THANK YOU!!! I've been really obsessing over the Wild West for the past half year, and yet I couldn't draw a horse to save my life. My horses still aren't perfect, but this video has really helped with drawing something convincing enough. It seems like there's barely any videos about this on UA-cam, and the way you broke it down was super easy for me to understand.
Omg your video is amazing! It just made me into a better horse drawer! Im fact I have watched soo many videos and looked at books and they all talk about this make a circle here and a another circle here bullshit that only keeps me frustrated because the circles are too large or to far apart that makes the horse look horrible. First of all I love how you always show your reference image so we can see how your drawing looks like and that you sometimes make wrong lines that you need to correct and that the horse isnt always exactly like the picture but beautiful enough so noone would ever notice the difference, that was really encouraging. But the best part that you showed how you approimate the proportions! No drawing on scared paper to exactly messure out everything so drawing is nolonger fun, also no "knowing the exact anatomy by heart so it will take ages to learn to draw", no you just show how you approximate the proportions and make simple guides on the paper, so you know the length and width of the muzzle or the whole head ect. This is what really helped me! Dificult angles I still need to practice a while but the easier side angle I could do quite beautiful drawings in a rather short time, thank you!! I definitly have to check your channel if you have more on difficult angles or legs, legs are still hard if they are not bent, then I always mess up the joints because they are barely visible. ❤🎉😮
Thank you so much for this well thought out comment. I can really relate to your frustration from other how to draw videos or books with the circles everywhere nonsense and I'm glad I was able to provide an alternative to that method that works! It really makes my day to get comments like this and know I truly helped someone out so thank you again! To answer your question at the bottom, I have videos on drawing human proportions and difficult angles but I assume you mean more on horses which I don't have yet. My goal is to do some human anatomy for artist videos but after that it would be fun to explore some anatomy for animals like the horse.
I’m studying videos on horses because I plan to do a painting on a group of horses and can’t find a good photo so I’m going to have to create my own scene. I’m going to start doing a lot of drawing now that I’ve watched your video because I want my horses running. I thank you for the advice on the anatomy book which I think I’ll order. I hope to find some other of your videos that you’ve done on horses especially running. Hope you do a painting video of a horse in the ocean. Thanks again for sharing your expertise
Thank you for a clear and concise explanation and demonstration. Breaking it down to shapes was very helpful. I will be getting the same anatomy book you have.
You're very welcome! This book was recommended by my Animal Drawing teacher when I was in college and she literally owned horses so its gotta be good, right?
I'm trying to learn how to draw horses so that I can make cool art with my favorite game ( RDR2 ) and I've been struggling to paint/render horses and I haven't seen any tutorials about painting horses! I would love if you could make a video about that? :)
One of my best art pieces was a horse! You helped me on that journey, this video is such a good base! I always drew those ugly weird long necked horses with like straight stick legs before this... embarrassingly enough.😬 you've helped me so much tank you😅
we all start somewhere! Try not to think of those stick leg horses as embarrassments though, they helped you to get to where you are now! Also they might be a part of a stick leg horse gang and come find you 😬
Haha I'm glad you appreciate the comedy. Maybe I should get up on an open mic one of these days and hit them with my somewhat monotone voice and jokes!
This is a good question. My goal is to get back to making videos coming very soon so I'll add this to the list! Maybe it will be a short. Thanks for watching.
Such a simple explanation like a brilliant teacher/guide.. and quality content.. thank you for this amazing video.. If you don't mind.. i have one request.. please make video on imagination or the the visual I'm thinking in my head how to put them on my paper ...
Greeeeat suggestion! (Try not to read that like Tony the Tiger, I'm being sincere!) Often I think the biggest struggle with drawing from your imagination is the fear of putting your idea on the paper without a reference. I'll definitely put some thought onto that and make that video hopefully soon. Thanks so much for the suggestion and for watching.
Appreciate the suggestion! Although I did a few years of oil painting in college I got to be honest and say I haven't really used the media in awhile now and I'm probably not the best person to do a tutorial on it. I can do a color study in a digital mimic version of oil paint but that's probably not what you're looking for.
Love the suggestion but not sure if I can whip that out in a week (I like to do a lot of practice drawings and prep to make sure I know what I'm talking about before making a vid 😅). Is there a specific reason for September 15th? Is there a new Harry Potter release or something?

Thank you so much!! Horses Are the hardest animals to draw 😭😭 glad I could learn this before starting steel ball run

Just a quick correction. The thing you all a cheek at about 1:50 is actually the jaw. The check is the area below the eyes.
Good note! Thank you for the correction and for watching!

! If you don't mind, do you have any tips for learning different things quickly? Like anatomy etc? :))
