One is advised to bring the mind back to observation of the breath instantly if it thinks of anything other than the breath. So, how can insight into anything occur if no thinking is allowed? Thanks.
Is this Vipassana? I attended a 10-day course at a Dhamma center based on S.N. Goenka's teachings. During the course, we were instructed to simply observe body sensations without reacting to them or judging them. We were told not to crave pleasant sensations either. The practice began with Anapana meditation for concentration and then progressed to observing body sensations from top to bottom and vice-versa. I am confused about what this practice is all about. Could you please clarify?
Is this actually vipassana tho? My understanding is that you don’t control the breath or visualization of relaxation. It’s a lovely guided meditation but None of this was taught during my 10 day sit
