I dont understand, Cole said himself why he was ‘involved’ in the beef during his speech at the fest. He literally said he just went back at Kendrick in the spirit of competitiveness and hip hop but he didnt even feel it cos deep down he respects and has love for Kendrick. Why are we still asking and discussing ‘why did Cole do this and that?’ He explained it and was very clear just take him for his word man

Personally I think Cole was used by drake to make it seem they clicking up . Cole didn't wanna choose sides . Cole responded on 7 min drill to "like that verse " but once he realized what was going on with the whole industry about to come at drake . And Drake tryna make it look like they both against Kendrick. Cole realized and backed off. I don't think Cole scared of anybody lyrically. I think he realized this was not about him and ppl where tryna set him up to choose a side
Here is what happened:
1: J. Cole releases 7-minute drill, Drake speaks with him and he realises this beef is going to be way bigger than he thought. He may have even heard some of family matters.
2: From the day 7 min drill is released to the Dreamville concert lots of conversations are happening with J cole and others - including Schoolboy Q. He may have also spoken to other TDE members. There is another rumour going around saying Kendrick played Cole some of euphoria (it was a 19 min time during this period).
3: J. Cole decides that he doesn't want to be a part of this beef. He is going to announce this at the concert. He tells Drake this 45 mins before they go on. Drake is shocked, and they have a conversation.
4: Drake can't be on stage with Cole if he knows at some point Cole is going to apologise to Kendrick. He leaves 30 mins before their performance; most likely annoyed at Cole
5: J cole performs and publicizes his feelings and apologises
Drake has a disdain for what cole did hence why he includes mini disses to him in his songs.

They probably gained an understanding, and Cole removed himself from it, knowing the other two had real static. But also, I'm sure the bullshit that happened before or during the making of FPS... I guess we'll see what happens next, I'm sure Cole will address the situation sooner or later.

Kendrick has hated, despised, frankly abhorred Drake, for over a decade at this point, and he still gave him two chances in Euphoria and 6:16 to keep it Hip Hop.

I think we reading too much into this. I think what might have happened is cole dissed kendrick thinking this is just friendly for the spirit of hip hop etc, but kendrick was actually offended. Cole felt bad and was like alright I don't want to hurt my friend, coupled with the possibility of Q talking to him, cole publicly apologized.

That's how the game goes. Industry and casuals have decided on the narrative and will run with it. All this has shown me is that no one really respects Cole from the media aspect. They paint the picture as Kendrick being the heroic big bad wolf, Drake being the fraudulent villian and Cole being the weakling with no backbone. This is a dumb argument. If me and you were asked by someone who is better at a certain thing, me as a person would definitely say it’s me. I would also expect you to say that you are better at this said thing as well. It has nothing to do with putting down anyone. Cole acknowledged KDot and Drake as the two who can compete with him but just like many other artists, he picked himself because he has that much confidence in his abilities.
