I’m a former Army attack helicopter pilot with combat experience. I put my family and friends through hell wondering if I would come home. I came back…many friends didn’t. Thank you for your reaction.
I went to fight in Iraq in 2001 when I was 18 years old. My little brother joined a year later. He never came back. We were just kids. I left a pissed off kid and came back a humbled legless man. I am a first generation American. Both my parents are from Mexico. Till this day I can not understand the pain and fear my mother went through. I am a proud American and I would do it again a million times over because I love my country. I came back but my little brother went home.
It has become somewhat of a tradition that U.S. military write a "final letter home" to loved ones just in case they are killed. This song lets the listener know what it's like to receive such a letter.
This song is one of the most beautiful, heartbreaking, and heartwarming songs I can think of. Vince Gill’s “Go Rest High on That Mountain “ is also very touching.
That style of country music has a mantra called 3 chords and the truth. This weekend in the US is Memorial Day that is a national holiday to remember those that died in battle There is a song called Arlington by Trace Adkins that would be fitting to play.Or run the video for this song.
I remember this day like it was yesterday. I was living in Turkey on a military base. I was just getting off work around 5 pm. when the 1st tower was hit. I worked security, and we went into lock down and I was no longer "off the clock". I drove home to hug my 3 kids and catch some news and then headed out to do patrol on the base. I spent the whole night alternating between my home and driving around. It was very scary.
Samantha Lisa love your channel doing excellent job.i want to say im very sick im in hospice I got stage 4 lung cancer. I live for now then my road next be my son,he passed away three weeks in a car accident. I'm 58 my son was 26 .thanks for song.god bless keep great work Samantha 🙏 😊😊😊❤
Hi Samantha I just wanted to tell you my papa was in the air force for a long time ago but I know that he is watching over me when he died I cried but I know that God loves me God bless you papa I love you thank you for being a hero to me
I mostly like Tim McGraw from the 90's. One of my favorites being "Indian Outlaw". His song with his wife Faith Hill called "It's Your Love" was pretty good too. He had a bit of a different sound and look back then. I remember as a little kid in the 90's, him and his wife being huge. Their music videos always playing on the country music channel, and it seemed like at every country music award show if they were nominated for an award, they always won it. Which even had me rolling my eyes as a little kid, because it happened so much. For my own reasons, I personally don't really listen to them nowadays unless it's their classic stuff.
Should have done the official video😟. The live version is okay but you truly feel the message with the official one. Still, you did an awesome reaction!
There's a Canadian artist named George Canyon who also has a song written from a fallen soldier's perspective; it's called "I Want You To Live" and it's so powerful. The video is also a tear-jerker.
All of us carried one of these letters in the combat zone “just in case.” I have been home now over 12 years and I still have that letter. Many of my brothers and sisters are still in harm’s way and they also carry similar letters.
In Country Music the official videos almost always give so much more context to the lyrics than live performances. The videos in some cases can even prevent a misunderstanding of what the artist is actually singing about.
Aussie combat vet Type of operations l was involved in my family were never going to be told what actually happened, but there was an understanding on my recon team about delivering our death letters🇦🇺🇺🇸 RIP to the fallen they are the TRUE HEROES
Military has to (I don't know if they have to, they may be able to opt out) write a 'final letter' just in case. They do it before each deployment. If they get out alive, they get all those letters back. A lot of people (that I know) decide to burn them, some have still given their loved ones the letters, so they know what was going through their mind at that time. There isn't an official video of this, I think this (could be wrong) he sung it outside of concerts. The first time I heard him sing it was at a concert where he, Brett and Brad (since they were on tour with him) talked about the song before they sung it. That was back in 2003/2004. The song has always been a great reminder for me that not everybody comes home and they are why we celebrate Memorial day.
You aren't required to pen that "Just in Case" letter, however, it is highly recommended because you won't get another chance. That said, I still have mine that I penned for my eldest daughter tucked away in my binder of pictures and memorabilia. She was 8 months old when I first deployed in '01.
This song was never released. He wrote it on a plane and got off the and went right to the studio to finish it and sang it live here for the first time.
Just an update for you...The sisters of 4th Impact recently decided to open a new chapter in their lives by pursuing their dreams here in America!! They are currently in Los Angeles awaiting their Entertainment Visa's!!! They just released their first "Made in America" video!! A beautiful version of Miley' shadows!!! If you enjoy country music don't miss Don't take the girl!! It will touch your heart!!!
I used to cry listening to this song and others like it, but then I stared reading the Bible crically and realized that god is the biggest monster of all, these types of songs just lost their meaning. Still feel bad for families that are left behind though.
RIP to all the fallen.
Go Pittsburgh!
This is the letter that no Parent wants to get from their Child's commanding officer!!!😥
From the Revolution down to our present day . . . American's treasure freedom, liberty, and the value of a single human life! Semper FI!

I remember writing my death letter.
Never jinxed myself..
Nope
I get it
During our flight home from Saudi after Desert Storm, we had a layover in Ireland. My torn up letter never reboarded the plane.
You don’t hear this song for the first time. You FEEL this song for the first time!
McGraw's "Humble and Kind" is a beautifully edited video offering a worthy message.
A powerful and deeply emotional message.
Rip Brother Man! Miss You Steve!

Tim McGraw is from my home state of Louisiana and we are so proud of him
Country songs tell stories.
They all are beautiful
Great reaction. He does so many meaningful songs like Humble and Kind, Live Like You Were Dying and Don’t Take The Girl. Huge catalog
I also liked Indian Outlaw, I always thought it was hilarious.

This was a letter my Grandfather had to write to my Grandmother. He was killed in action in 1943.

It is McGraw as in raw. Love his music.

Love your reactions. Your next assignment (Ha,Ha) is "Humble and Kind" by Tim. Have a great weekend.

Nice reaction. If you like great voices you should listen to Martina McBride. You can start with her hit Independence Day

The "w" in his last name is silent
Just so you know, it’s pronounced McGraw, as in r-a-w.
