If the writers had just done a proper Darklina romance in s2, then s3 would have been greenlit within a month. Removing darklina made them lose half the fanbase AND pushed away general audiences(darklina is what MADE the trilogy famous and what lures general audiences)

He would encourage her to embrace her true self and become more powerful Mal would shame her for being powerful and pressure her to follow his dream of being a pauper farmer with her as his donkey, suppressing her true self, suppressing her power, and not eating

I hate Mal omg especially in the books. Like I'm a Darklina girl but I woulda settled for girlboss Alina...she didn't have to end up with Mal in R&R 🙃 I hate that Mal only noticed her after she became the Sun Summoner, and she wanted him anyway
