1953 German-Austrian Nanga Parbat expedition
Nanga Parbat was first climbed, via the Raikot face (East Ridge), on July 3rd, 1953, by Austrian climber Hermann Buhl on the German-Austrian Nanga Parbat expedition, a member of a German-Austrian team. The expedition was organized by the half-brother of Willy Merkl, Karl Herrligkoffer from Munich, while the expedition leader was Peter Aschenbrenner from Kufstein
There was ever highest death rate before 1st ascent on any 8,000 meters mountain in the world, 31 climbers died before this first ascent.

The H Bahul was legendary , later on his space was covered by my favourite Messner, met him at BC of Nanga Parbat, Messner and Late Ali Sadpara were well known to this great mountain.
Yes messner is all time legend, I tried to meet him at Italy in his museum but couldn't he was on his lectures trip in Germany
