I’m 56, worn my hair ‘natural’ for 30 years, after teenage obsession with perm! Realised the ‘true type’ of my hair around age 20 - can you believe that! There were no advisors around then, just hot irons, curly perms and anything to hide or change our God given ‘fro. This video is great; I have subscribed.❤
Another tip is to use thread to stretch the hair, therefore you don't need alot of hair bands plus it's easier and REALLY stretches the hair no heat...
I really appreciate this tutorial. I hate using heat on my hair and I never felt that I could achieve the fro I'm hoping for without using it. Your method is simple and appears to give great results. Thank you for sharing!
Now THAT is the perfect Afro! I've been looking for a video of someone who shares the same length and hair texture as I. Thank you! Now if you would please upload a video of a twist out. 😉
Girl this gives me LIFE!! Can you do a video on cutting/shaping please... I wear my hair natural but if just isn't the right shape to pull this off as well as you!
I SAW A SHORT SNIPPET OF THIS VIDEO ON A FB PAGE....LAWDDDD!!! THAT FRO WAS GIVING ME LIFE!!! YASSSSS!!! 😍😍😍 BEAUTIFUL BLACK QUEEN! YOU WEAR YOUR CROWN 👑 WELL!
You are a rare breed. It's hard for good black men to find women genuinely real and pure as yourself. I thought you were only found in museums. Search me, contact me, I'm yours!
Goregous, I will definitely try this method but it's 2 o'clock in the morning and I work at 8:45 and have head of thick ass multi-textured/pattern hair that takes all day to dry. I should probably do a test run on this style before I walk out looking sideshow bob LOL
You should try African threading. My hair was bone straight with no heat whatsoever. I spritzed it to add kink to it and get a huge fro. It take a while to dry but I do mine on damp hair and it usually dries overnight. But if you do it on soaking hair it will take at least 2 days to dry.💁🏾
I've had crochet braids for the last couple of months (it's my annual "braid it up before I cut it off" crisis), but I'm definitely gonna try this when I take them down! I usually don't like how my hair looks and feels after blow drying it, but I will happily try your heatless method! Also, you are absolutely stunning!
Hi sista, I am trying to grow my daughters hair and it seems like your hair grew drastically. May I ask what you regimen is and the types of hair products used? - Thank you sis and God bless!
Thank you so much for this! Afros were always my favorite hairstyle ❤, I have long hair and I always wanted to attempt the Afro look but never once had a good go with it, until I stumbled acrossed this video, thanks love❤ I'm so happy with the results!
I just ordered the Jovi Shai. I have been rocking my fro now for going on the second week. The last time..2 years ago...I made the mistake of using a blow dryer. this time...I'm trying to use the right products. I am using Mizani co-wash and conditioners. I also use African Pride leave in conditioner. I like your fro because your texture reminds me of my own...so I decided to try the Jovi Shai. Looking forward to giving it a go. Any other suggestions?
I love your videos but I was wondering if you could do a video on how to do a braird out and a makeup tutorial because your make up is always on point👌🏾
I am a senior and don't want to cut off my natural hair, my length is about the length of yours and soft/fine with age. So I loved this style and will be trying it on the 4th of July..
I'm also going to show my mom this video, she's Cherokee and her hair grows into an Afro (we suspect she isn't pure Cherokee and might have some African ancestry) but she never knows how to style it or give it a good shape so this is a very helpful video.
Greetings, SUPER CUTE AFRO!!! Reminds me of my big afro from the '70s. Do you retwist nightly? How often do you moisturize and with what? How are your ends after being exposed? Do you find that people want to come up and touch your hair - without asking? 😃
DIANE JOHNSON thank you! 😊 And I do retwist nightly. I moisturize every other day with Jovi Shai Beauty's Shea Coconut Body Conditioner. My ends do get a little scraggly. I clip them every two to three months or so. And I guess it's my demeanor lol, but no one touches my hair without my permission.
@ericalishai thank you for the tutorial.l'm in the process of doing trying this. However l just wanted to know how you maintained the Afro when gong to sleep.
+Megan Only Thank you! I use Jovi Shai Beauty's Shea Coconut Body Conditioner. I normally apply some every night from root to tip, then comb and brush my hair. I braid into five braids just like in this video, and take it down in the morning. The link to purchase the Shea Coconut Body Conditioner is in the bio for this video :)
Do you take request? If so I was wondering if you could make a video about... .Making your hair not shrink when in the shower . Hair growth because I used to have SUPER long hair . ECO
I’m 67 and I have a big Afro and watching your video has given me a lot of help on how to maintain it properly. Thank you so much 😊

I grew up in the 1960s and 70s. I adore the Angela Davis Afro Look. I don't see too many sisters wearing them these days. I love it

This inspired me to go natural, our hair is too beautiful and magical to be hidden underneath wigs. Bless
Yeesssssssss! Natural Queens!

Mrs.Eazy-E yes Lol yes I recommend testing it out. It took me a while to get it right. My hair takes forever to dry too 😩
You should try African threading. My hair was bone straight with no heat whatsoever. I spritzed it to add kink to it and get a huge fro. It take a while to dry but I do mine on damp hair and it usually dries overnight. But if you do it on soaking hair it will take at least 2 days to dry.💁🏾

Ambassador of Black Don't Crack congregation. So young looking 💕💕💕
Awww thanks love!
Can you do a head wrap tutorial please?
Yes ma'am! I'll be adding that to my list 😊
if is a small fro im ok but when its long it just parts in the middle n flops.
You'll need to spray a bit of water in the middle so that it can shrink. That will fix the flop problem a little bit.
gorgeous
Thanks love! :)
Do you take request? If so I was wondering if you could make a video about...
.Making your hair not shrink when in the shower
. Hair growth because I used to have SUPER long hair
. ECO
Yes indeed! Thanks for the suggestions! As far as your hair not shrinking in the shower... I'll have to post it once I figure it out lol
Your hair won't shrink in the shower, if you cover your hair with a shower cap.
Banding is a great protective style
Thank you!
Perfect music!
Thank you for your tips
Our afros look the SAME!!! YAY FINALLY ❤❤❤
can you use hair threads/hair yarn instead of those small bands ?
Getrude Bosibori most definitely! I used bands because they're easy for me
I love seen a black woman with a afro in you through form.
