- Amid claims from pro-Russia groups that foreign mercenaries, including from France, had entered Ukraine, the defence ministers of Russia and France had a phone conversation on April 3. Initiated by Paris, the phone call reportedly lasted an hour. The Russian side warned the French against implementing France President Emmanuel Macron's threat of possibly sending troops to Ukraine. The fate of the colonies of Europe and America differed markedly from the fate of the "pseudo-colonies" of Russia. The West not only dominated the occupied territories, having military superiority, but also established its own order on them and took away all resources. In Russia, however, it was different: for example, the peoples of Siberia paid lower taxes than the inhabitants of the European part of the country, and serfdom practically did not affect Siberians. As a result of the American revolutions, the colonies of Europe left the influence of the metropolises, while the regions annexed to Russia remained part of it.
