3:28 I love this review so far and this part by spades. I have an I4 Edrive 40 rear wheel only. The most common thing when people are driving in my car is saying: "How fast do you think I am going?" Generally speaking the car feels smoother than ANY CAR I HAVE EVER DRIVEN at high speeds. I will be driving 80 or 90 on a highway and people will think I am going 60.
I can see why they have that speed limiter next to the cruise control: Not only is the car quiet, it sounds the same when you're going 75 as when you're going 45. There's no subliminal aural cue to tell you if you're building speed.
One nitpick - the seats in that model aren't cooled... unfortunately you can only get cooled seats with the black interior. Not sure why they did that.
Quick question on the edrive 35. Does it come with Adaptive Cruise Control ? And heated seats ? I'm looking to get one and just getting all the info I can. Thanksnn
CAP! I have mine since August; did try the most efficient run on one charge with optimal conditions; got 270-ish. How did you got this above advertisement range realized?
What about the charging software!! I’ve had a long running series of issues with the App the car and charging. Main issue is that they seem to confuse each other and randomly change the settings without notice. I’ve had two BMW software updates (April and Nov) but no improvement. I’ve now deleted the app but even that doesn’t completely stop the car changing settings!!!
You'rs is best review of the backseat imo. so many other shorter youtubers put the seat all way back and claim even kids can't sit back there it's nonsense. i'm 5'8 and during a test drive the rear seats were nowhere near as bad as I expected. I had plenty of leg room behind my driving position and while 6 footers would suffer kids and people of my height would be absolutely fine. my childseat fit back there with plenty of room. in short it will be absolutely fine for a family car.
After getting one as a surprise rental because "No one wants an electric car" in Alabama, I have saved a build with one. Recharging primarily at a Tesla Supercharger station near me, I've spent about $125 to drive 1400 miles. I gotta say, everything about the sensation of driving it is wild. My example is an xDrive 40 so I get the 396hp dual-motor setup. When I got it (with 607 miles) it said it was getting on average 2.5 mi/kWh. I've been getting about 3.6-3.8mi/kWh so I can only imagine how the previous people drove it. One thing I noticed: You can't get the cognac leather like what you have with the rear heated seats in the xDrive 40. They only come as black then. Would I get one? Absolutely. Do I have 9 people wanting to rent it right after me? You know it. Will they? Maybe.
For basically a 1st gen BMW electric, BMW did a great job. I had an i4 m50 for awhile, iftwas a rocket, but a rocket that had a hard time finding "fuel" as BMW was an is just using CCS.
Frunk is available from a third party. The Ioniq 6 range is not realistic from actual tests. With 18 inch wheels the i4 consistently can achieve its range. The quality of the i4 way better than the Tesla options. With M Sport suspension the handling is amazing.
The range. I have edrive40 with M Sport package and 19 inch wheels. I get 4.1mi/kWh. Doing the math with total usable battery we are looking at 330 mi range. BMW understated here with the i4. Go on the forums and youll see other i4 owners get a lot more. You're example there had very limited options. Spec'd out my edrive40 hit $72k.
@@JustMe99999 you are incorrect. I just built it out on BMWUSA site. A couple things to note. That's a regular M3 only and starts at 76k not 72k. Not the competition with bells and whistles. A basic M3 does 0-60 in the 4's, no DAPP and has nothing going for it and is not worth it. Once you get to the competition model with same options you're north of 91k. Also on top of the price, you pay for gas. Leasing is not favorable for the M but is for the i4 which gets instant $7500 fed and $2k for state on top of 6% discount. Overall cost for the M is exponentially higher than the i4.
Exact spec I've just ordered to replace my C300de Hybrid/diesel C Class. One thing I am a little apprehensive about is the reduction on range in winter months. I did order it fully loaded so I get the heard steering wheel, but still. I do like it warm in the cabin. Guess I need to rethink that a little and maybe wear a coat!
Great car so far for me but major problem is not electric seats with corresponding memory. When you are several people driving the car this is a major problem .
I've just ordered an i4 eDrive 40 M Sport Pro with almost all options ticked. Great car and definitely gives you the feedback ans feel you expect from a BMW. I did a long term road-test on a Q4 S Line Black Edition Sportback and whilst I liked it, it is (obviously) nowhere near as dynamic as the BMW) and whilst it's a pleasant drive, it was pretty boring to drive, but an engaging drive isn't everyone's prerequisite. I also did not like the square steering wheel and the range with the heaters on is pretty poor. (Heat pumps are an option and not standard unlike the BMW - spec might be different in ROW). Some really nasty plastics in it too and you can see where they've tried to cost-down - the most obvious being the door cappings. On the front doors, regular soft padding as you'd expect on a premium German brand, yet the door cappings that flow to the rear suddenly turn into rock hard plastic. The GPS voice on the standard Audi infotainment (on UK cars) sounds like the warder from the women's prison. They look great though (Sportback) and the cabin is airy. If range and driver engagement isn't as much of a bother for you, definitely consider it as it's a nice EV.
I have an i4 and you missed the most obvious fault, no rear wiper! BMW say you don't need it because it clears when you get up to speed, well I don't set off from home at 70 mph, I like having rear visibility and in bad weather and heavy traffic you just have to accept that it's poor.
the range metric is way overblown IMO. why carry all that weight in batteries when, overwhelmingly, most people are hard pressed to drive more than 40 miles a day. charge it when you get home (or at work if you have charger availability)
A four door exec coupe is a road trip vehicle. Airports aren't always close by to where you want to go. You want something to putt about around town, get a compact or subcompact EV model.

Exaxtly, I love cruising in 60.

Very good review. I might add that BMW is known to be conservative on their range. My edrive35 actually gets a 300mi range when charged to 100%.
Awesome!

@mistermannan mine came with it. Also heated steering wheel. But when you look for one or order one make certain it has the options you want.

@@mistermannanIn Europe it doesn’t; you need to upgrade. It comes with adaptive breaking though
I think the Wisconsin winter weather could be a challenge to the range and handling with the rear wheel drive set up.
Just get a set of Michelin Cross Climate 2s, or Verdestein Quatrac Pro+ and you'd be just fine.
5:10 And unlike Toyota, the electrified blue elements of the BMW roundel actually match the Bavarian blue in the emblem proper.
I bought a i4 edrive 40i, i love the car, ive had several other bmw"s and I've been extremely happily made the decision to go all electric
I have 340 miles in range in mine in the summer. But I drive smooth and keep speed limits.
I also got 340 in a hire car recently in California. Dashboard said that was at 95%
Same with me in the summer. I get around 4.2 kWh which is 340 miles. But average around 4 kWh all year round!

We purchased one two days ago, right before the christmas for my son. Love it!
Lol, richy rich

It's more a 2nd generation for BMW electric vehicles. The i3 and i8 are where they had to iron out the specs.
The steering wheel looks enormous. I hope there is an optional sport-wheel available?
I'd say the Polestar 2 is a direct competitor in this class of EV in the U.S. It even has the similar hatch style cargo area.
@@bullit199 very true indeed

Excellent review! The beamer is a very complete package.
I will get my e40 m-sport in Dec.💪

At that price you would have been better off getting the M -- you can get every option but the laser headlights for $74k.

How is it that you get the full 7,500 credit, but Tesla you get up to 7,500 depending on your tax return? Also, I dig your hat! Where can I get one?
I was thinking standard cooling seats 😩
The range section I feel isn’t fully reliable. We have 23 model y long range and it barely gets to 300 with conservative use
I thought this was a 2025 model coz the front looks different to the models we have available. Ours has the front from the M50.
Great car so far for me but major problem is not electric seats with corresponding memory. When you are several people driving the car this is a major problem .
You can assign keys to individual user profiles. And each profile will subsequently allow you to save 2 seat/side mirror positions.
I have an i4 on order 😍
How is it?
Is this a base spec?
base powertrain, yes
Comparing with audi q4, your thoughts. Heard audi has software issues, not reliable.
If you don’t need AWD I’d go i4

No I disagree . I have been driving without during 5 years and it is useless.
Never felt the need for a rear wiper in my i4. And I live in Holland, where it pretty much rains all year long.
It's a sedan?
It’s not a hatch though..
@@notSenses Yes it is a hatchback.
While cooled seats are an option, they are not on that $61,000 example.
not an option at all in the UK. which just makes no sense considering they are all made in the same factory.

I ordered i4 partly based on range. I do frequent long journeys. I would not buy it if it had the range of a Nissan Leaf.
It’s not a sedan actually. It’s a hatchback.
it's shaped like a sedan coupe tho, doesn't matter how the boot opens.
@@SuperVids112 it does... Sedan's and hatchbacks are two different things. plenty of coupe hatchbacks.
