I'm American, know absolutely no Russian except for a few of these songs, but 100% this is better then the English version. Actually, every single one of Tatu's songs, while great in English, are so much more amazing in Russian.

This song got me through some tough times in middle school. 6th grade to be exact. When I first clicked on a video of this song, my mom called me from the hospital and told me my sister and her 2 year old had only 48 hours to live after getting in a horrible car accident back in 08. Not sure why clicked on this video after I heard that news, but it popped up on my UA-cam recommendations and it always kept me strong and I knew my sister and niece would be fine. My aunt was watching me at home and let me play on the computer at home until bed time and I played this song every second with head phones in everyday ever since and sing along to it on the top of my lungs in Russian.
They’re fine today and very healthy and my sister has a successful business and my baby niece is on her way to a basketball scholarship. I listen to this song and I’m reminded why I love to learn Russian and Russian music. I adore my family no matter what and I always think of them even with the most “oddest” comparisons. I often create songs on my keyboard that remind me of tatu songs. Idk why and how, but it found me and comforted my soul. Everyone thinks I am weird for being a black woman learning Russian and Russian music/culture, but I’ll never forgot my mother’s words that day and how terrified I was. This song gave me hope and strength. The pronunciations of the Russian words explained my heart as cheesy as it sounds lol. I hope to one day be fluent and teach others and warm their hearts! Thanks Tatu!!!

Well Russian is a pretty cool language after all! I can't even read the cyrilic scripts but sounds an interesting language though I think! Is it hard to learn ??

nidhal hamrit it depends, for example which nationality do you belong to or which languages do you speak? it's far from English, English is the sandbox of learning languages. Russian's difficult if you compare to it. but it's easier than German. I'm learning German at the sam time I learn Russian, and Russian is much more easier, but, it's such a challenge, yet. give it a try, maybe you get like to it :) never give up fighting to achieve it. the alphabet's crazy, but after the first some steps you knock your foot into (its inflexion's such a thing), you get to like it :) bring it on!

Well i am Slavic and my language is the only cyrillic that is the closest to Russian in the whole world since i am Bulgarian.(Just like Spain and Italy are close a lot by many things by language too) The alphabet is 98% the same as ours and many of their words are like ours and even when our countries try to communicate we have never had problems to understand one another even if we dont talk the same language.Yes it is very hard to learn even if you are Slavic and i know because i study it and its even hard for us ! But being a Slavic definitely boosts your head start when you try to learn the language for the first time : ) Россия братья навек !!!

it comes from Latin. it's got 7 cases which is kinda complicated. good thing for us is that a lot of languages have got a lot of Latin loanwords. makes things easier. I wanna try and learn it too, but it's gonna take a long time. slavic languages hold a lot

no problem for us, from Bulgaria, russian is similar to bulgarian :) and we have a lot of russian words in our everyday language,we all are in slavic group

Russian here. You are right at all. But... it's more than slavic group! Russians and Bulgarians have so much common words from church-slavic and mutual loan-words in the 19-th century after russian-turkish war. I hope, I helped you :) Но да, мы славяне и этого у нас не отнять!

Does this translate into the same lyrics as the English version? I know sometimes some people do songs in a different language and make some translations completely different.

I don't think it matters the langue a song is in. What matters is the sound and no matter what they are speaking in you can understand a good singer through the inflictions of their voice. A song is emotions painted into sound.

like I said, comes from latin =) I noticed how similar the speaking is as well. I've been in slovakia for a day, sounded russian to me. then I spent a week in czech republic, much similar as well. it's more complicated for me since I'm dutch =P
