I've survived 2020 by ignoring main stream media and by enjoying time with my wife and kids. We spent lots of time outside hiking, fishing and having dinner over a firepit. I will be surviving the 2020 duck season my 8 year old son. He will be joining me most days. We're both really excited about that. Keep up the great content!
Chuck here on my wife's account. We have survived by being fortunate enough to be retired and fairly well equipped financially. Being older we have been careful but still engaged in hunting and fishing, taken a tasty venison and many nice trout. Just had a few days of duck hunting and so far the season looks promising. Leaving for Eastern Washington potholes soon for a 4 day hunt. In the meantime I continue to draw and paint wildlife with an emphasis on waterfowl. All in all...we are surviving! thanks for the great videos!
I've survived 2020 but spending time fishing and studying on how to duck hunt since this is my first season going after ducks. I got my first 2 geese last year on a guided hunt and fell in love with waterfowl hunting.
I survived 2020 by... well... hunting! How else?!?! Honestly, hunting turkeys this spring, training my American Water Spaniel, getting a new trailer ready for fall waterfowl, early season goose, teal season, and finally duck and goose season. Hunting helped me and my boys stay sane during quarantine and lockdown.
Made it through my first duck season. It was a definite learning experience. I’ve hunted all my life but never duck hunted. I’m hooked. Thanks for the videos.
Joel, I retired from Dentistry after 40 years this July. So, I have been surviving by improving habitat at my little hobby farm where my relatives and friends deer, dove, squirrel, rabbit, and turkey hunt. Unfortunately, I do not have opportunity to duck hunt the farm, but I make do by hunting waterfowl rich southern Illinois. My season starts this weekend! Dog, boat, decoys, and gear are all ready! I will be adding your homemade jerk cord this week. Thanks for the tip.
I survived 2020 by surviving my first full duck season, bass fishing and watching your channel along with others to help learn duck calling and other aspects of waterfoul hunting.
I’ve been surviving 2020 so far by keeping my mind busy by doing a lot of mini projects around the house. Putting up fences, planting trees, just a bunch of stuff.
I’m surviving 2020 by working from home mostly, did a few road trips and one air travel for work. Waterfowl season started here last week of September and has been filling some of my weekends and vacation days. I thank God for blessing me with passion for hunting, otherwise I would’ve been miserable this year.
I survived everyday by working in public service and stating healthy. Keeping up with my family and their needs. I love watching your videos. Thanks for what you do, keep up the great work.
My son joined the USMC in August. Hes been my hunting partner since he was 8. So, this year, I've been going alone or hunting with people im not used to hunting with. Im surviving duck season by watching Surviving Duck Season to keep my mind off of my son not being there. Love the channel and the way you present all things duck hunting especially the cooking sessions.
I’ve survived 2020 by preparing for my first duck season learning from Surviving Duck Season, Virginia Outdoors Unlimited, and other’s alike. I’ve learned a lot and hope to be successful this year.
I survived 2020 by reading several books dealing with duck hunting, both fiction and non-fiction. I also tackled several projects to get ready for this duck season. I repainted full body duck decoys and turned a few into Black Ducks. I also made a new jerk rig to use this season, thanks to your inspiration. Recently been getting the pit ready for the start of the season in a couple of weeks!
I survived 2020 by getting into duck hunting this year. Oh man am I hooked. Can't thank you enough for all the really valuable information you provide to make the learning curve easier.
I survived duck season 2020 by working on my new hunting shack and training my pup. We still have a little time left in the the season and it’s been one of my best in resent memory.
He I'm from Washington state , its been a tough year with work ,hunting and fishing .Governor Inslee shut down construction work ,hunting and fishing last spring. That is very nice of him.He will have to answer for all the great things he has done for Washington. I am extremely happy that we could hunt now!!
I survived 2020 by keeping my mind and hands occupied as much as possible. Cutting firewood, my rc hobby and spent some serious time building a badass blind for this season. So far it’s been working out awesome. Thanks for the giveaway opportunity!
My wife and I purchased a home in March. I have done everything from demo to drywall and everything in between. We moved in last month. That’s how I have survived 2020.
I've survived 2020 by getting into new things. One of those things being duck hunting, I have enjoyed it so far and love the experience. The rush you get from any type of hunting for that matter is unreal. I have also enjoyed viewing your content for tips and tricks. Also purchased some High n Dry waders from watching your videos and I love them so far. Keep making the great content. I will continue to keep watching.
I've survived 2020 by working as much as I can. With corona virus working LA County in construction can be a challenge due to closures. So I've maintained by hunting & fishing with my 2 daughters & prepping for the 2020 duck season. Building blinds, washing mud off decoys, teaching my kids how to call ducks & geese.
Definitely would like to see more videos about recording hunts. How 2020 been, I've been not stop with work, but hunting season and UA-cam videos have helped me the most. We have been very lucky and stayed healthy. Thanks for the giveaways and keep up the great videos!
Man I live in Iowa this season has been amazing honestly one of the best I’ve had. I also love to see you giving back to the community with your giveaways thanks man
I have survived 2020 with the grace of God! Life has its ups and downs and that’s ok! Unfortunately I haven’t been able to see my family as much as usual but, I eventually found out how to adapt to it! I have gotten a lot more time to spend with my Pops outdoors and that’s something I’ll always cherish! I’ve also been watching your videos for a long time and wanted to tell you that your advice has made me become a better hunter, thank you and keep up your good work! -Griffin Helgenberger
I'm surviving 2020 by hitting the outdoors with family as much as I can.. camping, hiking, fishing, crabbing, hunting. I've also spent a large portion of my time learning and buying gear for waterfowl hunting as this is my first 'official' season hitting it hard and hunting on my own. As a hospital worker, Its extremely therapeutic, especially this year. You know what I'm talking about.
I have survived 2020 by completing Army Basic Training, enduring a “non-traditional” senior year of high school, and of course duck hunting! Can never have too many duck hunts.
I survived 2020 by realizing my employment was killing my soul and who i was as a person, i changed to a job that allows me to maximize the amount of time i am able to spend hunting. I work 80 hours in 4 days and then am off for 10. basically every other weekend. If i take vacation time i am able to hunt nearly every day for a month!
I survived 2020 so far by staying healthy & following the guidelines from the CDC. Im ready for Duck season picking up my new Benelli this afternoon. Im just missing one of your awesome shirts 👕 😉
2020 wow yeah about 2020. Keeping busy that’s how you get through anything!! Keeping your mind working! It also helped my son was born in oct. I’ve also been binge watching the surviving duck season videos. With this being my first year ever duck hunting just taking a lot of new info in an trying new things. Love the channel keep doing what you do we all love it!!!!
I've survived by remembering what is important in life. Quality time with close family and friends, time at church, and getting ready for duck season!!! I would also really enjoy some videos on tips for shooting video during duck hunts.
I have survived 2020 by working with a ice cream delivery company to grocery stores, I built 2 dozen snow goose decoys tressel coated Styrofoam with sock heads flocked tails and heads and cedar coated keels. I take some groceries to my friends and family as my parents are retired and elderly and not getting out in this and some of my friends are not working. I deliver in a circle around 200 miles through the small towns i hunt waterfowl in. And get to see when the migration happens each season. There are snows, greater white fronts, Canada's, mallards, pigtails, gradwall, widgion, four types of teal, black ducks, canvas backs, redheads, mergansers, scaup, golden eye, and some stray other species all that frequently are spotted along the rivers and ponds in the area. I watch alot of UA-cam and make comments on a wide range of things. I watch Joel on surviving duck season probably more than any other duck program because he has an honest sportsman dedication to actually teach the stuff others try to hide. And that's important in duck hunting. Id love to get my grubby mitts on one of those shirts also so if I don't win could you drop a link to buy one in the comments.
Joel, first and foremost great video. I never get tired of watching them. Thanks!! How I have survived covid? Fortunately for me my family has remained healthy and safe. Unfortunately for me I was laid off from my dream job in April. Being an optimist I thought I would find a replacement job in a few weeks. Boy was I wrong. It took several months and I nearly ran out of unemployment benefits prior to landing my new job. Those months were tough for me watching my wife leave for work each day without complaining. As a guy it was tough to see my wife be the one supporting the family financially. Through faith, lots of prayers, and your videos I was able and continue to survive 2020 and the covid pandemic. Your videos were truly a ray of sunshine and hope during some stormy times for me.
I have survived 2020 by focusing on yard work landscaping our yard. Since I have been stuck at home I have had a lot of time to focus on all of those projects we have been putting off.
I survived 2020 by the hunting community and starting duck hunting for the first time. Gotta say. Im addicted to it man. Havent been tooo succesful, but nonetheless love the process and enjoying nature. Still looking forward to the rest of the season tho. Not gonna give up. Need to add to the ducks in the freezer for a good meal! Also thanks to ur vids, u really helped with me starting this sport. I had no mentors or anyone i know who does duck hunting. So you were all i had lol. To that i say thanks ma man. Keep it up
I’ve been surviving 2020 by working and looking forward to/preparing for both duck season(which started Oct 1st for us) and deer season which is in full swing right now. My 16 month old yellow lab Gunner has also been keeping me busy along with his 2 new sisters Remi and Winnie ( Remington, and Winchester) 2 black female labs from the same breeders as Gunner !
I’ve survived scouting every weekend in Middle TN in hot weather. Have to store my boat where there’s no electricity to charge batteries. Bought a solar panel the fix that issue. Then there was some dirt on the battery causing me to think the negative was the positive and had my connections reversed causing my trolling motor to run in reverse. No tools onboard so had to wing it for the day until I got home. While my trolling motor battery was dead I tried using the trim on my outboard to get me in the shallow water and clogged up my water intake housing lol. Today was great. Battery was charged, connected to the correct terminals so I could use the trolling motor in shallow water. Ahh, felt like I was high class scouting today lol.
I love seeing these videos! SO helpful, I have been hunting for years and gathered information along the way; but Surviving Duck Season has been my go to! I am interested in how to video my hunt, I have a go pro but I'm still somewhat clueless. Lastly, I have survived 2020 by staying faithful in our Father, with hope of a good hunting season and staying optimistic with my family and close friends!
I survived 2020 by family, going to church, watching your videos and praying for colder weather up north to push the ducks and geese this way, thanks for the chance of a giveaway.
Man its been a tough year for everybody. Honestly I have gotten by so far by just continuing the way I did before the pandemic. So things are common sense stuff. Being a firefighter emt i have delt with this type of stuff for years. Just some extra precautions now. But honestly if it wasn't for the outdoors I would probably go crazy. Looking forward to our season to open this year more than ever before. Where I'm at a 2 birs day is a good day. But weather I see a bird or not just being there gives peace of mind. Thanks for the good content. God bless brother
Definitely been a challenge. My son was born in the beginning of March. My wife is a nurse and has been working extra shifts and the company I work for has had record breaking orders for machines ( we are an oem). We’ve relied on friends family and faith.
I survived 2020 by try to focus on the positives in life such as training my new puppy, spending time time family, graduating high school, and being blessed enough to still be able to go to college this fall.
Great video Joel. Yes I would like to see more videos on camera work and production....I am always learning and trying to better my videos....if I was 20 years younger I would prolly take you up on your offer of the internship.....but would never turn down a hunt...or even a one on one talking ducks .......2020 has been and continues to be the most unusual year I have ever seen. Great job and keep up the great work.
I survived 2020 by working outdoors in MT, helped me to get fresh air and see some wildlife everyday. I also watched a lot of waterfowl videos to ease the pain of summer 😅
We just bought a new house 2 months ago next to a lot of public land here in northeast Mississippi. I also go back into gardening this past spring . Grown and hunt your food if possible guys and gals!!!!
Survived the summer by bowfishing, finally got into dove season and then it just rolled into ducks. Pretty excited to be able to split time between upland on those bluebird days!
I survived 2020 by have a beautiful daughter (a future watcher of "Surviving Duck Season" also by finally getting back into duck hunting after an 8 year slump. My first solo hunt resulted in a mountable drake buffle head on an overhunted public pond. Also have caught my first king salmon. And have gotten into creek fishin for trout. Gotta love wisconsin 🤘
A dozen and a jerk cord in the timber up Cache? Sure. Done it many times. But a dozen and a jerk cord in the rice fields? Good luck. Situation dictates strategy. And now we're having to figure out the new goose program with the specks and snows hanging together with some lesser Canadas mixing in. Time to get to learning! Love what you're doing Joel!
I’ve survived 2020 by playing less attention to political media and focusing on getting my son out to the duck and good fields and ponds. It’s helped us grow and bond more, plus he’s learning skills that are no longer taught in schools. He’s also learning about sporting clays, trap and 5 stand. In a weird way, it’s been a blessing.
I survived 2020 by staying quarantined! I went duck hunting one morning, that evening I got sick, the next day I tested positive for covid. I did My two weeks of quarantine and then the first day out of Quarantine i was back in the field!
I survived physically by washing my hands, wearing a mask and making an effort not to touch my face. Mentally I survived by getting outdoors as much as possible. I fished, did some kayaking and also some daydreaming of being in the duck blind.
How have I survived 2020. First , lost my uncle to COVID . 2nd my 19 year old son protected a lady after she was hit by a 30 year old man. He got between them. He was then attacked by him and his brother . They got him down to the ground and boot stomped him. He had emergency surgery that morning. Had a reaction to anesthesia almost died on the operating table. Spent couple days in icu. Has three plates in his jaw , will have to have more teeth pulled, braces for couple years and fake teeth put in. He is story is all on my Facebook page and updates . Happened October 3 2020. Love your channel , helps get our mind off life and escape to duck hunting. We do have a lease in Arkansas and been having fun .
I have survived 2020 so far as to just sticking to our waterfowl food plots and brushing our blinds plus training my new Chocolate Lab pup Bella. I work full time of course so I am a busy guy.
Well a little late for the giveaway but I've been busy with work, fishing , hunting, and watching your vids on UA-cam to survive the year. Your vid about Texas rigs was awesome. I agree with ya about using spinner dekes, they do work most the time and when they don't the birds will let ya know. Great vid and always like your content.
I’d love to see some content on filming hunts! I considered buying a GoPro and trying to start filming mine but haven’t made the move yet, don’t really have much experience in filming. And church, family, and upcoming duck season has gotten me through 2020😂 can’t wait for this season.
We have survived 2020 by reconnecting as a family and spending time together. Also bought a boat so I can hunt with my 19 and 21 year old sons before they are out of the house.
Thanks for watching! Don’t miss our giveaways throughout duck season!!
Just been surviving 2020 by staying busy at work and dreaming about killing that green in the Arkansas timber.
I would like some info on camera/video stuff to video my daughter and I duck hunts
Have been surviving 2020 by staying out in the outdoors with my 13 year old daughter and turning off the news channels
