her saying that starwars saved her just shows how she has no moral compass and is completely fine lying through her teeth to deceive customers. starwars did not save her life. she'd never even cared enough about the franchise to ever watch it before she saw an opportunity to exploit something for fame and fortune.
The Acolyte's second season isn't "cancelled." Never forget that this is their DEI flagship project. Disney has dug their DEI hole so deep they can't get out. When stating that there are more mysteries to explain for a season 2, she's just referring to the plot holes that she hadn't realized until people started pointing them out to her.
The only thing I do agree with headland about is when she says you need to put everything into your first season because you dont know what will happen. Granted her 1st season is trash but the point still stands. Take Stranger Things and Wednesday. The makers of those two shows had no expectations of success. Heck the show runners for Wednesday were just happy they even got the opportunity so they set out to make the best show they could completely unsure theyd get a second season. Both shows blew up and both shows creators were not only pleasantly surprised but thankful and dare I say it GRATEFUL to the viewers. They not only thank the fans regularly but took on the criticisms and adjusted future seasons. Something Disney is apparently averse to.
In terms of storytelling it always seems more satisfying to have a grand plan that gets executed with setups and payoffs, sometimes without that it can feel like extra story gets stitched on with very obvious seams. However when it comes to big media projects where funding may get withdrawn, having those plot threads either hastily wrapped up or left dangling can seem very unsatisfying if you actually enjoyed the story. Not sure what the best approach is tbh.
So, season one is a "complete" season? Eight half-hour episodes? That's not a season, that's a tiny mini-series. That's a two part movie of the week. And they spent $180M for this garbage? Is this a joke?
If the second season isn't greenlit then neither is Headland's planned New Republic movie trilogy and that means bye, bye Stenberg which will come as a shock to no one. Both of them are dead weight for Disney at this point. Also, don't take it to the bank that the new Rey movie will even get made. Its obviously been put on the backburner pending performance of ongoing projects.
She has four or five mysteries to explore in season two? First mystery, why Kathleen is still employed, second how this show got made, three how I ever got hired at Lucas studios, four why we didn’t hire twins to portray twins in a series, five why Lucas studios doesn’t have any writers, directors, producers, actors or actresses.
I will agree there put everything you can into your project because it takes more than ideas to create a story. Whether this gets a season two or not all the numbers would say it probably won't between cost, over reception that even critics that aren't bashing it, still say it isn't great, and will this mess any future plans if it doesn't continue, probably not.

In a first season, you're supposed to show what you're able to do and it should be self-contained... But you're not supposed to throw "everything you have" in there. For "The Acolyte", I feel like the first season should've been a slow burn towards the assassination of Master Indara, letting us know who everyone is and letting us get attached or hate the main characters. I think what would've work would've been for Indara to have been sent to Ueda to negotiate with some of the witches that would've survived (adding a plotline where the witches had started to radicalize, like the Night Sisters, slowly taking control of the planet). Then, I would've started to kill off Indara's friends, one by one and Indara, unable to solve the murders (or sensing the use of the Dark Side), would've called the Jedi Temple for help, bringing the other Jedi. In parallel, I would've made it known that the Witches were blaming the Jedi for the massacre that happened 16 years earlier, making it so Indara would've realized that the story the witches were telling her was very different from the story she got from the Jedi. I would've made it a shock-reveal that the extra Jedi sent to Ueda were the same ones who were present during the massacre. Once the Jedi arrive, THEN I would've had Indara be murdered in a scene that doesn't let us know who the killer is (before that, I would've let the audience see Mae murder Indara's friends... I would even have given Indara a young padawan and have THAT padawan be killed by Mae, which would've made so much more sense than Mae killing off a Jedi master like that)... Then, I would end that first season there or this would be the half-point and the finale would've been to show us "the twins". ... I think the show was made like this because this is THE BEST Leslie Headland could come up with. Honestly, there's no excuse for this. Old episodes of show like "Murder She Wrote" have more interesting stories than this.
But there are loads of great Star Wars shows now. Mandalorian, Rebels, Bad Batch. Acolyte is not the best, but the negativity seems absurd and has been since before the show was even released.

It is odd. You have to be both a bit of a realist and yet secure to say that, which is probably a typical Disney exec these days. The insecurity is coming though; can't keep losing money.
Given how much modern hollywood spends these days. Ill be they were green lit for season two, they asked for a stupid amount of money and they got it, with zero pushback and full confidence. They pissed it all away, immediately on consulting, didnt get a single second of work actually done. Then went back to ask for money. Which they again, got. But this time, the money is nervous. This time. They ask questions. Acolyte season one rumbling has begun and its not good. They eat all the money again, get no work done again. The Acolyte season starts its release cycle. Still no work done. Money all gone. They ask for more. The meeting is delayed. Now that episode five is out. They cant get a call back. Theyre nervous now and should be. By the time the last episode airs. We will know that season two is dead. Definitely before christmas. The modern audience once again. Did not show up.
Please give her another season to completely destroy this Disney fan fiction and make it beyond any doubt for everyone absolutely no one likes KKs or Headlands version of Disney Star Wars to never ever be repeated again in history of entertainment.
I don't think they give a shit how much everyone will hate them and KK or how much money they burn or spend and how much they demonize the fan base or how much they ruin Star Wars even more so then they've already ruined it. They still make as many seasons as they can, they'll still loose all that money and not make any back, they'll still demonize the fans, and they'll still all be universally hated. None of that is gonna stop them ever and I don't think there's anyone in the world that can stop them, not even George if he wanted to.
I fully believe that season two is under way because season one is a queer work of art that male-presenting brains read as Queer, and - like ‘Velma’ - the -ists and -phobes obviously need more re-education. Kennedy hates the fans, so she’ll sign off on five seasons and blame ‘Dave’ if it backfires, not that any backfires have ever affected her so far.
Lesley Headland: Harvey Weinstein's Former Personal Assistant, is based? Yeah, and I'm the reincarnation of Archduke Franz Ferdinand. Whatever she used to be, she isn't anymore.
Who knows with Disney. This promise they made about focusing on quality and moving away from quantity just didn't sit well with me. Reason being they have no idea what quality in the eyes of their audience is. Disney's idea of quality is increasing the budgets on shows they feel best suit their DEI agenda. They are blind to the fact their version of DEI is the problem. They have no idea how to produce content their audience really wants to watch. So we will continue getting crap but expensive Star Wars, crap but expensive Marvel, and crap but expensive Walt Disney pictures. Wouldn't be surprised one bit if they double down on the Acolyte.
If kind of reminds me of that Dennis the Menace-episode of the Simpsons where a bitter and angry George Bush Sr. is writing his memoirs and is trying to cover up the fact that he didn’t get re-elected by writing something like ”..and since I already had acomplished all my goals in one term, there was no need for a second!”
Andor was supposed to run like 5 seasons or something but was reduced to 2 because I think Tony Gilroy didn't want to keep doing Star Wars for such a long time. And this was decided before the first season even aired.
With The Boys winding up their series soon, and Fallout doing great and forging ahead for season 2, anything related to Dr Who or Star Wars will be stillborn. Disney will continue the downward spiral until the stockholders FINALLY vote Iger and others out and do a major restructure.
Headland HAS to be faking the woke at this point. What she described is PRECISELY how just about EVERY TV series was made up until Babylon 5. And even though JMS had a five year plan, he wrapped up each of the first three seasons to double as a series finale. Then, when TNT announced it was dropping all of its superhero and sci-fi shows, he combined seasons four and five and used the season 5 finale to wrap up season 4 so there was closure to all (obvious) major plot threads. And when the show was picked up by another network, he used his notes to create season 5 and wrap everything up just as he originally wanted. The problem is, ONLY someone of JMS's calibre can pull something like that off, and it required him to write 2,000 years of history, with the show itself happening right in the middle. But suddenkly every one wanted to copy him and they all half-assed it. Here, Headland's openly telling everyone how great TV is made. So if she knows the secret to success, why is she self-sabotaging the show so badly? The ONLY explanation is that she's putting on an act out of fear that she'd get blacklisted if she tried to make based shows, despite that being what viewers actually want. And she's leaning into being homosexual and giving her wife a role simply because it gives her points in the game. I'm almost curious to see now what would happen if the East Coast film industry gave her a shot at a series. Unlike Hollywoke, most EC companies are based, faith-based, or otherwise reject woke politics. There are a few exceptions, but not many. So would she continue making trash? Or would she suddenly make quality content using what she knows of proper silver screen filmmaking?
lh failed to create anything that people want to watch because of bad writing, character development, plot holes, plot armor, bad lighting. this was a high school level production. and I can't believe that 180 mill was spent on it. the woke agenda was also a major problem with it.
Don't they plan the shows and movies years in advance. I wouldn't trust rumors. If you believed all the rumors KK has been fired a hundred times and sparrow said the Acolyte was a promo reel and not going to happen, lol. It's like all the wishful thinking lately about the Rey movie being cancelled. What else did I forget, the fake Lucasfilm civil war which never existed, oh and the people who said Favreau and Filoni would save Star Wars.
Way too many powerful bad guys...killing off all the good. Too old to wait for Season 2. Have no desire to know how the very bad guys develop and came to be so powerful. Then the bad twin gets on the ship. I'm done. Too depressing.
All I can say is story trumps the message people want to watch an interesting story and if you can sneak a message in without tainting the story, good on you. However, making the message the priority ... well not interested, hope Disney sells the franchise soon, as they have not done well with it, would rather watch Christmas Special (which I absolutely wont) over Disney Star Wars.
She just changed agents. Is it customary to do that when you score a huge LF project during a time when Disney locked out all submissions of new projects across all of Disney? I mean her original agents had to be good to make that happen. Season 2 isn’t locked down and she switched agents seems very bad news.
I think Disney she keep creating whatever they want. She , Leslie put her work out there and was paid well. Props to Disney paying creators well. Directors. Hope they are paying actors and staff well too.

Well, mission accomplished then.
The definitely showed what they
can do 😑
Was so depressing to watch.
nothing matters until KK is fired
she will be replaced by one just like her
But there are loads of great Star Wars shows now. Mandalorian, Rebels, Bad Batch. Acolyte is not the best, but the negativity seems absurd and has been since before the show was even released.
@@Fatpie42 mandalorian is the only commercial success. the budgets have been so huge for these that they can turn a profit. The merchandise isn't selling along with marketing fees these shows are losing. plus she tanked Indiana Jones and willow. she tanked willow so bad that it was scrubbed from Disney+ written off as a tax write off
or passed away
The Acolyte has about the same chance of a second season as Ryan Johnson getting his own Trilogy.
She really isn't a writer, I don't know who told her she is.
Even though I hated The Last Jedi I know how to spell the guys name when bashing him…
@@ericmorneau7758 He probably spends more time thinking about Ryan Kinel now.
@@paulmurgatroyd6372 Her wife I guess.
@@lesigh1749 I thought that was her husband.
Nevermind the writing trainwreck that is Acolyte...
How did Andor look so amazing, while Acolyte looks amateur side by side? ...for $180 million!
Andor was crap too
All the Star Wars shows are rubbish
Comparing this to Breaking Bad, which was a great show, is ridiculous. This show was horse$h17!
😂😂 they did ??
@@EMDRONES kinda yeah lol she used it as an example but the audacity to even bring up breaking bad in the same sentence is hilarious she CLEARLY think's an awful lot of herself... what a talent.
A sure sign that they shouldn't be talking about entertainment media in a public setting, let alone be being paid to do so. 🤔
Complete & utter.
did she just compare herself to Vince Gilligan?
She compared the Acolyte to Gilligan's Island?
I need to know what she put into the first season as I can't understand who the hell this is 8 episodes, Everything is known by episode 5 LOL. Diseny Star Wars is such a joke.
I've never heard a showrunner say they didn't think a second season of their project was a good idea.
It is odd. You have to be both a bit of a realist and yet secure to say that, which is probably a typical Disney exec these days. The insecurity is coming though; can't keep losing money.
Disney only fails upward so expect a second season or sequel for all the garbage messages like this, She Hulk, and others.
They need to cancel it and continue Andor!
Season 2 of Andor is planned.
could you imagine comparing this to breaking bad, headland you need to sort out your huge bloody ego.
That’s impossible. The Acolyte has the best viewership numbers of all time and, apart from a few anonymous trolls online, is universally beloved.
14% audience score and 3.4/10 on IMDB says otherwise
@@normaluser333I think he’s being facetious
😆🤣😂 GOOD ONE !! 🤣😅😆
No, it's way too depressing, dark. No hope for this mistake. I liked the first episode but became disillusioned quickly.
Please give her another season to completely destroy this Disney fan fiction and make it beyond any doubt for everyone absolutely no one likes KKs or Headlands version of Disney Star Wars to never ever be repeated again in history of entertainment.
Please don't .. i can only watch a trainwreck happen for so long.
@@ericzommer5581 You do know you dont have to be on site for every trainwreck?
Doctor Who News Doctor Who Crossover With Star Trek Strange New Worlds Could Happen Said Russell T Davies. Now RTD Wants To Kill Star Trek lol
Guarantee after all that this ends on a cliff hanger.
What are you talking about? I've canceled the first season, I refuse to believe it even exists 😂😂
Honestly why would this show get a second season it’s considered the worst SW show of all time.
What dose Based mean ? Never heard that expression Is it only me ?
I find it sad that Leslye's "Everything" is such total trash.
Andor was supposed to run like 5 seasons or something but was reduced to 2 because I think Tony Gilroy didn't want to keep doing Star Wars for such a long time. And this was decided before the first season even aired.
Official or Rumor?
With The Boys winding up their series soon, and Fallout doing great and forging ahead for season 2, anything related to Dr Who or Star Wars will be stillborn. Disney will continue the downward spiral until the stockholders FINALLY vote Iger and others out and do a major restructure.
Even within these comments people are calling for Andor season two. Also there's a Mandalorian movie coming. Star Wars isn't done.
@@Watson480 Nah, even supermarket pizzas have more taste than this show.
lh failed to create anything that people want to watch because of bad writing, character development, plot holes, plot armor, bad lighting. this was a high school level production. and I can't believe that 180 mill was spent on it.
the woke agenda was also a major problem with it.
Disney is wishing they had someone they could go to for a refund of this $180 million+ disaster.
It's doubling down time says disney. Second season probably coming like asoka.
666th like, and…like Order 66 AND Ki-Adi-Mundi, this show has been taken out of our miseries. Behold the power of one and done.
You mean they didn't give Hedland a guaranteed season 2? That seems to be the normal TV contract nowadays, forcing the studios to pay for two seasons even if the first season fails?
They can’t stop they will threaten another season eventually and idiot investors will give them money
Noooo! I Won't Listen! Disney has been putting bread on the table of many youtubers for years now, don't say the good times are over.
It’ll sit on a shelf somewhere, next to She Hulk 2 Willow 2 and Captain Marvel 3
If it does get cancelled I will be so happy it means maybe we get no more crap Star Wars series but I am not holding up much hope of that.
It may not be greenlit but they will NEVER admit that a second season isn't coming.
so if a series gets cancelled, does the canon it introduced get cancelled too. this is a concern.
It should have never been approved in the first place based on the cost alone. No way that it would ever be profitable
Best crack ive had with star wars since Disney took it over. I was pissed after the last brain dead trilogy but now its just hilarious. Star Wars is completely destroyed and dead to me. But thanks for the laughs anyway Disney.
