Your prisons get paid more if they are not full and local towns rely on their business. So arrest more to get more in prison to support the local economy. On top of that make them make goods for cents so you can have cheap goods that takes the work from citizens. A real nice place you have there.

Some of my former colleagues, I am ashamed to say, relished the power to treat people like shit, ESPECIALLY a privileged white woman from a first world country. This current crop of CBP officers, obviously, is no different. Give them and inch and they take a mile. Take everything to the extreme. What the HELL is the need for shackles if she is not a criminal? Bunch of clowns at the border, feeling their power on steroids with this current POSOTUS. SHAMEFUL and RIDICULOUS. That's a nice sentiment. Really it is. The problem is that the United States has been the hegemon for the last few decades, and as the hegemon has perpetuated a global economic system that prioritises the western world, while leaving billions of people having to suffer the consequences of a complex, unjust global financial and economic system. That's why the underprivileged around the world have flocked to western countries, especially the US, because the rest of the world is in a horrible state. At least Trump allows everyone to clearly see the US for what it is -- a country that has a long way to go before it even remotely lives up to the ideals it thinks it cherishes.

Back in 2009, my Romanian wife at the time was abducted by ICE,(I’m American btw). She sat in ICE detention in Pompano Beach, FL. For six months before they deported her. I was only allowed to visit her there on Sundays. She was a non criminal, and all the rest of the women in that place were non criminals as well. It was a very traumatic experience for her, and I. I’ve gone to see her in Romania quite a few times but, She’s never gotten back here to the US since. They made it difficult for her to get back here.

She is also correct about the detentions being a business with American tax dollars paying for the detention of people who should not be in detention centers to begin with.

Biden received five student draft deferments, first as an undergraduate at the University of Delaware and later as a law student at Syracuse University.
And after a medical exam in April 1968, he received the "1-Y" classification, which meant he could only be drafted in a national emergency.
Biden released his Selective Service records to the Associated Press in 2008. At the time, a spokesperson said he was "disqualified from service because of asthma as a teenager,"

And over in normal countries if your visa application is denied you go home, you aren't detained for 12 days in a legal limbo. She even said she was in the process of booking a flight back to Canada when she was detained because she wasn't trying to stay in America she was trying to leave. So congrats, you've ended up arguing that someone applying for a visa at the border, something she had successfully done at that same location before, should be housed on the taxpayer's dime for 12 days instead of being allowed to leave. Ever think you'd end up with that position just to continue to pretend everything is normal?

      1) She was denied the Visa for some minor paperwork works as she stated. Which means she had No proper papers. She was asked to come back the day after.
      2) instead she decided to push her Visa through another border through her lawyer's connections
      3) After a while she got caught, they found out what she did and her Visa was taken away.
      4) She then tried to push her Visa through another third border, which is when she got caught by ICE.

I didn't have to go to prison to have this treatment from our own government, services and systems, because I wasn't privileged in anyone's eye but my own. We all have to change and that includes our government, our policies, our way. No country gets to point fingers, I can tell you first hand on the abuse and manipulation that was put upon me and my kids. Documents made up and changed through a Catholic school and with the support of children's aid...only after children's aid found 10 other cases of abuse done on other children. It was shut down and closed within 5 days. The power they have had for generations is coming to an end all around the world. Lets stop this insanity on blame and shame, no one gets a free pass. I feel for absolutely everyone in that position, but it's not just a USA issue, it's also in our own back yard. Sending love and support around the world, and may we see peace and harmony prevail!!! Wake up every one and who can you help. Stop closing your eyes to what's been around all along and everywhere. Do you know who your neighbor is? Can you help someone, have you even tried, do you ever ask if anyone needs help, love, support, food?

Few questions for you. Maybe I'm reading your comment wrong and not understanding it. You said you moved and lived in the US for 23 years and that is no longer the country you knew? How was your green card application pending if you lived in the US for 23 years? Never applied?
If you were a green card holder, why didn't you apply for citizenship after the 5 year residency period?
Not trying to be an asshole or anything but I'm just curious.

    • @aerojovi
      @aerojovi 2 місяці тому +4

@@KalboVelloHi! I’m an immigration attorney and maybe I can help clear up (possibly) what could have happened here.
Our immigration processing times for permanent residency /green cards vary wildly between processing centers and the basis under which you apply (marriage, family member of a US citizen, work visa, asylum, etc.). On average, I’d say the processing time is about 2-3 years. If that was the case, and this commenter had just applied for his green card earlier in 2016, then it’s very possible for him to not receive the green card until 2019. After that, staying in the US an additional 3 years would mean he still couldn’t apply for citizenship/naturalization unless his green card was based on marriage to a U.S. citizen.
(Permanent residents can apply for citizenship after 5 years unless their green card is marriage based, then it’s 3 years.)
I hope this helps and I’m so glad to see people learning more about our complicated immigration system, how difficult it actually is, and the many different ways someone can be in the U.S. lawfully even before they’re a permanent resident.
