To me I’m just riding it until the battery shits and then I may look for a slightly newer Toyota used. To be honest I haven’t replaced the spark plugs since I bought it. I’m replacing them today after watching the spark plug episode yesterday. I got the premium plugs cause that’s what was in the car. My mechanic couldn’t believe it. He’s like u haven’t replaced any spark plugs ? Idk to me if it’s running fine don’t mess with it. The average fuel consumption over that period is equivalent to 61.5mpg with a near 50-50 split of in-town and out-of-town driving (where obviously the out-of-town required gas). I love the acceleration and I've even grown to enjoy the quirkiness of the poorly tuned suspension and torque steer at high power. Mostly, though, I love the power. Overtaking on a hill? No problemo! This car is insanely zippy which for me is a big plus as I'm used to driving 2 seat, mid-engine sports car - by contrast I found the Honda Pilot to be annoyingly slow and dreary to drive. So overall very happy with purchase - this vehicle is a great transition from gas to electric. I expect the range/recharging issues will be fixed in electric cars over the next 5 to 10 years, but until then... this is the car for me!

Makes a lot of sense as a transitional vehicle to electric. In Chicago I'd never use the gas, even if I lived up to about 20 miles out in the burbs instead of the city itself. Run on gas for out of town trips where the still-slow pace of charging gets in your way. Enjoy the towing which is much better on this than a standard RAV4. And Scotty notes the traction issue on this; it probably needs bigger brakes and definitely better tires.

A great car in general (this is our 3rd Rav4) and you get some of the benefits of an EV (quiet, torque, fuel efficiency) without any concerns with having to plan when, where and how to charge. You can drive on gas, drive on electric, charge while running on gas or charge at home. There is no way I would by an EV given the current situation with charging times and charging stations. When those issues are solved in ten years I'll rethink the situation if I'm still around.

I think Toyota's made a brilliant move with the RAV4 Prime; a lot of states and provinces have incentives that make it an affordable option, and for general inter-city commuting, a lot of folks could easily do that on the batteries. Should be interesting to see how they influence things in the next 5 years or so.

Look, you can't just drive in EV mode all the time. Any Toyota mechanic will tell you this. The car must be driven in combo mode to save the battery and the gasoline from "spoiling". Yes, gasoline will spoil! Lastly, you can't recharge the battery every night or it will degrade over time. It must be charged intermittently and not "overcharged". That is, it must be turned off (unplugged) after about 6 hours. Just search UA-cam for the "The Car Car Nut" and he will explain how to charge/take car of Toyota hybrid and Prime RAV4s in one of his informative videos.

And as he said, the car has more horsepower but it is basically a front wheel drive car. The rav 4 adventure has a little less than 2000 more pounds of towing capacity which comes in handy for me. Prime only has about 1700 pounds of towing which is really nothing different than the 2018 rav 4 le. So one thing I like is the different options that Toyota provides with the models people already love. I absolutely love the rav 4 line up and when I had the money, I traded my rav 4 le 2018 for the 2021 adventure. Very happy with it too. It has about 30-40 more horsepower than my LE and far more towing capacity. I know it sounds dumb to toe with a rav 4 but the rav 4 is my daily driver and once in a while I do have to tow something like a tool box or even a small camper.

I just paid 5k over list. And I was told I'm doing well. A really fun and practical car

    I had 2000 Rave 4
    It was best car.
    I lost it in a crash 2009.
    Now I have 2007 Carry.
    Still A Great Car.
