No Need for too much doom and gloom like him getting laid off and such. he's young he will get another job. Dead Laptop and dead mobile is not an unsurmountable expense. His financial black hole will be the marriage he would be planning in his mind. Apart from that he looks pretty realistic and a good case study for all middle incomes.

    • @kaushalkumarsingh6063
      @kaushalkumarsingh6063 6 місяців тому

@@Kartha6096 bro, he gets so many emergencies in past and he won't get any till Oct'25 (18 months) does this makes sense to you?
Laptop and mobiles are very costly nowadays, a good laptop costs around 50k-60k and good mobile costs around 20k-30k, and just by looking at his condition, these expenses can create an emergency.
Marriage is not something to be afraid of as he can marry after Oct'25 if everything goes as planned.
How can this be a good case study, everything is in his favour only like no financial emergency for the next 18 months, no additional expenditure for the next 18 months, 18 months is a huge time bro that's why I suggested Ankur to interview this guy again in Oct'25 to get the clear image.

This is a mknd blowing session indeed. But, just an additional suggestion, tanmoy is paying a fixed expense of 21,500 monthly. Just a thought.
Instead of closing his first loan at 6th month after an assumed 3500.
(There is no emergency backup added in any of the calculation above.)
I would recommend him to take one big personal loan at 5 year tenure so his emi is Lower and clear all the app based loans and low hanging loans. Assuming 3-4lakhs would do it.
Alternatively he can request for a salary advance and start clearing out app based loans faster in say 2-3 months.
That will free up almost 11-12k of his monthly income.
That can be used to payoff the newly taken loan or ride out the advance salary taken.

Bhagat Singh and Rajguru, both carrying loaded revolvers, left the house early the next day.[33] Dressed in western attire (Bhagat Singh cut his hair, shaved his beard and wore a hat over cropped hair), and carrying Devi's sleeping child, Singh and Devi passed as a young couple, while Rajguru carried their luggage as their servant. At the station, Singh managed to conceal his identity while buying tickets, and the three boarded the train heading to Cawnpore (now Kanpur). There they boarded a train for Lucknow since the CID at Howrah railway station usually scrutinised passengers on the direct train from Lahore.[33] At Lucknow, Rajguru left separately for Benares while Singh, Devi and the infant went to Howrah, with all except Singh returning to Lahore a few days later.

On loans, you are paying 14-18% interest.

After watching everything and formula to save and prepayment of loan , I feel in ELSS if he closes to pay loan than I feel he will able to save before Oct 25 , and according to me rest everything is ok but there is no point to save money before closing loan . He must start stopping MF SIP of ELSS as he might not able to withdraw before 3 years so again he can start after finishing all loan ....

but what about his desires and expenses on travel he wishes to take or clothes for family and other things which are also to be taken into account. like in diwali or be it a friends marriage! he will earn and save and spend on basic necessities, only at this scenario.. only when he switches his company and get a 30% hike then only he can think about that amount for spending

Ankur Sir pls make some videos on US stocks. We want a separate video on VOO vs VOOG vs VOOV and also vs NASDAQ. It is hard to invest without proper knowledge. In your earlier videos you said to invest in Vanguard. But in which vanguard should I invest? Is it VOO or VOOG or VOOV. Pls make a separate video sir. I searched in UA-cam many times, there isn't a single video about this topic. You just got a new topic. Pls sir make a new video. After your clarification I will invest. All procedure is completed in INDmoney. I just need to make sure in which Vanguard or NASDAQ should I invest. Pls sir. Thank u. Love from Kolkata.

He needs to cut down on his rent, get a side gig for extra income or change job for higher compensation immediately. Ankur's excel sheet is too hypothetical, without considering any emergency until Oct 2025. Investment is a faraway dream in his case. Also, without meaning to judge at all, taking loans is also a habit, and despite best interest and intention, I doubt he will not be tempted to take more loans. App loans are terrible! I am sure his 2 wheeler loan is from an NBFC tied up with the dealer. In that case, the interest rate would be atleast 20%. He does not check the interest rate before taking loans, which also indicates towards his habit of taking loans. Wishing him all the best.

I was wondering why Ankur did not suggest him to take a personal loan & pay off rest all the loans at a time. As per my knowledge, a big loan for little longer time from a single place will have less internet atleast compared to the app loans he had.

One question always comes to mind that you suggest the investment pattern to someone on the basis of his current situation for the next 20 to 30 years. But in the future maybe his situation is different and he is not in the situation to invest. so how in that situation what should they do in terms of investment??

You always mention okay one large cap one small and one mid cap this will give this this much return now here's your corpus but the reality is mid cap and small cap best performers keep changing and if the choosen once are not performing for 1 or 2 year then you've withdraw money and invest in the other and if that happens one or two or more time again then you'll not be able to see the estimated corpus. What is the solution you have now?
