    Kudos to the engineering genius of the gnomes! Efficient, economical, and . . . electrifying! If the new electric lokie is a purchase and not a lease, perhaps the gnomes might add a side window to improve the driver's view (or view of the driver)? A nice brass bell would be a nice touch (just a thought). Really, this is such a nice addition to the railway! I very much liked the Vancouver Island layout with its overhead wire. Now you can run electric, steam, and diesel. Is a trolley a possibility for local (cheap) passenger service down the road? And that rail chariot!!! 🤣🤣🤣

      @Terrys-Steam-and-Bricks  7 місяців тому +1

      I shall pass your compliments along to the gnomes. The lokie is a purchase. I think port hole windows on the side may be nice. I’ll suggest it to the railway’s maintenance department to see where on the priority list it may be. And a bell would be nice. The Pencross has a spare steel bell that is not too fancy but can keep a lookout for a brass one. If a trolley is in the future it would have to use a pantograph as the wire junctions are not set up for a trolley pole. Hmmm. Even an interurban…

      You’re welcome! A trolley line where it uses trolley poles would require special work at the junctions.

      @@Terrys-Steam-and-Bricks Which is why I prefer pantographs on operating models. 😃 The poles do look grand, and sounded grand on an HO layout I had in the 1990s. In this century though, G is easier than HO and pans are easier than poles. Oh, and tell the Gomes that their old rail for wire support is an idea well worth borrowing.

      @@scottfw7169 yeah. The pantographs just seemed easier. This whole overhead wire system came together really fast! And using the rail fits well with the cash strapped private industrial loops railway. The Gnomes know how to cut corners to get things done! 😊

    Great video Terry! Those gnomes sure are industrious and creative too! I like that they used the old rail for the support poles, exactly like a cash strapped gnome run rail road would do! Maybe. Anyway. It gives me a great idea for how to use those solar powered Christmas lights I left up on my planter railway. They are tiny LED's connected with two thin copper wires, when hun similar to yours it may look almost scale, possibly, sort of, good enough!

    Incredible! I started doing something like this on the HO layout using wooden skewers and all that, with the wire a touch above most pantographs to avoid having to make it too perfect. This setup with the bent rails is genius, especially since it's already conductive! The curve tensioners are really clever, too

    Hi dear Terry, I have only now seen, reported to me by a friend, this wonderful work you have done with the construction of the overhead catenary! I see almost all of your videos but I missed this one since I don't always watch UA-cam! Congrats on the work! I have always said that electric locomotives must circulate only by taking power from pantographs! I get hives when I see electric locomotives running with pantographs lowered. On the internet there is an old H0 scale model of mine, where my child son shot a VHS film where you can see that all the pantographs were up and operational! Now I'm testing the LGB catenary and I'll try to make a themed diorama! Greetings Fabrizio - like 51

      Dear Fabrizio, thank you so much for your wonderful message to me. I completely agree. I love to see electric locomotives using overhead wire. I hope you will show us your themed diorama when it is finished. 😊😊😊

      I’ll pass on your compliment to the Gnomes. 😊 given the scale I used thin adhesive vinyl stickers. I made the logo image and then used stickeryou (google them). They are an online service and sheets of the stuff came in the mail. There no doubt will be situations where waterslide will work best, but so far I have been lucky.

    • @Terrys-Steam-and-Bricks
      @Terrys-Steam-and-Bricks  7 місяців тому

      You probably can solder it. There isn’t solder used anywhere here. There are some places and connections that would look improved soldered instead of wrapped. But that may be part of the general improvement of the layout after the basic scenery is finished.

    • @Terrys-Steam-and-Bricks
      @Terrys-Steam-and-Bricks  7 місяців тому +1

    • @Terrys-Steam-and-Bricks
      @Terrys-Steam-and-Bricks  7 місяців тому

      I wonder if on really old trolley lines they came to a split junction and the operator physically moved the pole from one wire to another. I honestly don’t know much about trolley wiring but you’ve piqued my interest.
