I have not read Idaho which is shameful as I live in Idaho. I absolutely love wrap-ups. Thank you!

Thank you! I am having a great time with it. I have seen some other landscape embroideries that I am tempted to start next!

Ha ha! MAKE BETTER CHOICES! This is actually how I've felt in a lot of romances (well, "love stories" is probably a better description...)

Yes! I struggle to find good love stories but occasionally there is one that just is amazing and sweet (I'm thinking something like TJ Klune) and then I can't find something that works again

Thank you so much! I am having so much fun I will almost be sad to finish it. I am running through embroidery floss so quickly that it is an expensive hobby 😅

I need to get Idaho from the library! Sounds very interesting.

I would love to know what you think of it! Some really heavy topics discussed but it was approached in an interesting way.

Idaho sounds excellent! Your impassioned rant made me throw up my hands and nod in agreement...I'm not a Romance fan in general. I can handle doses if it's secondary with something else, such as British Classics. I know which book I'm NOT reading! 😂 It would be difficult to focus on the other aspects of the story.

I find myself struggling with romance books. I really want to like them and I sometimes find myself in the mood for something light and romantic. Then I find that mood completely crushed by some of the tropes and dysfunction that shows up!

Idaho is definitely not a thriller. I hope you ended up loving the writing and characters. Your stitching is gorgeous!!! ❤

It was a really good book! Thank you for the recommendation! I think I thought there would be a thriller type element because the book started with an unknown crime that was slowly being revealed 😅

Your project is really coming together. Haven't heard of Lucky Turtle before. I do like the cover. Not so sure I would like the story though. Glad you liked Bright Ideas... I totally forgot about the boyfriend. I was more engaged in the mystery, I think. 😊💙

Thank you so much for the recommendation! The mystery was really engaging and satisfying. I think coming from the other "love story" it made me more sensitive to the relationship dynamics 😅

Ooh, I saw Lucky Turtle on Libby yesterday and was intrigued by the cover, but yikes glad to have the heads up.
Agree with what you said on Midnight at Bright Ideas, its fun and entertaining for a read, not very memorable and very frustrating choices.
For actual genre romances, Rebekah Weatherspoons series that starts with Rafe, is pure adults who actually have adult conversations directly and I love it for that. Jackie Lau has pretty reliably not bothered me on the miscommunication front as well.

Thank you for the recommendations! I don't read a ton of romances but sometimes I really appreciate one!

Omg. I’m mad on your behalf. I hate the age gap relationships. It icks me out.
Also, I feel you on not loving the reliance on miscommunication. I usually avoid for romance for that reason. One that I actually enjoyed this year was Before I Let Go by Kennedy Ryan. You might like that one a bit more. There is a bit of spice in it, but nothing crazy explicit.

Lovely tapestry! I'm wondering...how do you read so much with a project hovering on your mind? I currently have a crochet project going and don't know how to balance it with reading which I love equally. My entire free time goes to crocheting. How do you manage this?

I do most of my e-book reading while I am out and about and can't bring my project easily 😊At a park while my kids play, at their basketball practices, a few pages waiting in line, etc. I do a lot of audio book listening while I work on projects. I love nothing more than an engaging audiobook and a project (knitting has often been my go-to) to keep my mind focused on the book. Audio books and crafts work really well together for me! Mostly I have a hard time sitting still so I keep either an e-book or audio book (or both) going a lot of the time 😅

You are not being cynical, it's a weird relationship and how they didn't address what was wrong with it is beyond me. Probably won't pick it up.

I think age gaps are being romanticized way too much in books. No. It's gross🤢

    • @savagereads
      @savagereads  4 місяці тому +1

It can be really gross. I get that there are healthy relationships where there happens to be a difference in age but that never includes teenagers 🤢
