All my ballast lamps have been done for years except for this one which was just waiting to find this explanation. Watched several times through and correlated every step with other vids. Worked like a charm! Thank you!

The video was very helpful, but one tip….The inside of the end caps can be taken off by inserting a screwdriver on the inside where the half moon shape is. Pry the tabs towards the outside.

I got it to work. On the power end I connected 1 outside wire to the hot wire 1 outside wire to the common wire and connected one inside wire to the hot wire and 1 inside wire to the common wire. I terminated all wires on the opposite side of the light. A led only needs power on 1 end. Thank you for your video, without it I would have had no clue. I have 10 of these lights all are now running LED'S

In regards to "outside and inside" wires, he was referring to the four wires that remain on the tombstones(the connector ends where the lights fit into), two on each. You don't have to do it the way he said, simply take the two left wires from each tombstone and connect them to the (hot) black wire. Take the two right wires from each tombstone and connect them to the (neutral) white wire. Done!
Lastly, (IF YOU BUY SINGLE-ENDED LED BULBS)there is no need whatsoever to take apart the opposite side of the shop light to remove the electronics. Simply cut all wires leading to that side, cap them, and tuck them away. The only purpose the tombstones serve on the far side is simply to hold the opposite end of the lightbulb in place by the connector pins.
REMEMBER, this process is ONLY for this manufacturer and is different when converting other shop lights with conventional ballasts.

Did this modification and it ONLY works with DUAL ENDED, ballast bypass LED tubes (Type B). Dual ended tubes have Line (L) on one end and Neutral (N) on the other.
This modification will NOT work with direct replacement (Type A) tubes, single ended ballast bypass tubes (Line and Neutral on same end, separate pins) or T8 fluorescent tubes (because the ballasts have been removed).
    Hope this clears things up.

You would up your ratings if you would rerecord the sound, and perhaps have some written comments to explain things.

I know this is old but I’ve been messing with this video all day so I owe it to the next victim:
Don’t do anything you see in this video. Simply twist all wires on one end of the fixture together and connect to the neutral wire coming from the cord.
Then twist all the wires at the cord end of the fixture together and connect with the hot (the black wire coming from the cord).
Could have saved myself hours. 😑
I tried two iterations before this one and neither worked, including his method in this video.

On corded endcap, the tombstone needs a black and white wire (paint or white tape one of the black wires to each tombstone. Connect power cord black to black wires and white to white wires. Simple... cut wires off opposite end and electrical tape them.

Did exactly as shown and wore noise cancelling blue tooth over ear headset to hear the narration.......lights go on but only very dimly. I copied every sept. Bummed now that I have to spend $20-30 per fixture installing T8 LED fixtures for all 12 of my 4ft shop lights. Absolutely devastated this didn't work but thank you for at least trying to help us out. If anyone has any suggestions then I am all ears as my wife and I really can't afford new fixtures.

Let me make this easy for everyone who owns these Lights of America Shop Lights. Simple instructions are as follows...
*This is when using SINGLE-ENDED LED BULBS ONLY!
    1. Turn off your power at the breaker!
    2. Disassemble the "power side" of the shop light housing as shown in the video.
    3. Cut all wires (two on each tombstone) from the electronics, leaving as much wire as possible coming from the tombstones. Discard the electronics, not needed.
    4. Connect the left wires from each tombstone to your black (hot) wire, and then connect the right wires from each tombstone to your white (neutral) wire. Use wire nuts and wrap each with electrical tape for good measure.
    5. Cut all remaining wires leading to/from the tombstones at the opposite end as they will only serve one purpose, which is to hold the new LED bulbs in place by the pins. There is no need to disassemble the housing on the other end or to remove the electronics as the wires have been cut and there is no power going to them.
    6. Restore power and enjoy your new LED lights.

Hey David. Sorry if this is a dumb question. I just copied exactly what this guy said in the video to the letter and the lights go on but super dim. I also don't know what "single-ended" means. The LEDs I bought have two pins at either end so am I to assume that those are not single-ended? Thanks for your help.

    • @alexreid4131

Figured out the single and double ended LED thing and I have single ended. I fixed up two different fixtures exactly as you described with 2 LED T8 tubes in each fixture and neither worked. Thanks for the info and I am sure you are correct but it did not work for me unfortunately :-(

    • @rla1000

If you're still getting feedback, thanks for posting this. But what "single ended LED bulbs?" I've since learned that "Type B" can be either double- or single-ended or both. I'd like to know who came up with such ambiguous nomenclature. I picked up some "Type B" LED tubes which are not even labeled "single" or "double" anywhere on the packaging. Nor is that information noted anywhere on the bulbs themselves after opening. There is an insert piece of paper that finally says "double." After rewiring (for what I think is single-end) I find this out about type B bulbs. The industry needs to clean up. Thanks.

As I now watch this for the umpteenth time, I have no idea what this video is supposed to show, what type bulb is to be used, or really how to do anything. Very poor explanation, no camera work to show what's going on, not to mention the voice over is near silent. Actually, very poor video all around.
You need to explain what type of change you are actually doing, what types of "electronic goodies" are at both ends (btw, they're called "choke ballasts") what type LED bulb, single or double, exactly how the ends are disassembled and rewired, etc., or if one end is not used. Try moving the camera and actually showing what you are doing, and stop mumbling and speak up.

Please, please don't follow anything this video says. This is a 15 minute job that has to be done at the end of the light that has the incoming wires. The rest is a waste of wires and patience.
