E46 M3 SMGII owner here. Just for clarification, SMGII is fantastic for going insanely fast on track. It shifts faster than you, never miss shifts, and you get to focus more on driving. Yeah, daily pleasure driving is better on manual, but CSL is not meant for daily drive enjoyment. It was purpose built to go a hell fast around track.
Couldn't agree more. Although I'm more than happy to use my 2004 E46 M3 SMG on a hilly windy country road. Once you know how to use it, what a joy. Not going to track it now because it's too precious.

as someone who converted my e46 m3 to a manual, i would never do that to this car. this thing is an absolute icon, it stays bone stock or atleast mods that can be easily reverted.

Currently driving a E46 M3 conv, put the top down on a curvy canyon road in mountainous Colorado and the reverberation of the exhaust note is OUT OF THIS WORLD!!!

M3 E46 CSL? That is indeed a rare breed. Couple that to manual gearbox conversion, and I don't care about newer M3. This is still THE KING.

Yes, Clarkson did mentioned that when he reviewed this car on Top Gear. The warning mentioned that the slick tires won't work well in wet conditions.

Looks like the South African heat is causing the C pillar fabric to peel on this poor CSL. It's an easy replacement, though.
If you have ever opened a e46 door up before you would know that slaming the the door shut like that is not a good idea xD
This whole time he was driving it in S3 mode...my guy..turn off DSC and bump it up to S6 mode on the SMG!
