Just drive the klx 300 and it was powered well and smooth. I was considering this 300sm. But I decided I needed to know the difference between the 230 and the 300 for the $1200 difference. All these bikes are over priced. Especially the 400drz. But even the little 230 is $6000? That's crazy for a dirt bike with lights and a starter and a speedo. I do enjoy working on my bikes but at the same time what has me looking for another bike is a new stock something that will always be ready to ride. My other bikes always need something....
I agree I picked up the 300sm cause I thought I was getting a better deal but after test riding the 230 I kinda kicked myself. But all in all still fun bikes to ride on. But compared to the XR150L totally different world.
What are your thoughts of it in comparison to the XR150L? I have one and like it, fun little bike. Just lacks in top end speed, I'd like 5-10 mor mph without the feel that is struggles. Considering a KLX next.
@@1122redbird my XR150L tops out around 50mph still in the break in period 350 miles on it. So I picked up the KLX 300sm. No regrets. The XR is fun around town and powerline trails while the 300 is my daily commuter. I test rode the 230sm. It’s the best in between of both bikes. If you switch to an adventure tire that bike should do everything easy. I got it up to 65mph But limited time on it.
@@scubasteve9449 Thanks for the information, I have an XR150L and I really do like it, I use it for running errands around town and commute to work (only 8 miles each way) which is no real highway, just a short stretch of 40-45 mph and the rest neighborhood roads so it's perfect for that. Also like it riding in the country and on dirt roads. But it lacks the power to consistently hold 55mph so for longer rides I kind of want something that gets just 10mph faster top end and been looking at the 230. I like small, light, air cooled bikes. The XR150L gets GREAT mpg, I got 107 and 102 each time I've measured and with a 3gal tank, I love that. Also the seat is very comfy. But it's the top end speed that it lacks, otherwise nothing I dislike. I will tell you once you hit 1100 miles or so you may notice a jump in power in that XR, I did and went online and saw other say the same. I'm waiting on the 2024 KLX230 to show up at dealerships and when it does, I'm going down to take a look. This vid from pitbikemike assured me that 230 is fine, I won't need the 300. Thanks again for the info.
I was already leaning towards the 230 because I like air cooled, seems like one less mechanical system to break. I don't need the extra speed. So when the 2024 comes out, I'll look forward to seeing it in person and consider.

Got my eye on this bike and been watching a lot of your vids. Have you ever considered putting some ADV tires on it for extra off road grip but still street oriented?
Personally, I have not. I owned a CRF 250L dual sport before with the intention of trying to do some off-roading and during my time of ownership, I never took it offroad so for me, I’m more of a street oriented rider. I haven’t really looked into the 2024 model 230, but would definitely be interesting to see the updates
I think he is speaking the truth some people just like too pay more money for something thinking it is way more better sometime you and see a little and feal a little different but not enough too justifie paying 1200 dollar for same for a sport a 600 zx6 0-100 aint too much different from a zx10

My 230sm with a Norifumi is a blast. Went to the dealership today for shits and gigs. Saw the 2024 300sm looks great. But for what. A 60-70cc difference it’s definitely not worth the higher price tag. Agreed if a 400sm was made I’d go for it

Yup KLX400SM would be cool. If someone is buying new, it's closer. I wouldn't get this if i had a 230 already.

I get that. But even taking that out of equation, I personally would go 230 over the 300 without a second thought.
