I have a captive bred rough green snake too, named Snivy, and she acts a lot like Negi! When I handle her she stretches up to my face and does tongue flicks at my nose. She will also go up my sleeve and turn around to peek out with just her head poking out. The key to handling these snakes, for people who don't know, is to let them feel like they are in control. They hate being grabbed. You want to pretend your hands are limbs for them to wrap around. If you are relaxed, they will be too. Just like in this video! I also feed my girl after every handling, so she has learned to start hunting when I put her away, even before I put the bugs in :)
I had a few snakes. A ball python, a children's python,a green tree python , a carpet python, and a rosy boa.(also a sidewinder) I miss my rosy . He was silver and red orange. He would do a "snake dance" when I took him out in the sun. Awesome channel.
@@trevorrobles2535 very easy. Mine are doing amazing put of you get 2 and get them at different times quarentine them because desiese spreads fast for them also make sure to be careful when handling because they can be very fast and slippery until you gain their trust. I would highly recomend them!
Thank you! This is a Zoo Med Paludarium, 30x30x60cm. Negi has outgrown this enclosure though - it's a bit small for an adult rough green snake. I'm currently editing a new setup video which will be up on my channel very soon. 🙂
Is yours wild caught or captive bred? I just got one earlier today, so here I am on a youtube binge watching vids of rough green snakes until she’s gotten more used to her new home haha
That’s awesome! Yours seems so friendly and social! I got a wild caught, but I was delightfully surprised when I found that she was quite comfortable with being handled after about a half minute of frantic squirming. She mellowed out quite a bit and was happy getting herself tied up in knots in my hand hahaha
I've never tried feeding Negi fish, and it's not mentioned in any of the care guides I've read, so probably not! Rough Green snakes liked a varied diet of soft-bodied insects, not solely crickets.
I alternate between feeding moths, silkworms and small locusts. I also keep small crickets on hand in case I run out of the other things, but he's not a huge fan of them.
@@JiggyPepper1 I have one, too. Unfortunately it was wild caught but eats sooooo well. I had heard that they could be more intermediate snakes but it is my first snake and super easy to care for. Good luck.
Brody Penn Hi from Mexico, Brody! I just got one (arrives next Week) but i can’t find a lot of information here! I would love to buy everything before she arrives at home: Can you please help with info like: 1) how mane days eat 2) The perfect tank for Her 3) requirements for her tank Ill appreciate it!
Graciel Montañez Mine comes out and hunts when hungry so I can tell when but I would say feed about 2-3 a couple times a week. The tank can be a 20 gallon long flipped on it’s side because they like to climb up so anything tall is fine. I have an 18x18x24 which is perfect. You need a basking area of about 90 degrees and an over of about 75-80 so I have 75 watt gear bulbs. You need a hide and *LOTS* of greenery so they can hide because the live to hide and shrubs and bushes so lots of greenery is vital. Also you need a uvb bulb to help digest crickets because they have hard-ish outer shells. That’s the important stuff good luck. 👍🏻
What a beautiful animal! Please can u do a complete care guide for the green snake
Such an adorable snake!
Yeah I'm trying to get one but they're are so hard to find

Thank you for your comment! This is great advice, and Snivy sounds like a sweetie. Negi likes to wrap himself around my glasses. 😆
I think it’s cool how you try to heart and reply to all the comments
Thank you! I love to see comments and chat with my viewers, it's half the fun of making the videos. 😊

I found one in my shop today

He is captive bred. :)

Where did you get her? I am interested in getting some captive bred.
I got her at the Hamm reptile expo, from a German breeder called Dragonzoo.
@@CuriousCreatures thank you =}
do they eat cut tilapia fish too or just crickets?

What do you feed yours weekly?
I alternate between feeding moths, silkworms and small locusts. I also keep small crickets on hand in case I run out of the other things, but he's not a huge fan of them.
What temperature is you enclosure
I keep his hot spot at around 28c during the day, and switch it off at night.
Do you also use a heat mat?
No heat mat, just a heat lamp & uvb.
What kind of UV light are you using? I'm looking into getting a pair of baby rough green snakes.
I'm using a Zoo Med 5.0 Mini Compact.
Thank you very much... And any info or tips that can help me with these little guys would be much appreciated..

Did u ever need to deworm em? As far as I understand, they're all wild caught.
Negi is captive-bred, born in Germany. So no deworming required. :)
How many gallons is that tank? Just curious.
I'm not sure exactly, it's a little bit smaller than 20 gallons - maybe around 15 gallons?
What size enclosure is that?
Where did you order your snake from?
Hi! I didn't order him, I bought him from a breeder called Dragonzoo while at a reptile expo in Germany.
