For all the problems real space programs have, "We were testing decouplers and accidentally summoned a dark god" probably isn't something anyone at NASA has ever had to say.
This is actually basically how rockets work. Think about it, you are shooting stuff backwards to make yourself go forwards. Using decouplers is just like using a really really inefficient engine.
For some reason, people didn't want to blow up a bunch of nukes over their own country. But normal rockets are still technically explosions, just one long one instead of a bunch of tiny ones.
4:32 somebody actually had this as a theory for getting a spaceship to a decent percentage of the speed of light, they used nukes instead of decouplers but it saves on fuel 🤣
First coupler test, jeb performs a fucking backflip and appears from the dust of the explosion like a DBZ character, without a scratch on him. .. Pfft.. What a show-off...
my theory as to why on the second try the kraken was summoned. Jeb was in a seat, and when the machine hit the ground, only the seat broke. due to this, Jeb was fine, but he was also in the ground, because the first collision frame only the seat was broken, and the collision was pointed almost perfectly towards the ground. therefore, Jeb was spat out of kerbin at an incredible speed, causing Floating point overflows, and the kraken to materialize.
It just clicked for me 🤣 I was really impressed by whoever came up with the concept behind the Orion project, then Dennis casually came up with it himself... makes the idea a little underwhelming when it’s accidentally stumbled upon in a space-based videogame... it does make me want to build a proper spaceship around that propulsion concept though
Fucking wizardry. I randomly started watching your video and the music at the end perfectly synced to my music in skyrim what I am also playing. Also that is bloody brilliant art right there
OMG THATS elder scrolls music, at the end of the video, that was either oblivion or morrowind but i recognized that, respect lol those were the classic days
Right at the end I was like, "The F Word? In a Scott Manley video?" And only then did I realize it wasn't Scott Manley! Great video by the way. Very entertaining.
This concept is much like what (I believe) NASA was testing many years back, they use explosions as their propulsion; basically throwing hand grenades off the bottom of the rocket to get it to fly off the launch pad.
This with some added shielding and shock absorbsion and using small attomic bombs instead of decoupler charges has actually been proposed as a viable means of space travel. Also that was epic.
Maximum Decouplers.
SWDennis too many
You might also want check this guy out, he took the decoupler thing even further. ua-cam.com/video/idq3sBiVs6M/v-deo.html
SWDennis you need more. The game did not crash, the screen did not turn black, so, you have not reached max decouplers.
Max. Fun!
SWDennis MAXIMUM OGERDRIVE
For all the problems real space programs have, "We were testing decouplers and accidentally summoned a dark god" probably isn't something anyone at NASA has ever had to say.
Upvote this man.
Not according to Alex Jones :p
This is actually basically how rockets work. Think about it, you are shooting stuff backwards to make yourself go forwards. Using decouplers is just like using a really really inefficient engine.
Science.
No, that isn't how a rocket works, that is how propulsion works.
And just what does a rocket use to go up?
Inefficient? How dare you! This is nearing the pinnacle of science itself!!
#ProjectOrion
I remember when the 3.73m decoupler was massless for some reason. You could use them to go literally anywhere just by stacking them infinitely.
I don’t
I think it’s fitting that on the VERY SECOND ATTEMPT, you awoke the Kraken.
Maland2016 haha I think he did too
The kraken in its physical form
Jeb was the kraken
Jeb hates decouplers, that's why.
I used to be an astronaut like you, until I took a decoupler to the knee.
(sees comment) THATS A KNEE SLAPPER...or a knee DECOUPLER........I'll see myself out.......WHERE'S THE DOOR
Skyrim classic phrase. Haha
5:00 nice oblivion music.
Rayvin exactly
Noticed that too
I knew it!
he adds oblivion music in each video lol
You can go into the KSP directory and edit the power of the decouplers.
Yeah. I forgot the default power of the kerbodyne decouplers.
An Orion Drive with Decouplers? Fascinating. More experimentation along this line, please!
Patrick Sawyer only the start uses the Orion principle
Now, to the mun and back only with decouplers (docking included).
dew it!
thats what she said
I would pay to see that.
someone get scott manley!
3:54 Can this "rocket" reach Uranus ? ;)
QuietElite Yo, this is the best comment i have read in well over a month.
lol
*rimshot*
I take yo minutea to understand
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
What better propulsion could there be than explosions?
Screw rocket engines!
Try Nuclear Explosions.
Note: This was an actual idea dubbed the 'Orion Engine'
Never put into practice.
For some reason, people didn't want to blow up a bunch of nukes over their own country.
But normal rockets are still technically explosions, just one long one instead of a bunch of tiny ones.
Techno Idioto I know, but the idea of detonating nukes directly under your rocket wasn't very much favored.
litteraly "screwing the rocket engine "lol sry i had to
"Someone's firing decouplers at the pad again!"
"What?" _sigh_ "Dock Jeb's pay again."
You say stupid but this reminds me of some of the early nuclear rocket testing systems XD
x) THE PROFECY IS TRUE
yeah,i was reading an article on it a few days ago, cant remember the name of it though lol.
Its the nuke propulsion system
It’s called the Orion Drive, and it was tested on a small scale model and worked. Also Kerbal Space Program 2 will be adding this engine to.
Admin: So what are we sending jeb to space with today?
Engineer: A mountain that slowly dismantles itself....explosively.
"Should we use staging to get to orbit?"
"Seems like a rocket engine would be better, but okay…"
"That's not what I m-… Never mind."
still waiting for the decoupler based warp drive...
0:37 Jebediah Kerman died on Nov. 25, 2017 of the Danny2462 virus. R.I.P. Jeb :(
Me in 2020 HMMM
This reminds me of that one project of a nuclear bomb powered rocket
this is basically the new nuclear system in ksp2 😂
but its not even out yet :/
Is it true? We will find out...
Project orion rocket
Nople
Fuck. Not again a typo.
Edit: At least a funny one. :D
nople syrup
even jeb isnt intrested...
You should put an sas module to keep it stable
5:21 is the saddest monent in my life, I'm crying
Thank you for the oblivion music; my heart beats with love every time I hear it.
Doctor: Jeb. You are HIV Alladin.
Jeb: 5:00
I clicked to see how much time ‘till the timestamp and it landed on exactly *420* , so thanks for existing
You better take a look at this sir... It looks like a giant...
PINGAS
Dimm Vargr Uh... Not what i was going on but ok
Sno PINGAS usal i see
Z3roCool007 he should have attempted to reference spaceballs with that... erm, phallic shape.
Schlong
A pseudo-Orion drive. Hmm... Time to get it into orbit.
That final iteration looked like the Gherkin in London.
Maximum decouplers!
Kraken Engaged.
*When Dennis uploads*
4:32 somebody actually had this as a theory for getting a spaceship to a decent percentage of the speed of light, they used nukes instead of decouplers but it saves on fuel 🤣
Bravo on the music choice. Especially the oblivion music. Beautiful soundtrack.
First coupler test, jeb performs a fucking backflip and appears from the dust of the explosion like a DBZ character, without a scratch on him.
.. Pfft.. What a show-off...
Geting to orbit with only decoplers
That last text at the end made me say haha a few times
Eve and back with only decouplers
Orion is that you?
Man, that Crysis 2 Music by Hans Zimmer sends chills down my spine every time. What a soundtrack.
Uhm... Did you involved Danny2462 into the development?
That crysis music on the second clip fit perfectly for sacrificing Jeb and unleashing the kraken.
MMmmmm Crysis
Thanks for crisis theme I remember old days
could you send a craft to the mun with nothing but decouplers
Preston Garvey if you want to waste a few hundred hours of ingame time, sure
To the moon? Sure I'll mark it on your map.
Preston Garvey
You could probably fix a settlement with all of those decouplers
i once locked you up in a custom cage in the castle
you got out twice but I put a pillory there to make sure you stay
Lovely tutorial on bricking my pc and creating a cluster bomb at the same time. Keep it up
*Stupidest*, i think you misspelled awesome
my theory as to why on the second try the kraken was summoned.

If it's stupid and it works then it isn't stupid! ^^'
Shinzo's Sins Jingles much?
That's very paradoxical
Stupid people function, does that mean they aren't stupid.
I've done more
I bet.
Pictures or it did not happen :-P
"By the Nine Divines if you have to travel stay on the roads! Its the decouplers you see..."
You should make a Kerbal named SWDennis you use the debug console
If that kerbal dies
no more vids.
0:38 You started vacuum decay. Single-handedly broken the universe, congrats bro...
Fucking wizardry. I randomly started watching your video and the music at the end perfectly synced to my music in skyrim what I am also playing.
Also that is bloody brilliant art right there
The second one was probably the kraken haunting kerbin and it s tentecales of physics were trying to slay u
Flying with explosions was basically how the Project Orion spacecraft was supposed to work.
4:40 that oblivion music hit my nostalgia really hard. I think I have to replay that game at some point ^^
OMG THATS elder scrolls music, at the end of the video, that was either oblivion or morrowind but i recognized that, respect lol those were the classic days
Go to orbit using decouplers!
N O P L E
Barbosa: Release the Kraken
SWDennis: hold my drink
A rocket that doubles as an artillery barrage! Ingenious!!
Ok you're right I do need the oblivion sound track in ksp. Thankyou for the inspiration.
i love that fact that struts explode when they hit the ground. Straight outta an aqua teen episode i see
My computer cried watching this.
Ksp: *summons kraken*
SWDennis: *Strange.*
Badass 100
You won my heart with that Mass Effect music man.
Right at the end I was like, "The F Word? In a Scott Manley video?" And only then did I realize it wasn't Scott Manley!
Great video by the way. Very entertaining.
Such a beautiful demonstration of Newtons third law of motion.
I like the music with the explosions. Very dramatic.
This concept is much like what (I believe) NASA was testing many years back, they use explosions as their propulsion; basically throwing hand grenades off the bottom of the rocket to get it to fly off the launch pad.
This man and Danny can just summon the kraken like it’s nothing.
Danny would be proud
Hearing that Crysis soundtrack gave me the shivers!
Great.. Watching this video made me want to start playing Crysis again
I fucking love the oblivion music
The oblivion music is permanently ingrained in my soul lol
SWDennis is like the calmer version of nexters lab
CRYSIS 2 ! THANKS GOD !
I will never be able to stop listening to the beautiful chorus of decouplers firing at once when I release more that 120 satellites over jool.
That backflip at the beginning was pretty sick though.
Why am I only now seeing this channel? Cmon UA-cam, fix ur system, these are the videos I want to see!
I don't know what's with the crysis 2 song but i love that its on the video
I think the crisis 2 theme (i apologize for forgetting the exact mission name) is the most fitting thing for witnessing crimes against humanity
Good clean cheeki breeki fun! Loved the oblivion nod
moment of silence for jeb he died twice in a day
This with some added shielding and shock absorbsion and using small attomic bombs instead of decoupler charges has actually been proposed as a viable means of space travel. Also that was epic.
The kraken has accepted the sacrifice of your finest pilot.
ahaha that was wicked, and the meme "I cant believe youve done this"
laughed my ass off when jebs got the kraken and crysis 2 music started playing
that Oblivion music was very nice and also a great video
idea: We dont need rockets! All we need is the force of decouplers to push us up! KSP "Rocket" Physics!
thank you for making me want to play oblivion again
I was sat there like "Is this oblivion music? Wait... IT IS!"
The video is awesome, but I just want to say, the oblivion music got me. I had some great times in that game.
"It appears I have awakened the Kraken"
No, you have awakened Danny2462
0:37 Jeb screamed so hard that he became a anomaly so big, the SCP classified it as Apollyon, then named it Krajeb.
Giving me nostalgia w that oblivion music lol
appreciate that oblivion musics
The new warp drive is finally here
Oblivion music makes this video three times crazier
