    I put in a mini split in our Keystone Mini 17-1/2 foot trailer. We put in a 12,000 BTU mini split. Works great. It will maintain the trailer colder than you want even when it’s 100 degrees outside. I installed a small fan to help distribute the cool air.

    Great Video, really shows how well that works, and having the watt draw and solar coming in was very helpful too. Great job Cody.

    Added this to my amazon wish list! It sure pulls a lot less than my "portable" 8000BTU unit! Thanks for the video, and an extra thanks for including a link for the unit!

    If RV manufacturers insulated ceilings much better, we would stay much cooler on less power usage.
    I know it takes up space but it can make a huge difference.

    Great video! I have noticed with my 25 foot motor home if I open a ceiling vent for 10 minutes will help speed up cool down. It lets out the hottest air instead of cooling it.

    I put a 9k Pioneer in my '28 RV.. I wish I bought the 12k. I'm gonna be upgrading it so a EG4 HYBRID 12k in the next couple of months. I have shore power and also a solar system that will handle it. Good review\test.

      Interesting my 9k is plenty for my 20ft trailer, I would have thought it would work well for a larger one too! If you have multiple rooms or walls I can see how that would hinder it. Best of luck with the EG4, I’ve heard great things about it! Thanks for watching :)

    Nice!! Are you going to sell and install those little mini-splits?? lol They would be in high demand. All I hear on the Forest river forums is how noisy the OEM A/C is. Do you have condensate from outside and inside units? I noticed you "OVEN" humidity was 30% and just went up to 35% when the temps came down.

    • @theconnectedcamper

      The condensate primarily comes from the inside unit and drains out below the trailer. I wouldn’t mind helping someone install a mini split in a house, but a trailer is tough! Getting that line set where you need it to go without kinking and having it look tidy at the end is by far the hardest part! Thanks for watching :)

    Thanks for this video. I've been planning a mini-split upgrade and my brother and I were just discussing this exact topic yesterday. I hate the AC in my camper. Have you done any measurements on how much energy it takes to maintain that temperature during the day time?

    • @theconnectedcamper
      @theconnectedcamper  Рік тому +1

      When running not in turbo mode and maintaining temp, it will fall down as low as 300w but more typically is around 400-500w when it has to work a little bit. Thanks for watching :)

    If its cold outside this is not accurate. Didnt you run the heater to get it there? Just turning the furnace off would do a lot.

      It was 90 degrees this day. It got to that temp on its own.

    How did you remove all that roof a/c Caulk without damaging the roof? thanks in advance. I greatly appreciate you sharing all this info 😊

      As crazy as it sounds, my unit had no caulk on it, just a foam layer that didn’t leak at all. I was very shocked. My tv antenna had tons of caulk that was difficult to get up, but going slowly with a putty knife just scraping did the trick. Thanks for watching :)
