During 1971-72, Some constitutional amendments took place as a result of which kerala Land Reform Act is added in the 9th Schedule.
These were challenged in this case.

After Independence all the states were busy in improving their social & economic conditions.
Economic equality was not proper.
As only few people used to have resources and production of means, which was not correct.
All states started changing their existing laws.
