@@einkleinschwein AI is vulnerable to various tricks and can be dismantled one by one, which is a shame. One of the developers (lead dev, the only dev?) had an interview 10-15 years ago and mentioned he was lacking tools to debug and fix issues with AI, for example, unpredictable ship AI. Perhaps they would have it fixed, had they have more time, but the project was already a nightmare to complete ;)
One of the first games I ever played on PC, when I was 10, took me a while to work it out but I mastered this game fairly quick, have many fond memories.
THe Music starts on 24:00 , i was watching the workers that work in green valley when wind breeze and moves the green trees ,amazing feelings best game in my list .
24:35 one of the best pieces to be ever written for the game, and part 25:53 chills down the spine start 26:19 detente, I can only imagine this song being played by full orchestra
It is the worst track in the set, not everyone does like classical music ;) In general, it is just too different from the rest. The track at 05:35 is also a deviation, but not as drastic.
Love Settlers 2! Played it all the time as a kid and have been playing bunch of the anniverssary edition at least once every few years :D. Loved searching for gold on the maps as a kid lol, awesome game.
I could spend 10-20 hours on each map when playing this game, colonizing every part of the map and perfecting my infrastructure before finally attacking the AI.
I listen to many great soundtrack while studying, (baldurs gate, chrono trigger, worms armageddon, rayman, HoMM3, etc) but this is the vid I've been listening the most for 4 years now. I gotta thx you and Settlers 2 in the thanks page of my thesis

Even if she played S2, but her fav race was "orcs", it would be good enough for me ;) I don't think there is a lot of music in S1. Most videos on the YT are about 6 minutes long. There is 12 minutes long version from Amiga with the title: "Amiga music: The Settlers (in-game)", video ID: r385tMuVwjg, which is made of two tracks.

We are not asking her what she thinks of maps like Green meadows or The oak forest, wich is the best for an agriculture strategies.

Best played with original guitar. Nothing beats the atmosphere. Also, there's a lot more to the original guitar, than it sounds as at first. Kinda like in DF itself - it's layer upon layer upon layer of *STUFF*.
Thanks for the upload. I was looking forward to playing the History version of The Settlers 2. However, they didn't use the CD version of the Soundtrack, spoiled the game for me.
The difference is that despite a few tiny hiccups, such as buggy ship delivery, you can play original S2 even today and have plenty of fun with no hassle. D2 is still fun, but controls are a bit painful, mostly because of poor unit control.
@@pavel9652 I agree but you get used to it. I play a PC conversation of Dune 2 on Android at the moment and the feeling is the same like in the old days, although I liked the Amiga background music better.
@@nichderjeniche Thanks, I will check the mobile version. There are quite a few great retro games resurrected on mobiles recently, for instance, Z (RTS with robots). Another classic game that aged well is WarCraft 1. It is still as good as in 1994! Although the soundtrack is little more sinister as music in Settlers ;]
@@pavel9652 I was never a Warcraft fan. I think the dune 2 game isn't available anymore in the play store. If you want I can upload the apk on google drive.

Well, I never played the gold edition, if it's any different to the original one... But I played the original version and it was a very good game. For me, it was the best in the whole franchise. I didn't like the looks of The Settlers games that followed. I kind of wish that there was a new updated version of this game with better graphics but in a similiarish style as on this.
What do you mean? It's the original soundtracks that was on the Audio-CD Part of the Settlers 2. Located on Track 2 onwards on the disc ;) Track 1 was the data-track with the game.
@@Bergwacht This are the original orchestrated songs that where made in 2 versions. First the recording you can listen here and the second is the downsized midiversion that, back then, could be stored on the hard disk and played when the CD was not inserted. You have to remember, the Original installed game where only 20MB on the hard drive but the hard drive where also only one Gigabyte maximum, if you're wealthy the "normal" people used some hard drives with 100 to 500mb or something. So Storage for Audio Tracks and the Intro video where limited.

The time that came after that was even worse, there was usually an extra cd just for a bunch of wav files^^ The Settlers 2 soundtrack shaped me a bit, it's super relaxing for me. in all variants :)

Great music for playing Dwarf Fortress.
