Be careful with your health my friend. Think I was about your age when i almost died from a lung infection backpacking in Europe. Spent two week in the hospital. Switzerland is so gorgeous. Happy anniversary, you and miss T make a lovely couple. Great video like always.
I really love to see your videos. Amazing stuff you post there. Making your way away from the chaotic world to enjoy the beauty of nature with yourself. Keep it up bro.
Hiya Paddy. Always love your intros. Stunning. Gorgeous views on your hike. Respect you for all the different camera angles. Especially when you are feeling unwell. Your backpack looks the perfect size. The clouds make it look all very mystical. The gentleman that passed you. With his walking sticks looked fit. I bet the air smelt and felt amazing. I know you love to do these things by yourself. But I bet it did feel eerie at times. I would worry I would get lost. Especially all the clouds. Switzerland is very expensive. Lovely room. Love it had a spa. Amazing views. I hope the weather got better for you. Thank you for taking us along. Always a next-level adventure. Wishing you a wonderful week.
For people watching this video and wanting to visit Wengen, most of the tourist go to the small church, the view is good from there but the most beatiful view is just a few minutes from the church. You just have to take right before the church and walk 8 min to the Moenchblick, it's the most beautiful view of Wengen and it's not as crowded as the church.
Very nice continuation of the Switzerland travel series. I hope the weather did clear out for you as Lauterbrunnen Valley looks amazing. I did take shot of it from pretty much every viewpoint, every season and time of the day and I still keep returning there. Looking forward to next episodes.
Ah, the cows! Switzerland is so magical for its combination of natural beauty, charming architecture, delicious food, and, perhaps above all, their adoration of their cows! Have you seen them dressed up and parading around yet??
I really enjoyed your latest adventurer in Switzerland. It makes me want to jump on a plane and join you. I hope you don't get too sick, with all of that rainy weather.
Clouds.... When I made my first trip to the Pacific Northwest, I didn't get to see one single mountain. Thankfully the last time I visited Seattle I did get to see Mount Rainier - but there was still so much snow that the trails I wanted to hike were closed. I try to keep a positive attitude though and remind myself that there is always the next time.... Clouds, be gone! 😁
Paddy, sorry your hike started with being sick, get well, my friend. I'm sure you'll have sunny days and healthier times ahead, so keep positive. This scenery was EPIC, regardless. When I was 9000-feet high in the Alps, in Pinswang and then Reutte, Austria, I named the mist as "Magic Mist," because it was magical to see it 'roll over' and down the tops of the jagged Alps snow covered peaks. I'm sure you'll still have days like this start, but also have some incredible crystal clear Alpine mountain air and sunny illness-free days as well. Jägermeister has many healing properties, so have just a bit (lol) each day to 'recover' from any of the ills you encounter. 😊 Stay Healthy, Happy and Safe, my friend.
Wonderful and magnificent views Paddy D. it's just awesome to follow your journey. I'm sorry you caught a cold, but you did your best - no stress in this state! taking the train for the first part and relax in the warm Comfi-Spa, will hopefully save energy and strengthen your health and your power will come back. It has been a great journey so far.Thank you !❤🙏
Don't feel too bad, you will have beautiful days. I rented a motorcycle for 2 weeks & was riding over Grossglockner in clouds & light snow. All I could see were the tail lights of the bus I was following & the snow that was landing on my gas tank. No fun. Next day was beautiful & the views were stunning. Hang in there, will all be worth it in the long run.
I've been in the White Mountains of New Hampshire for the last four days. Of course the scale and magnificence of the Alps makes the NH Mountains seem like simple little hills, as beautiful as they are, but can not compare in scale. Until today, the weather here has been raining sometimes very heavily. So sight seeing has been limited but hiking by the local rivers has been spectacular with all the water in the rivers and over the rocks. I guess one could not happen without the other so I will take the blessing where I can get it! I know you do the same Mate so thanks for bring us along and the very valuable tips!
John, not sure where you are now, but NH White Mountains aren't Alps-like. You need to travel North, up to Vermont, specifically Stowe, VT. It's where the von Trapp family settled, and some of their offspring still have/run a resort there (Trapp Family Lodge) that is by far, extremely beautiful (even after fire ruined original Lodge in 1980) (a wee bit expensive) but def. worth a visit. Their Tea Room, (now a Lounge/Giftshop is where Maria (prior to her passing in 1987) and then Leisl (sp.) frequently spoke w/guests. I met Maria von Trapp in the Tea Room in 1978. The main reason Werner and Maria von Trapp chose to settle in Stowe, Vermont, is that it was most like the Alps to them, being from Austria and the Alps.
You are absolutely right that the White Mountains are nothing like the Alps. I did not mean to make such a comparison just a passing reference. Just trying to put this in context and bring my current experience into Paddy's current Vlog. I lived in Vermont for a few years and in Switzerland both Geneva and Zurich for work for a few years too.
I never hear that but love it! “Bad weather, the under weather all together !” I wish you speedy recovery. You can get coughing drops Ricola 😉 and c vitamins in the Coop or migros . PS: the cows will not coming to you because there is a low voltage in the fences keep them away from escaping.
Great video. You’re in my favorite part of Switzerland, but glad you’re moving away from the crowds. The typical tourist spots can be maddening with them and usually just 10 minutes away is quiet, pristine beauty. Unfortunately the beauty of the mountains makes them vulnerable to changing weather as you know. A couple of years ago on a particularly rainy trip I was a bit chagrined because of the clouds whilst hiking to the Oeschinensee, knowing that I was missing extraordinary vistas. But I started focusing on the little things-the wisps of clouds, wildflowers peeking through, even water droplets on said wildflowers and it changed my whole perspective. You caught some beautiful shots you wouldn’t have had if it weren’t cloudy. As I watched I was walking on my treadmill getting ready for my trip back in just 40 days. Thanks for taking me along-I just pretended I was walking with you 😊
You are such a trooper, Paddy. To stay on schedule despite being sick and the bad weather...shows your passion for what you do. And we viewers and subscribers get to benefit from it! Thank you! 😊⛰️🇨🇭
A difficult start to your hiking trip but in the end well worth it. Just to get away from the crowd, be in the nature, listen to the cow bells (a not the ones on the train at Zurich airport lol). I am sure it will get even better from here.
Back in 1987 with my German girlfriend - we visited Wengen by train. (Wengen has an international ski competition in every winter). We stayed in Lauterbrunnen in the valley bottom in a large 2 bedroom family tent with EuroCamp. It was amazing seeing the waterfall and the sheer majesty of the mountains. Best wishes from Bangkok. Missing Thai food yet?

I’ve been following you for a while now. Don’t get offended but your Switzerland episodes has been very boring. I really don’t find the stuff that you do, say, or where you go really that interesting. Not quite your Bali or Philippines adventures where you discover new things or talk about your bad or good experiences that are worth listening to. Sorry, Paddy - but if you’re sick with a fever, going on train and being in public without a mask is kinda sucky for others 😢
I guess you should have made all Swiss episodes into one. I thought you’d do great but not this time. Hope you get your mojo back.
Don’t get offended, but….. lol 😂
Sucks that you pay that much to get sick. Too bad you cannot sue the hostel. Something sinister about the people in Switzerland.
A bit depressing this video, sick cheating on the train weres the bulldog sprite get on with it
This is magical❤ to the beautiful view from Alphs to the peak.
Paddy I love your contents usually, but sorry I really don't like that series... I cannot watch it.
Speak for yourself. I'd move to Switzerland! Absolutely stunningly beautiful.
