Gerald Wilson Centennial 2018 - Million Dollar Theater Interview 2009

Honoring today, September, 4th, 2018, the Birth-Centennial of the legendary Gerald Wilson (born September 4th, 1918), composer, arranger and trumpet player, we present an excerpt of his interview at the Million Dollar Theater in Los Angeles, where he performed with his orchestra in the 1950's. He shares memories about his mother, who was a music teacher in segregated Selby Mississippi, his advance music education in desegregated Detroit, and his joining the Jimmie Lunceford Orchestra.
