Excellent job. I took your design for the Cologne lyre, reduced it by 40%, and called it a "pocket lyre." I always say "based on the design of Michael J. King."
Small enough to fit into a standard briefcase, it still has lots of volume. Keep up the good work!
ImperialistRunningDo these are simpler to make being straight sided but the cologne lyre is a good choice for small lyre design. Pocket lyres! Not made one that small...... yet! :-)
Is this made from a solid piece of wood? or is there a sound board on it? I really love this instrument but i cannot afford to buy one so i want to make one.
Awesome...!!! always creating.!!!....any thoughts on dropping in a peizo transducer.. .
any thoughts on doing bagpipes soon...
Cj12sings a piezo would work well internal or external on this. My lathe is ready for turning. It's just a matter of time. Not sure which one to make mind. I turned a Swedish bagpipe before
Michael J King ...well i am sure whatever you make it will be top notch!!!!... please make sure to offer plans and a building CD on that I think you would have a huge response....maybe a hummelchen straight bore not tapered😀
Seems like a ukulele version of a lyre :)
It certainly is. Same pitch and string length as a concert uke. I have used Ukulele strings on this in the past. My full size version of this is here: ua-cam.com/video/pU_lf_WEFFk/v-deo.html
